Recently returning from Spain I needed a vehicle immediately and after trying several second hand car sales I found a vehicle at Harvey Lane Garage which suited my requirements as well as my pocket, purchased with a 3month warrenty. The owner James Powles told me that if I had any problems or not happy with the vehicle to get in touch with him. Everything was good for 6 weeks then I had problems with the turbo so I contacted James, who dealt with the problem very efficiently and supplied a courtesy car whilst the repair was carried out, which I understand was very costly. I was very pleased with the service I received and would highly recommend this garage.
I bought a car from this dealer at a good price but it lasted 1000 miles. The owner, who is the most unpleasant and unprofessional person I have ever come across, said that he could not do anything as it was out of warranty (by 1 week!). Very disappointed by Harvey Lane Car Sales.

This customer purchased a vehicle from us which was sold with a 3 month warranty in this period she had some issues which were rectified as we all ways do.What we cant do is to keep extending warrantys and pay to keep every bodys cars on the road but what we do do is stand on are warranty terms.As far as being rude to customers we do not act in this way either in fact the customer was very rude to us.The said car had a faulty sensor on the exhaust which caused no running problems what so ever.If the car was still in warranty this would have been repaired, Kind Regards The Manager

Purchased a Freelander from this garage in may. It had an air con fault and oil leak which James the owner of Harvey Lane Car Sales promised to sort. They changed rocket gasket and re gassed air con but when it returned it had developed an idle fault, hill decent was not working and it had developed a grinding noise in reverse!. we have been delayed by the garage for repair time and time again and now he ignores all phone calls and emails. When he was visited by my partner he was rude and refused to put the faults right. He now has asked for us to call again at end of the month? Another delay tactic I feel. Avoid this place like the plague unless you like hassle. *********I wouldnt normally update a review but the below has left me feel the need to do this**********When purchased i was told the vehicle had, had the oil leak sorted and the air conditioning had been done. I purchased the car on the 9/5/15. I complained about the air conditioning fault on the 10/5/15. We then arranged for it to go back to Harvey Lane on the 21st May 2015 with a member of his staff. In the confirmation email to Harvey Lane Cars dated 14/5/15 we had mentioned that the HDC failure light along with traction light came on intermittently and there was also a smell of burning rubber. Also stated in an email on 20/5/15 the vehicle still had an oil leak. (we had been told when we purchased it that he had had this problem sorted out). Dropped car off as arranged with garage and they had it for a week, we then picked up the car from the garage that had done the work on it on the 28th May 2015. We then realised they had caused yet another problem as it now had a problem with the idling as mentioned in an email to Harvey Lane Cars on the 29th May 2015. So yet again it was arranged for us to take it in again. This time it was dropped off to them on 2/6/15 we hadn't heard anything so we emailed Mr Powles and he sent back an email, quote "I will make sure it Ok and up to scratch" Cheers James. Picked car up again on the 15th June and it still wasn't sorted, in the time they had it they had used all the fuel (nearly a full tank). Left peanuts in the glove box and all the seats were down in the back. 17th June, we emailed and asked for it to be refunded as it does not seem to be getting sorted and we were told we could exchange it for another car, but quote "We don't do refunds". Email was from Mr Powles on the 17/6/15. 25/6/15 we had a independent diagnostics test done and it came up with faults. We spoke to Mr Powles and told him this and since then he has been fobbing us off by not replying to emails or phone calls. We said we had two weeks holiday in august so we could drop car off, but he was not conveniently able to get it sorted then as he was off for 3 weeks holiday and would not be back till the 29/08/15. So in the mean time we have been to an independent garage and have got a letter stating that the air conditioning does not work, vehicle idles poorly and at times cuts out/stalls when engine is up to temperature. Also hill decent does not work. This was done on the 15/8/15. So I fail to see where I did not have a problem form the word go with this vehicle and his previous comments that I had not done anything for two weeks can all be disregarded as I have email evidence of everything I have stated in this review. I do not appreciate being called a liar thank you Mr Powles.

This customer purchased a Freelancer from me in May, a couple of weeks later she complained of a smell of oil and that the air conditioning didn't work. At this point we took the car back in to have all issues resolved and also I loaned her a hire car as we fixed the problems. At this point to our knowledge the customer was pleased with this and didn't hear anything for a further 2 weeks. The customer then contacted us and said the air conditioning was colder when driving than if you are at a standstill and the revs can go up and down and was crunching the on downhill decent. My mechanics said the air conditioning is what all freelancers do of that age when in traffic, the idling is the air con compressed kicking in and out which is normal and furthermore all freelancers crunch on a decent on a steep hill and that is simply what they do. I have also spoken to Trading Standards regarding this matter and they agree the vehicle is fit for purpose for a vehicle which cost £2700. I have even offered a refund or a replacement vehicle as a compromise. And I never spoke out of term or was rude to this customer as this is not how I would ever act to a customer. I would like to finish by stating that the customer uses this vehicle on a daily basis. Kind regards, James Powles.

just an update over freelander. credit card company backed our claim against harvey lane and issued a full refund. harvey lane were told to collect the car but refused as it was economical for them to travel the 20 miles! if the freelander was as it should have been like harvey lane have lied in there response to my review, why would they not bother collecting a vehicle which they had on the forecourt at £2999? also funny how after my review they got two positive reviews soon after but none since? should all reviews be verified not just the negative ones? I'm quite shocked to read this as I have purchased two vehicles from this company and never had a problem.Just goes to show even when customers get there money back there still want to cause trouble. What's the saying it's hard to please every one! Love and light Mary
We had a small problem with a puncture and James replaced both front tyres with new as we were going to France for sometime. Excellent service, thankyou.
