Beware. Having been scammed by two previous car dealers, I came to Herts & Essex Motor Company. At first they were friendly, but said I couldn’t see the car that day, and wouldn’t promise me, that if I travelled 2 hours by train to see it on another day, that they would have held it for me. They said I would have to pay £250 deposit to hold the vehicle. They also said I would have to pay 2% extra if I paid by credit card for the car. I paid the deposit, but when unable to arrange the finance and the 2%, I phoned the next day to cancel the viewing. Then no friendliness. They said they were going to keep my £250. When I said I would take court action, they returned £125. I felt well and truly scammed a third time and will never be using this dealership again and warn you from doing so.

Sorry to hear this customer did not agree with our company policy of non refundable deposits unless the car is not as described. we clearly state this, is also stated on our invoice, in this specific case we lost out on a potential sale as we had to turn an interested customer away because this customer insisted on leaving a deposit to reserve the vehicle, they did not come to see the vehicle just decided it was no longer for them. as a gesture of good will we offered half his deposit back, he was not happy and threatened to leave numerous bad reviews which we feel is an unfair judgement considering he has never met one member of our company and is tarnishing us with scammers. We are sorry this particular customer did not agree with our policy and wish him well moving forward. best regards Herts and Essex team
