I was given a few excuses (total of several weeks delay) why the car was not ready for collection. Once ready I headed over with trailer to collect car. Car was as described with some obvious paint had been done very recently. I decided to go ahead with the deal (I had drive four hrs to collect car). Loaded the car and paid Paul and went to office to collect paperwork. It was at that point I should have left the car, I was told due to an office move he could not lay his hands on the service history and that he would find it and send it over to me. Over three years later and dozens of excuses I still don’t have paperwork for the car. As many will know a car with no service history looses half its market value. Now Paul just does not respond to my messages.

Bought a car from Freewheeler, He promised a lot but sold a car that needs a lot of service or not working parts. CAR should be in a perfect state. No lights, complete SAM module broken.. No service, 1,5 liter oil was missing!! Promised spare key but was not there. Al lot of parts of the car where missing or broken. After buying Paul Watkins was’t available by phone, mail or what’s app. One advice, never buy a car from Freewheeler.

Bought a car from Freewheeler many years ago... being young the sight of the flashy car and his set up lead me to believe he could be trusted. Looking back now every time the car was seen... the viewing and collection the car had just been washed so was wet. The result was months later found out the car was resprayed... however 2 weeks into ownership of the car it's turbo blew. Car smoking very badly etc, contacted him and he told me to get the car to him to be fixed. Being 40 miles I said no as I don't want to break down... so told him I'd take it to a garage for diagnosis. Turbo had blown and he agreed to pay the garage to replace. It lead to weeks and weeks of phone calls and finally the threat of trading standards got him to pay. Had that done and within a few months I took the car to get valeted where they revealed the car had been sprayed. Such a shame as he appeared to have the money and setup to be trustworthy. Stay well well clear. .
WARNING TO POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS OF FREEWHEELER, NON REPAYMENT OF £1000 DEPOSIT, NOW HAVING TO GO TO COURT!!!- I contacted Paul Watkins through Ebay expressing an interest in a Porsche 996 Turbo he had advertised, we struck a deal with me paying a £1000 deposit and arranging to collect the vehicle in a weeks time. When that time arrived I arranged for a friend to kindly give up his Saturday morning to drive me over to Nelson to collect the car, only to be messaged by Paul the night before (10:45pm) explaining he would not be available the following morning due to 'double booking' (even though I told him on 3 occasions I'd be there Saturday morning). After several attempts to sort another date we eventually arranged another day, a Thursday, where I had to take a day off work. Again I managed to persuade a poor friend to drive me over but this time, the afternoon before, I was told by Paul that "the turbo is dumping a large amount of oil that is hitting the cat so the car is smoking heavily on idle"... Being mechanically minded and understanding that not only are replacement Porsche Turbo units very expensive, but also the car is totally undriveable and a fire hazard. So I quite reasonably asked for my deposit to be returned, as anyone else would in that situation. The car was obviously not fit for purpose or as had been described to me, in fact it was potentially dangerous. A month and a half later and several promises of deposit being repayed "from an overseas bank account, you should see it Monday..." etc. etc.. Still no deposit and Paul is refusing to answer his phone or reply to messages so now I am left no recourse but to take him to court. I have always in the past had good experiences with used car dealers, happily paying deposits to honest people for well described cars, unfortunately Paul has spoilt that and never again will I trust a dealer. Paul Watkins is the stereotype we all worry about in the world of used car dealers, spoiling it for the good guys out there. Very sad, avoid.

Andrew O in response to WARNING TO FUTURE POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS!!!
Since posting the review Paul has now repaid the deposit in full. Thank you Paul.
Written contract where the dealer states he will refund my VAT (approx. 5800£ in total) as soon as he gets the documentation of exportation of the car. (exported from UK to a non-EU-country) Documentation was sent to him. I have been very patient, I purchased the car the 13th of December 2016, and after several months of mails he payed 1454 £ in January 2018 (over 1 year after the purchase) out of the total of 5800£. Sent him several mails after that asking for the rest of the money, he does no longer reply on my requests. Stay clear of Freewheeler, not to be trusted. Looks like fraud to me, NOT a recommended dealer.
