The sales team at Highlander will tell you about the warranty, and even allow you to pay to extend the warranty. However they fail to mention they self insure and, in my humble opinion, have little to no intention of ever paying out. Read the warranty doc to see if you think it provides adequate cover, and whether it is actually a sales tactic and not a genuine customer care option. My view is it is very much the former. Personal opinion is that garages should not be allowed to self warrant. If you are buying a car from Highlander do not be swayed by the warranty - it is worthless. They were kind enough to offer to do the work to replace the entire handbrake unit in their workshop - at a price, but no consideration of whether a properly functioning handbrake on sale should catastrophically fail after a very low number of miles.
