£141.37 quote jumped to £460.00!! Make sure you get a full written quote in advance the job card you sign upon arrival does not count as a quote. I called Think Ford Basingstoke and asked for a quote to change the glow plugs on my 2012 Ford Transit, I gave the service advisor my registration she left me on hold and came back quoting £141.37 I booked the work in and attended the garage the following week, after the vehicle had been in the workshop for around an hour the service rep came out and said there had been a mistake, the repair time was going to be about 3 hours as they had made a mistake when booking the vehicle in, she assured me that there would be no change to the price, a further 20 minutes later she came back holding a quote sheet, she told me there had been another mistake and I had been quoted for spark plugs not glow plugs, she said as I'm sure you might be aware there is a large difference in price so we will have to charge more here is the cost £460!! After a lot of excuses from the service manager refusing to go any lower on the price I eventually got her to agree to a discount which all of a sudden came down to £280.00 a huge difference considering 15 minutes before she physically couldn't move any lower on price because she would "lose money on the job" the work was supposed to be completed within 3 hours, 5 hours later the vehicle still wasn't ready! I ended up leaving with a small courtesy vehicle however weekend trip was cancelled due to lengthy repair times, when returning the next day I complained again to the after sales manager who still wouldn't honour their original quote, however he did reduce it stating the garage would not lose money on a job. After making a complaint with the local area manager Abid Rana he has come back stating there is nothing he can do the technician went to fit spark plugs to my vehicle and then realised it needed glow plugs! Any mechanic in the world should know as soon as it's a diesel vehicle it requires glow plugs! Abid Rana has also refused to stick with their original quote, reply email attached to this review. Ford a ford dealer to not even know what their own vehicles part requirements are is appalling! From now on I will go back to sticking with reputable small garages.
