So, please advise me Nissan Colchester how your customer care and values have slipped so far in a year!!! To be fair your shining light was a chap in parts who quickly and easily solved a minor problem with a part for another vehicle, however the rest of it has been appalling!! I spent 3.5 hours at your showroom today - I was interested in the possibility of an upgrade but you inspected my vehicle and advised that because my vehicle needed a new clutch it the cost being £1200 to replace that you could only offer me £1200 in part ex my answer to this was no - fair enough my car needs work!! You then advised that my car needed new spark plugs - I asked you to check this as I paid for several works to be done last year and guess what new spark plugs was one of those jobs!! You advised that this was the fault of the technician??? This makes me question the validity of the work carried out last year. So the new clutch problem, you advised that the clutch needed replacing at a cost of £911.28. A little shocking so I left your establishment and went to 2 independent garages for quotes on a new clutch - both garages at separate ends of Colchester looked at my car and advised that although the clutch is biting high that they would not endorse replacement anytime soon - they advised that should it cause me problems then they would be happy to replace my clutch at the grand cost of no more that £450.00. Both independent garages tested my car and advised that it would be work that is not required at this time. Both garages advised that my car is only 6 years old and that it has less than 50,000 miles on the clock - they advised that unless my car is being driven by a "boy racer" its is likely that I will sell the car before the clutch goes (potentially several years)- both garages advised me to keep my money and pay out should this become a problem. As a loyal customer of Nissan for 12 years and the fact that I have recommended you in the past as you have always been fair, honest and consistent, for the first time ever I plan on changing my vehicle but spending my money elsewhere as today I am disillusioned and very angry about the way I have been treated - I happily accepted that my car needed works but I find that 2 of those jobs were unnecessary at this time - had I not been savvy enough to speak to other garages you would have taken £1000.00 for works that were not necessary at this time. I should also like to point out that my vehicle has been solely looked after by Nissan since purchase - I thought that by doing this that when it came to works being carried out or upgrade that you would play fair - this is clearly not the case!!.

How can a dealer go from brilliant to disgusting in 3 years ? we have bought two Nissan Jukes from Glen Hopkins on Motability and have found their sales and Service almost beyond fault as was the quality of the cars. On this occasion we decided to test drive a Qashqai with the thought that if it was too expensive or we did not like it , we could get another Juke. We booked in for a test drive and on arrival were told that the petrol automatic had been discontinued and only the diesel model was available. We said OK , we would buy another Juke and was then told that this had also been discontinued. We had wasted our time going to the garage and were obviously very annoyed . When we asked the salesperson why they did not phone us to cancel the appointment she said that she had only found out a few minutes ago that they were no longer available. We phoned Nissan who told us this was untrue and both models were still made in the specification we wanted, They gave us a dealer in Billericay, Toomey,who had the Qashqai in stock in the colour we wanted and were most helpful. It appears that both models may be upgraded soon but they are definitely still available. We reluctantly decided against buying another Nissan as we felt Billericay was too far for servicing and did not wish to go back to Glen Hopkins. Three weeks later, my wife received a phone call from Glen Hopkins service department informing us that we needed to book in for an MOT on our Juke ,which we thought was very nice and efficient of them. When she phoned back to make the appointment a very rude and abrupt woman informed her that “ It is not due until the end of June and by booking it now we are depriving the next owner of 2 months MOT “ My wife told her that, it was at their suggestion that we were booking now but she did not comment or apologise. This has at least reinforced our view that we did not want to have anything more to do with Glen Hopkins, so sad, as I previously said 3 years ago, we would have given them a five- star rating for sales, service and customer relations.
