Bought a 4x4 from Harlequin luckily with 3 months warranty, after two weeks the engine started making an awful racket, took it to my local garage who said to take it back as it was something major. I had to have the vehicle recovered back to Harlequin at my own cost of £250 After phoning almost every day after two weeks they said it was fixed and because of the distance from me would meet me halfway to bring it back. Well needless to say they didn't make it as it broke down again with them on the way. I then told them I wanted a full refund which Grant had to ok with the boss who conveniently was out of the office. Eventually after numerous phone calls got them to agree full refund. When the cheque arrived after another week of calling them it was for £200 less than the agreed amount. More phone calls and the boss said his salesman had agreed that amount with me because they had to do a few things to the vehicle which I part exed. As the part ex price was hardly good in the first place I definitely did not agree to take less. After threatening trading standards and bad reviews they eventually refunded the other £200. All in all I was well out of pocket and have been without a vehicle for two months. Very poor service!!!
Having just (within the last few weeks) picked a car up from Harlequin Motor Company. I have found that there are issues with it. The engine simply cuts out whilst I'm driving it. No warning. The engine just stops working. I have called them today to discuss this and was told that because of the price of the car there is no warranty. Even though it's shown on their website. I was offered the chance to take the car back to them to be looked at but since I am in Hereford and they are in Bristol and the car cannot be driven it's not really an option! The person I spoke to simply said " well it can't be too serious the previous owners had no problems " - not really a great response or particularly helpful. I don't really care what the previous owners thought of the vehicle- I am a single mum with a 4 year old. When this happened yesterday we were out on a busy road and very frightened. I cannot use the vehicle. However much I paid for the car is irrelevant. The fact is it's been sold to me under the proviso it's in working order and clearly it isn't. Edited. I have a mechanic looking at it as we speak and it's looking like the head gasket.
I bought a 4x4 from Harlequin Motor Company. The service was very good, we had a few niggles which was sorted. Grant the head salesman was very good and would recommend to anyone, great service.
What great service Grant and the team provide in the purchase of a new car from start to finish every little detail was seen too nothing was to much trouble for them . I have now bought many cars from Harlequin and that includes all members of my family what more trust can you have in any company than if you are prepared to recommend to ones own children
I bought my current Audi from the guys via first seeing it on their website. I arranged an appointment and went to see the car. I bought it quite quickly and haggled a bit. I like to at least get even a pound off. As with ANY used car, there will be problems and there were a few but they ALL got sorted and it was my mistake on missing an appointment with Audi main dealer that cost me but I want to be totally honest. The guys still have helped me even after my warranty expired. I got caught up in other stuff and missed the slot to take it into the main Audi place and it cost the garage the first hour so I can only apologise I've had to replace consumables such as tyres but that is something I expect in anycase. No garage that sells used cars will sell perfect examples but we buy in that understanding, at least I did All told, I have an Audi A3 that I could get my money back on if I sold today and I've only replaced 2 tyres and brake pads. If you don't expect a new car and are prepared to be a little patient then Grant and the guys will sort you out. Would I call then perfect, no way lol. I would say they are a decent bunch who rely strongly on word of mouth. They wouldn't be in business this long if they sold dodgy motors. It seems only the people who complain make reviews. I will be back there to buy my next, that should tell you all you need
I found the entire experience with this company to be knowledgeable and thorough. I've bought 2 cars from them now and if there has been any problem then they really look after you and make sure you are happy with your purchase. The service details have been honest, the sales have not been pushed or rushed and they can work to my budget rather than push to finance, as other less reputable car sellers do. I can highly recommend the company and say that I trust them and will make my future purchases from them. They go the extra mile to make your purchase and after sales service one that is very positive indeed
I called to speak to the garage about a potential purchase of a car. The description sounded right but the staff did not instill me with confidence. I asked about the condition of the tyres and I was told that it had an MOT 2 months ago and no advisories were found. I asked again how much tread there was on the tyres and I was told that they were all fine. During the purchase of a vehicle from this dealer I saw it had an illegal tyre fitted. I asked for this to be changed and was told no. I had to push to get it changed so I would be able to legally drive the car on the road. Following the purchase of a car from this company, I arrived home to find that the vehicle had a fuel leak (there was a puddle on the floor of about 1lt) and diesel fumes had been coming into the car on the ventilation system. If I had known the vehicle had a defect such as this I would never had bought it. I called Harlequin Motor Company and they said they would sort it and for me to take it to my nearest garage to look at. I called them from the garage to tell the quote to rectify the problem. The member of staffed laughed at me telling me that was ridiculous. I was told I would have to take it all the way back to them for them to fix. They said they would get the part off a scrapped car to put on there. The garage told me from looking at the engine that the fault had been there for some time, yet Harlequin Motor Company kept claiming it must have occurred on the return journey after leaving the forecourt. Over the following days the communication from the dealer was most unhelpful and belligerent, refusing to help me get the car back to the garage despite it leaking fuel. I ended up having to drive the vehicle back to the garage at my expense. All the time with diesel fumes coming into the car and it leaking fuel. During the return journey a number of other faults were identified with the car. When I got to the garage I told them I did not feel the car was of satisfactory quality, it was not safe or roadworthy and that I wanted a full refund. This was declined by Harlequin Motor Company, I was told that 'I had to give them the opportunity to fix the vehicle first'. When I challenged this as per Sale of Good Act the member of staff just argued with me. I was told that if I wanted to speak to someone about a refund I would have to speak to the boss on Monday morning. I left the car at the garage with all the paperwork. I tried 6 to 7 times on the Monday to speak to the boss of Harlequin Motor Company and every time he was 'out of the office'. I left a couple of messages for him to call me back. I didn't receive any call. That day I sent a letter recorded delivery stating my rights for the refund, the letter was received and still no contact from the garage. It has now been a week since I reported the problem to the garage and I have had no word from them, or no refund. I fail to see how this garage can stay in business when they claim on their website to 'believe that if you treat people the way you would like to be treated yourself'. This is not how I would want to be treated myself that's for sure. To be listed as a company that you can buy with confidence from is a joke. The reviews I have subsequently found on Google also reflect this terrible business with people being dealt with in the same manor as myself. At this time I am still waiting for contact from the garage to receive my refund.

I'm a little torn with this review at the moment as I have only just had a problem with the car so its too early to be negative about Harlequin. I was dealing with Grant and he was really good with me whilst going through the buying process. I thought that the guys made it really easy and the whole thing felt really transparent so for that reason take my ratings with a pinch of salt. I have since had a problem with the gear box going whilst driving on the motorway, when I had a look under the car I saw a fairly sizeable hole which was leaking oil. I have let the garage know and I am awaiting a response.
