My son bought a corsa 2015 from Ideal Car Centre last November 2nd day overheated told to go to local garage he got a quote for £480 dealer stated the warranty only covers costs for £400 or less some warranty that however having overcome that problem the MOT due last Feb the MOT failed stating it was dangerous to drive so for that to pass its mot £400 driving away from the MOT station the car had a rattling sound underneath now it turns out a bar underneath the car needs replacing as yet to be fixed my son paid £5,700 for this car and the dealer does not want to know should the dealer reply to this review stating it’s all lies I can assure you it is not Trading standards needs to get involved with this dealer it seems the public have no rights when buying a used car from a dealer any suggestions would help.

Ideal Car Centre from Ideal Car Centre in response to Not fit to sell any car
We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy, however we sold a car to your son who confirmed he WAS happy with our customer service and his dealings with us, we did NOT sell a car to you. Unfortunately your review is not at all accurate and does not contain the truth. As you are fully aware your son's car developed a minor fault with a fuse which caused the fan not to come on leading to the engine potentially overheating. Your son was advised not to drive the car until it was repaired for free under warranty, but he continued to drive it anyway. He acknowledged this and acknowledged it invalidated his warranty and that he was liable for any further damage to the car caused by this. Despite this we still repaired his car for free. You even complained to the finance company who had an independent report commissioned on the car and found your complaint was groundless and that as a dealer we had done everything we could or should. Whilst we make every effort to keep all our customers happy, in this instance I am afraid we did everything we could have done and could not do anything more. Your son who actually purchased the car and is our actual customer did indeed confirm to us that he was more than happy with the service received.
Well priced cars, very clean and tidy. Staff are very welcoming and helpful, would recommend Ideal Car Centre to anyone looking for a great deal.
Recently purchased a Volkswagen from Ideal Car Centre, I found the staff to be very helpful and they always go the extra mile to help you out.
Bought a mercedes from Ideal Car Centre very recently. Been nothing but problems bills for repairs in the thousands. All provable verifiable faults. Car pulled to the left was fixed and tracking done steering wheel still of center then pouring oil they claimed from oil cap. Saud they would send me new one never did. Oil was actually from rocker covers. Big job. Then the suspension was broken had to be replaced at the back. Also the warranty supplied pays out max of 500 pound per job and very little is covered on it and could only find 1 garage nearby that would take it and that happens to be the garage that does work for ideal cars called every auto. Had car about 3 months been in repair over 8 weeks. One thing after another. No courtesy car offered no compensation made it very difficult to even talk about returning the car. Only really has 30 days warranty from ideal cars rest is on this warranty company. Had a truly terrible experience. Im being honest here and stating the facts judge for yourself but id be very very wary of using them again in fact i wouldnt.
Staff from Ideal Car Centre in response to Mercedes disaster
We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your car but we are somewhat shocked and disappointed by your review as we have gone out of our way to help you. The suspension was inspected at your request and there were no faults found with it. There was also no fault with the rocker cover, a very slight oil leak which we fixed for you at no cost to you. It was not a big job at all, it was very minor. During this time despite you ringing us constantly every day or two, we have acted courteously and professionally and helped you at every opportunity. We have not heard from you since so I am not sure what you other concerns could possibly be. We did not offer compensation as your 'faults' were fixed at no cost to you so I am not sure exactly what compensation you would require. You were aware at purchase of the warranty claim limit of £500 per claim - a warranty we supply FREE - and you declined to upgrade to a 12 month warranty for £150 with a claim limit of £1,000. You have had the car almost 5 months and the car has probably spent 1 week maximum being repaired, at your request for items which were not faulty but we repaired as a gesture of goodwill. Unfortunately you bought a 10 year old car done almost 100,000 miles and expected it to be like a brand new one.
I went to see a car I found in Autotrader and the staff at the Ideal Car Centre were all extremely helpful and not pushy at all. I was left to look round the car in peace and then they answered all the questions I had. The car was a great price and I got a fair price for my part exchange and went for a test drive without any problems. A very pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend the dealer.

