BEWARE IF YOU BUY FROM HILLINGTON MOTOR COMPANY GET A FULL AA INSPECTION DONE ..... Just had to put my case with solicitors, purchased a £7000.00 VW Polo. Was told by SCOTT that this would be serviced and MOT'd before collection. Asked for an extra warranty and was told no problem they have a good 3rd party company but on day of collection was told that they no longer sold them as they had fallen outwith the company! 2 miles down the road the engine management light came on, turned around and went back to the garage but they had locked up (In fairness it was closing time and they had waited for to to collect as we flew up from Wales) so with no one there I opted to limped back at 50 mph for the 500 mile journey to Wales. Informed SCOTT 1st thing in the morning and put the Polo into a garage to be sorted. They found the 4 spark plugs were completely worn out (Car had 75000 miles and they had never been changed) Odd as it had just been services according to SCOTT and it was found to have one faulty coil pack and the other 3 were working but breaking down intermittently. When I questioned SCOTT about the service he said ... Ahh when I said service I meant we change the oil not service the car!!!!!! What a load of bull. Alarm bells rang so even though SCOTT had put a new MOT on the car I booked it into anther garage for a MOT pre-test. What a surprise NOT, it failed, 2 front tires had damage to the inside walls and the 2 rear were so badly perished that in 3 days they had lost 10 psi. One headlight bulb blown. rear number plate lights had the bulbs missing. 1 front side light bulb missing. Front drivers seat sub-frame was cracked. Brakes were so bad I was told the car should not even be driven. When I had the brakes replaced (Following day) I kept the old parts. All 4 discs were so badly rusted that only 20% of the disc was being used and the disc pads had lumps missing from them and the bit of friction material that was left 2 mm thick . After having all this work done I put the car into Sinclair's main VW dealer for a service. Numerous other miner faults were found including all interior bulbs missing but more worryingly the oil was found to be so old that they commented on the state of it. After spending over £1200.00 in total to get it road worthy I only asked that they pick up the original bill for the 4 spark plug and 4 coil packs (£2 or £300) after 2 months the garage that fitted them informed me they had not been paid by SCOTT of Hillington Motor Company Ltd, 73 Glasgow Rd, Rutherglen, Glasgow G73 1LJ even though all invoices were sent to them and agreed. I phoned SCOTT and he said he would only pay for 1 coil pack. So I have now had to pay a solicitor to pursue this in the courts. Lets hope we can get the high sheriffs involved for there TV program . Guys customer service is everything, yours is non-existent. Why didn't you ring me or email me to say you had a issue with payment. You should be embarrassed to let a car leave your garage in this state. As I told you this was mt daughters 1st car you spoiled the moment. Its not the money that's why I only asked you to cover the coil packs and plugs. Trust me this is not the only site I will put this review on.

I respect a customers right to review, thankfully the vast majority of our reviews are positive. If someone feels they have had a bad experience I think its important to keep the content truthful. Sometimes unforeseen things can happen, not just with second hand cars, new cars also, manufactures provide warranty's on new vehicle to protect against the unforeseen. The car in question here is a 7 year old VW polo having covered 75k miles. Firstly we have never met because contrary to what you've written it was your friend who we collected from Glasgow Airport, from memory it was early afternoon which again contradicts him returning to our place of business to find us closed, saying that your friend had my mobile. he never called to say he had any issues, taking into account, outwith the extensive test drive your friend carried out whilst inspecting the vehicle, it was driven the 20 mile round trip from the airport, I dont think its to much of a stretch to conclude at that point there was no issues. I think the comment your friend made after he had satisfied himself the car was OK, " we would no doubt hear from you because you'll find something to complain about," we should have expected the issues we have had. You did contact us sometime later to inform us you had a issue. we asked you to get the car checked and keep us informed of the problem, from memory I spoke to the repairer who confirmed the car needed a coil pack, a coil pack for this car is £24, so when a invoice arrived for over £300 we contacted the repairer, who advised us you had insisted on replacing all four coil packs and spark plugs, even though it wasn't required. We authorised a coil pack under no circumstances will we pick up the bill for unnecessary work you authorised without any consultation with us. The MOT::having checked online before replying, contrary to what you claim about having a new Mot carried out, no Mot has been carried out, no pre mot has been carried out on the vehicle since the one carried out independently by us. The Mot station we use are independent from us, a family run business, common sense would tell you they wouldn't jeopardize there business or livelihood by not carrying out a mot inspection correctly. as a business we Mot without advisory. Your claim the car had old oil in it is again confuses me, apart from the oil change carried out pre sale, the car was serviced by a Vw main dealer at 67k miles in June 16. feel free to contact VW customer service who will verify that as well as other servicing they've carried out during the cars lifetime. Extended warranty: again your fully aware you asked for a discount rather than taking an extended warranty your invoice will confirm that.So just to conclude I think taking VW own service records. the GOV.UK online Mot history check, I think it can established your review is untruthful.Therefor we will be passing it on to our solicitors and look forward to hearing from yours....finally I will be happy even at this stage to reimburse you for the coil pack the car needed. I can happily say all was spot on with both the service and the Audi I bought from Hillington Motor Company. They had decent priced cars and were helpful. I recommend.

