To summarise in my own words, dealership is about sell sell sell and no service, the car stopped working day 1, started again day 2, drove for 1 mile and then never started again! Right from walking in, there's barely any service, don't get me started on their warranty which you're HARD sold (even the director "happens" to walk past "ohh, it's expensive repairs if these go wrong, you definitely want this policy in place!" (google the warranty company too, worth about as much as the paper it's written on)), when you say no, they drag the paperwork out (no finance taken, so should have been invoice and done) then come back and start telling you again they don't feel comfortable with you leaving without it in place! (even they did a follow up call with us and in their word "are becoming very aware of the issues of the cars Hitchfields sell") Feel free to use Hitchfields if you like: * Being sold substandard cars * Cars with zero fuel * Cars scuffed wheels * Miss-advertised sales of including tax paid for * Being blamed for the faulty car from day 1 * Having an engineer sent to assess user-error (the car was driven around 50 miles back home and died within hours) (by they way they actually confirmed it was not user error, and then Hitchfields still said they needed the car returning to further assess if user error!?) * Appalling customer service and no compensation for anything! * A director that has zero compassion and explains plays the "this is going to cost me a lot to resolve" after selling you a faulty car and trying to convince you to pay for fees yourself.. Sorry to others that might have seen this but didn't due to me leaving it so long to get around to putting a review on here. I've produced the following review from AI summarised from 5 pages of notes, made from nearly 40 calls and numerous emails over a 13day period. This was for a Audi SQ5 (CX16UPK) we purchased in August 2023. Used AI as quite frankly, I don't want to waste any more of our time on this company, but on the other hand want to help other people avoid the misery. Review of Hitchfields Car Purchase and Service I recently purchased a car from Hitchfields, and the experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the very beginning, the service and the car itself were riddled with issues that highlight the failings of the dealership. Advertised Misinformation: On the day of purchase (4th August), I discovered discrepancies in the advertised price, with an unexpected addition of £290 for tax that was conveniently blamed on Pistonheads. Despite this, the dealership was unyielding in offering any compensation or discount. Vehicle Condition and Fuel Deception: The car was delivered with a scuffed wheel, and to add insult to injury, it had a mere 1L of fuel, despite being advertised as ready for immediate use. Filling up the tank took a whopping 74 liters, and this deception was met with indifference. Immediate Mechanical Failures: Within hours of owning the car, issues started cropping up. The air conditioning vent was malfunctioning, and during a short drive, the car stalled with the glow plug light flashing. Attempts to resolve the issue with the garage proved futile, resulting in the car being dead and blocking the street. Inadequate Support and Recovery Delays: The garage's response was inadequate, suggesting it was our responsibility to resolve the recovery. Despite efforts to move the car to a safer location, it remained non-functional. The recovery process took an excruciatingly long time, leaving us stranded. False User Error Claims: The garage attempted to shift blame onto us, suggesting user error in selecting park instead of reverse. This baseless accusation only added to the frustration and highlighted the lack of accountability on their part. Protracted Repair Process: Subsequent attempts to address the issues were met with delays and unfulfilled promises. The involvement of an external engineer only further prolonged the process, with contradictory statements and lack of transparency regarding the repair progress. Refund Request and Lack of Cooperation: The decision to request a refund was met with resistance, and the service manager, who should be customer-facing, consistently avoided direct communication. The refund process became a tedious exercise, with no clear timeline or commitment from the dealership. Citizens Advice and Legal Considerations: Seeking advice from Citizens Advice revealed potential avenues for compensation, including claims for fuel, tax rebate, and warranty refund. The involvement of DVSA was suggested, indicating a failure in the car's MOT and service checks. Overall Assessment: Hitchfields has demonstrated a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction, offering subpar vehicles, and failing to provide timely and effective support. The litany of issues, coupled with the uncooperative attitude of the dealership, makes this a purchase I deeply regret. I would caution anyone considering Hitchfields to think twice and explore alternative options to avoid a similar ordeal.

We spoke with the sales manager at length about the condition of a car we were interested in purchasing. We asked him if the car had any obvious corrective paint work or if any of the panels had been damaged or taken off. He explained that he had personally looked at the car and reassured us that the car did not have any such issues. After a two hour drive to get to the garage we walked in and located the vehicle immediately. Straight away it was obvious that the front bumper was not aligned properly with the bumper sticking out on one side and the bonnet dropping lower than it should. It was obvious that the front bumper had been removed/possibly replaced and we found paint spray work covering the black plastic on the front bumper. We were incredibly disappointed with the customer service as we had asked specifically for him to look at the car to identify such issues before we made the two hour journey! I asked if they would be correcting the panel position he said all cars are sold as seen. If he had of told us we would not have gone! The irony of it all was the manager’s previous job was an insurance assessor which didn’t install any confidence. We walked away!