No pressure to buy at the Ideal Car Centre. Lots of high end stock.

iDeal had a relatively rare car (a low mileage 4WD Jag X type estate) that particularly suited our needs. And at what we thought was a very fair price. But not being local I’d never heard of this garage. We read their reviews, and to be honest were a little unsure. Lots of good ones, but some not so good. But the less good ones spanned several years, some seemed a bit trivial, the responses from the dealer seemed reasonable, so we went to see for ourselves. We liked the car, liked the people, so bought it. Is that so far worth 6*? Of course not. The car had been (like all their cars) independently inspected. A failed suspension coil spring was being replaced and the rear bumper had a crack that was being repaired. Both were indeed done with no problems. We drove the car back to Yorkshire and all was well – until we reached a mini-roundabout in Ripon. On the tight turn, at modest speed, there was a grinding noise. Not there when parking at low speed, or normal driving – so hadn’t shown up on a test drive, or even getting as far as Ripon. We were able to recreate the noise in a quiet car park that evening, videod it, and emailed the video to Andy at iDeal. He rang us first thing next morning, and said take the car to our local garage for inspection. They diagnosed a broken wheel bearing – but also highlighted splits on the inner faces of 2 of the tyres, and damage to a rear rubber suspension bush. No big deal, but needed sorting. Now iDeal didn’t know about these problems; I know that because I know Andy himself had driven the car to Blackpool and back, and you don’t do that if you know there are problems with 2 tyres. Nor could you really blame them for not knowing – I drove 80 miles before any hint of a problem of wheel bearing or suspension; and the tyres looked fine, but had perished on the inner walls through lack of use over many years by the previous owner. A combination of Andy driving the car to Blackpool, and my driving it to Ripon, had probably opened up splits in the tyres their inspection had missed – but had also been missed by the garage used by the previous owner to MOT it not long before, so by no means a glaring error. We rang Andy again, who dealt with the whole thing. He arranged for the warranty company (a free warranty comes I think with all their non-trade cars) to pay for the suspension and wheel bearing, and iDeal paid for brand new tyres. The car was fixed at our local garage, we never paid out a penny. No hassle, no problems, no argument, all we had to do was get our mechanic to explain the issues to iDeal’s mechanic and send pics of the items and the quote and Andy sorted it. It is the least hassle I have ever had when dealing with any problem with any car I’ve bought, and I’ve bought a few over the last 45 years. And THAT level of after-sales service IS worth 6*! Any garage can buy a decent car and sell it to you. But it’s the ones that honestly sell you a car, and then if you do discover an issue, go the extra mile to sort it out for you that I’d go back to. Buy with confidence – not every used car will be perfect (and this was a 12 year old car, albeit with low mileage), and no garage can spot every issue every time. But they are honest decent people, and if you are unlucky enough to have a problem my advice is don’t go off on one as some people seem to do, just be fair and reasonable about it and they will treat you the same. Thanks Andy.

So, there was a list long of things my 3 series required including brakes which were in a bad way and so I left appropriate negative feedback. Consequently, today a representative from Ideal Car Centre called me on my mobile several time shouting at me and my family (as I was driving with handsfree on) for leaving a negative review, which is my right as it was an honest and factual review of my dealing with this garage who were extremely unprofessional and I can prove it. I am going to police and reporting this individual for harassment as he was very aggressive and wont stop calling and emailing. He also accused me of "extortion" and threatened to take me to court for "libel and slander". He would not let us talk and just yelled over my wife and I the whole time. From the start this was a bad deal.

Dave in response to ALL - My worst experience ever
UPDATE: Police have now spoken to this individual representing Ideal car centre and warned him regarding threatening me with lawyers and court action for slander (because I left a honest negative review of my dealings with this trader) if I did not remove my negative review. I have also contacted trading standards with complaint on what I believe to be the dangerous condition of vehicle sold to me and the non stop phone calls which I believe amounted to harassment. I have now blocked these ideal car centre tel numbers. Dave

