Drove down from London to view a 3 series BMW. Was quotes a price for my car on pX. Was reassured I wild not be wasting my time by Ed who had researched the cost of my car and called me back to confirm on the region of .. Arrived to be greeted by MIles - who claimed he was the manager but clearly needed some customer service training as was arrogant and dismissive. The car we viewed was filthy and had scratches all over it not to mention a dent in the rear quarter panel on the drivers side which was not mentioned in the advert. We were given a base quote for PX which was reasonable and in line with Parkers. Told them we didn't want to drive all that way for nothing. Was informed on arrival by Miles that his colleuge would never have given the base quote for my car, despite him refusing to call him to confirm this, he offered us £500 less than price quoted without even viewing my car. Told him we had driven over an hour for nothing, his response was arrogant, no responsibility for Misinformation. He didn't even want to look at my car to offer a realistic quote, no negotiations and to be frank the car I came to view wasn't looking great, oil leaking all over the oil filler cap. So angry we were given the run around and such awful customer service once we had arrived. Service and communication from these guys is horrendous. On expressing my 'dissatisfaction' Miles didn't quite know how to handle this. Not sure if my appearance made him nervous, I got the sense that he knew he wouldn't be able to mess me around and wanted to detract on the price so I wouldn't purchase to avoid future possible conflict. Having read the reviews, feeling quite relived as seems this is normal practice. My advice, steer clear!

Bought a car and within two weeks it was clear it was not fit to drive . We tried to get our money back to no joy so decided to fix the car ourselves and use the 3 month warranty provided to claim some costs back. We contacted the warranty company to fine out the car hadn't even be registered with them so we couldn't claim any money back. Avoid this garage.

I went to view a Honda Civic type S today, and what a waste of time. Car was Tatty with scratches and a small dent in the front o/s wing. Not what the salesman told me on the phone. I traveled over an hour to see this car. I asked the salesman, if that what you call him to test drive the car only to be told by a young whipper snapper who has no idea of how to speak to customers, that I needed to agree to buy the vehicle "in principle" before I could test drive it. I asked what this agreement "in principle" would entail and it seemed, so far as I could tell, to be all the steps and paperwork to actually buy the vehicle stopping just short of signing on the dotted line. Yeah right. Money in my back pocket no negations or haggling, even know it was tatty and needed to front tyres. Lets get one thing straight, 99% of real customers expect to test drive a vehicle first, then if there is a problem or there are some issues with the vehicle that have not been pointed out to them beforehand, then there should be some movement in the price. Not well if you dont like the price tough. I see from your feedback that many customers feel the same.

Was recommended this dealer through a friend of mine. I needed a car quickly and they rose to the occasion. I also liked the fact that when I said the type of vehicle I wanted they didn't try and sell me something else. the transaction went through without a problem and I am very pleased with my purchase. Thanks guys would definitely recommend you to my friends and family

I purchased a vehicle on 1st March 2016. The next day I took it to my garage to check a transmission fault. Mechanical faults with the car required an out lay of £2000 to rectify. So I arranged to return the car and have a full refund. Henry Spinks would only offer me 75% of what I paid for the car just days earlier.Since this is against the law, and is unacceptable to me I now have to sue him for the refund. I have yet to meet a more aggressive and insensitive car dealer, nor one who who flouts the law so prolifically. Trading standards ought to be able to catch this one.

Hi could you please provide contact details as I have had a similar experience with this deal & also looking to take him to court

Awful experience! After spending two hours to get to this dealership we were disgusted with the service we received. The specification of the car we were interested in was listed as overall good condition. When we arrived the person we had spoken to over the phone told us he was going in to find the keys for the car. We spotted where the car was so went to have a look. The body work was covered in scratches as we're the wheels, the door card on the drivers door was ripped and there was an oil leak. We were still waiting to be greeted by a member of staff!! By this point we'd had enough. Needless to say we didn't purchase the car and I would not recommend this dealer to anybody!!!

DO NOT BUY from Kent Motoring World. I bought a Mazda 3 and in 4 weeks my partner and our 7 month old baby found themselves stranded on the m25 due to the turbo failing. Henry Spinks (owner of this company) said, and I quote "not my problem ring the warranty company"!! The warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. The cost of repair is £1400 and Mr Spinks has refused to get it repaired. I found him to be rude, arrogant and in my personal opinion should not be allowed to trade. I have made trading standards aware of their disgraceful customer service. TAKE MY ADVICE AND DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM THEM.