Lovely to deal with. Well they were whilst I was going through the process of buying the car and paying them for it. But then, in the few months I've had it, it has cost me over £2,500.00 (yes, two and a half grand!!) and they refuse to have anything to do with it. Never, never, never again.

Back in July I purchased a BMW from Hillington Motor Co The car was very nice and clean and in good condition and up to now I have had no issues with it at all. I got a really good PX price for my old car and the dealer has been very helpful and friendly throughout the whole experience. I would happily recommend.

I purchased a Audi A3 s line for my daughter last week.The car had a few minor problems when l inspected it.l told Scott what l wanted done before paying for the car and he delivered.scott gave me the keys and left me to get a good look at car,the way it should be.l would certainly buy another car from Scott. Hillington motor have a nice range of cars.
My husband bought a mercedes at the value of 26000 pounds. The next day engine started rattling and it has been in garage twice, can't fix problem says that those type of engines are supposed to sound like that. Very disappointed with the after service avoid with all costs.

The Full Story is, Your husband bought a Mercedes C63 amg from us, anybody who knows these cars knows there is a rasp when the engine ignites, the noise your talking about was present when he bought it, the same noise has been present in every one of these cars we have had in stock over a number of years, the Audi Rs range make a similar noise on ignition, when your husband got bored with the car, some almost 6000 miles later he decided to try and reject the car because of this mystery noise, Then as you recall we went through the process of having the car inspected by Mercedes, who as predicted agreed the noise was normal, The only difference was now the noise went on slightly longer, after some investigation it was discovered your husband had the car re-mapped, to recap your husband bought the car used it for two month done almost 6000 miles upgraded the power in it, got bored then tried to reject it. you forgot to mention your finance company rejected the rejection after finding no faults after they carried out there own investigations
I looked around for the best car and deal combined for my family and I. After being dragged from dealer to dealer by my partner, we came across Hillington Motor Company. They had the PERFECT Golf TDI perfect colour, size, exceptionally clean and very responsibly priced. Both Scott's at the dealership were helpful, informative and friendly. They made my partner, new baby and I very welcome and I would not hesitate to recommend ANYONE to them and I will certainly be using them again. Don't think I'd trust another trader. Avoid. Rang up to arrange a viewing in the morning and confirmed a time. Travelled an hour to get there and was told the car was sold, not even a phone call to save a trip. They knew I was coming, then tried to sell me other cars nowhere near the spec of what I was looking for.

So relieved we never sold you a car, Totally gobsmacked you have time to sit down and actually write a review about basically nothing, this review is toned down from some of the others you've written about this horrific experience you suffered at our hands, Some actually advise people not to deal with us, Firstly you traveled from your work in Glasgow City Centre, 3 miles max., so there is your first fib, You were asked when you called for a holding deposit....you refused....Someone walked in 10 mins before you and put a deposit on the car,...should we have refused to sell this customer this car just in case you wanted it, should we have waited for you to arrive and held a auction? what did you expect, the car was a price range Ford Focus diesel, it didn't have any spec apart from a radio, power steering and electric windows....If you can perhaps suggest better business practice for circumstances please feel free to call and enlighten us....
Purchased an Audi A5 Sportback from Hillington last weekend (13th Feb 16) and received excellent service from both Scott's. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The car was as described and came with a full years MOT and 6 months warranty. So far I am very happy with the vehicle and the service I received from Hillington.