Unfortunately this review is not a genuine review. Mr Herrera has been caught by both Google and Autotrader attempting to leave multiple fake reviews and as such the matter is now with our solicitors. The police did contact us to inform us they agreed with us and would support our claim against Mr Herrera for libel. Whilst Mr Herrera did indeed purchase a car from us his version of events is completely incorrect and is in fact his attempt to blackmail us and extort money from us. Shortly after purchase Mr Herrera contacted us with bogus ‘issues’ and threatened to post negative feedback all over the internet if we did not meet his demands including paying him some £600. Although we acted as we should and tried to help the customer, he has since posted false negative reviews on every site possible (some multiple times) as we refused to be blackmailed. Unfortunately we have now had to involve our legal department to resolve this. Mr Herrera called to enquire about one of our cars, wanting to purchase it over the phone. We described the car in detail to him and stressed he should not leave a deposit over the phone unless he was 100% happy with our description and certain he wished to buy the car. He decided he was and insisted on leaving a deposit to buy the vehicle and received an order form confirming everything via email. As Mr Herrera insisted on paying for the car on collection we even agreed to forgo our normal process and allow him to do so as he had not seen the car yet. Mr Herrera then came and viewed and test drove the car. He confirmed it was exactly as described and that he was happy with the condition and that everything worked and the car drove exactly as it should. He paid for the car and even signed a handover form confirming that he was happy with the condition of the car and that it drove as it should and the car functioned exactly as it should. Subsequently we received an email from Mr Herrera with a list of ‘complaints’ and demanding that we pay him for work to be carried out otherwise he would ‘flood your facebook, trustpilot, autotrader etc sites with negative feedback’. His complaints included the condition of the tyres, which he was told about prior to sale, including two being worn low, and he also viewed prior to completing his purchase and informed us it did not matter as he was having all 4 tyres replaced with all weather tyres on his way home. Also a ‘scary vibration’ from the wheels balancing which Mr Herrera confirmed was not present on either the test drive or his journey home but only appeared AFTER he had all 4 tyres changed so therefore was caused by his tyre fitters! Also complaining about the service history when it was not advertised with any and he was informed it had none. Another complaint was regarding the condition of the brakes which Mr Herrera claimed needed replacing all round, despite confirming that the brakes performed exactly as they should and the car had been independently inspected by two garages including the AA which both confirmed the brakes were not overly worn and functioned exactly as they should. Mr Herrera tried to claim £600 from us for the brakes, yet we priced them including all parts and labour at under £200. We even offered for Mr Herrera to bring the car to us to have the brakes looked at and for us to contribute towards them purely as a gesture of goodwill, but as soon as we declined to pay him £600 he started posting negative reviews everywhere. Whilst we have sold Mr Herrera a very nice car which was exactly as described and he signed to confirm he was happy with the condition of it, he unfortunately felt the need to complain. Whilst we made every effort to resolve his complaints and help as best we could we do not feel it is reasonable for customers to blackmail us with threats of false and unfair reviews.
Ideal Car Centre wanted me to commit to buy to get a test drive! Booked an appointment with them to view a car, making it clear i required a test drive as part of the appointment. Arrived on the day and after a short chat, where i made clear i was in a position to buy - was told by the salesperson that I had to give a commitment to buy the car, providing the test drive was satisfactory. The salesperson told me this was normal practice. Needless to say I did not proceed and will not bother with this dealer again. Would not recommend to anyone based on this experience

Staff from Ideal Car Centre in response to Have to commit to buy for test drive
We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your experience. When you booked an appointment we did state that the appointment was to view the vehicle. Then if you were happy with the vehicle after viewing it we could have gone for a test drive, however you stated that you did not like the car enough to buy it, therefore a test drive would have been pointless. We are happy for customers to have test drives and usually recommend all customers test drive a car before buying, however unfortunately as we explained to you at the time, we are a small dealer and do not operate demonstrator models like a main dealer would. You told us you had no intention of buying our car and as we also explained when you were there, at the time you turned up we only had one member of staff present and also 3 other customers, one of whom who had already purchased a vehicle and another who was there to purchase a vehicle, so unfortunately at that time we simply did not have the manpower to be able to take you out for a test drive in a car you yourself admitted you had no interest in buying. We explained that we operate a try before you buy policy whereby if you were looking to purchase this vehicle we would happily go for a test drive. As you told us you had no intention of buying our vehicle any time soon we explained that there was little point you driving the car at this time but that if you decided that you did indeed like our car enough to buy it then we would be happy for you to make an appointment to come back and test drive the car. Once again if you do decide at any point that this is the car for you, we would be happy for you to come back and drive the car, but if you are just wanting to see what this type of car drives like then we would recommend driving a demonstrator model at a main dealer as that is exactly what they are for.
Dave in response to Have to commit to buy for test drive
I too felt forced into leaving a deposit, I was also told that i had to make payment before Tuesday as it was the end of the month. I had a list of a dozen issues wrong with vehicle after purchase and they didn't want to know, I was then receiving many calls, and so i had to go to police, i also made a complaint to trading standards. My worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Dave.
A Buyer in response to Have to commit to buy for test drive
I was interested in your car - to say anything else is simply not true. I made the point that the bodywork had not been looked after (bad dents and deep scrapes) compared to the interior. Your employee seemed to take this personally. I found your outfit very unprofessional - i requested a test drive when I made the appointment. I do not appreciate my time being wasted. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone.
John Smith in response to Have to commit to buy for test drive
This also happened to me and told to leave a £500 deposit before test drive. I then had a list of issues wrong with the car, some minor and some serious.