Sent from my iPhone Begin forwarded message: From: Richard Higgs Date: 4 December 2014 05:09:45 GMT To: "watchdog@bbc.co.uk" Subject: Fwd: Used car I bought a used bmw 3 series registration number GN52DVF for £1789 3/9/14 from a used car dealer (kent motoring world) in Maidstone, Kent. After 4 days of owning the vehicle I got caught in a traffic jam on the motorway and was creeping along for about 30 minutes, when the traffic cleared and we pulled away blue smoke was pouring out the exhaust practically filling the motorway. I phoned the dealer (Mr Henry Spinks) the next day only to be told it needed looking at by a garage and to book it in somewhere at a cost to me, which I wasn't happy about. The following Saturday I went to the dealer to discuss this but he was adamant I had to pay for this and said that the complaint had been logged and that in his words "you should expect wear and tear of a vehicle of that age and it's not like its a 10 grand car is it?" As the discussion came to a close he said he'd write to me telling me a date that the vehicle would be booked into a garage he recommended (same garage that he claimed did a PDI on the car and MOT). After 1 week he still hadn't written to me, so back I went, only to be told this time that it was me who had to write to him to file the complaint via recorded delivery, I suggested email as this has a paper trail too and would be quicker, he said yeah that's fine so I emailed him, then phoned to ask if he'd received the email, he said he hadn't so recorded delivery of letters was the only way. So this is what I did, after approximately 10 days I received a letter saying a full PDI had been done on the vehicle and you had inspected and basically it's now your problem. I decided to take the car to a third party independent garage an asked them to go over it with a fine tooth comb as the vehicle is burning 1 litre of oil a week. They said there was engine damage and the engine would need to be stripped to find out what the problem was. Also on the report they said the 2 front tyres were bald on the inside but would pass an MOT, the exhaust bracket that is supported by the gearbox had broken and rear coil springs had snapped, none of which is covered by the warranty Mr Spinks sold me as the warranty is only for mechanical breakdown. I wrote to Mr Spinks and enclosed a copy of the garage report, after yet another week and having to go to the post office to pick the letter up (more time wasted and fuel and oil!) in the letter he said his garage would need to inspect it and not to drive the car if I believe it to be faulty even though the garage I used said it would be o.k as long as the oil was kept topped up. Mr Spinks suggested a date for the car to be recovered and taken to his garage so I responded via recorded delivery saying yes to 5/11/14 and if there was a problem to phone me as I put my number in the letter, he received the letter signed for before 1pm on 4/11/14. I waited in all morning and yep you guessed it, nothing. I decided to phone the garage Mr Spinks had supposedly booked it in with to be told it wasn't booked in there. Another week had gone by and I received a letter saying I must've misunderstood him and that I needed to pay for the recovery of the vehicle and they wouldn't give me a courtesy car and I'm not to drive my car. I have a four year old daughter who goes to nursery while I go to work and I need a car to get there so not having a vehicle is NOT an option! I have had the vehicle recovered taken to the garage he recommended at a cost of £120 to me, he said he would pay for the inspection this time as I paid for an original inspection. His garage have confirmed the vehicle to be faulty and have quoted a price which kent motoring world have said they are prepared to go halves, but when looking at the price quoted for the parts needed they are twice the price the should be, thus looking like he'd be paying towards the repair but actually not and said I would be paying the inspection fee of £50. The garage had my car for 1 week before getting back to me with their diagnosis of their so called inspection which was merely placing his hand over the oil filler cap ( in his own words that I have a recording of). I've just come out of hospital after major surgery to have a letter from kent motoring world bullying me saying the garage will be charging me £12 a day storage. Mr Spinks is trying his best to cause as much inconvenience to me as possible hoping I'll just go away. After looking on the Internet I've found quite a few other people have been stitched up by Henry Spinks at Kent Motoring World.

Thanks to all the other reviewers here, reading these comments has proved to me that Kent Motoring World really are the shady outfit they have shown themselves to be since my dealings with them, and made me realise my situation isn't a one off. I have never before bought from a used car dealer instead choosing to buy friends/families old cars, ex work vehicles etc. I was after a specific vehicle, a Ford Fiesta Zetec S between 06&08 with a Diesel engine. On 31/10/15 after many months of searching & viewing numerous tatty pigs, cat C/D write offs & badly modified examples I found KMW had a very tidy looking example. Upon viewing, the car looked physically superb but was pretty Smokey on start up, however it was a cold evening, the history showed no service in 20months & its a diesel so I wasn't too worried but the dealer offered £100 off and to waive the 2% credit card fee. I see now this blatant carrot dangling should have rung alarm bells. The salesman, seemed in somewhat of a hurry to complete the sale, rushing through his patter & paperwork presumably in an attempt to gloss over certain rights I was waiving without realising. 10 minutes into my journey home the check engine light came on so I pulled over and found no oil showing on the dipstick, luckily I was being followed home by my partner so we headed to a supermarket for 4litres of oil at £22 (the first of a vast amount of money I'd be spending on this lemon) the car took nearly 3litres! (full capacity 3.8l) off I went again, 10 mins later the ABS light came on, by now I have that real sinking feeling, I know I've been stung BIG!. By this time KMW were closed & unfortunately due to naivety the choice I made next jeopardized my chances of a refund, giving KMW ammo against me. As I have a professional mechanic in the family I decided to take it to him the next day rather than contact the dealer. He found the following issues: • Upon start up the engine only runs on 3cylinders until it’s at operating temp. • The sump has been off indicating someone has been looking for a pretty big problem • A lot of coolant staining down the back of the engine • Despite the car being MOT'd 3 weeks prior to sale, and showing no advisory notes, it was found to have extremely worn rear brake shoes and a worn wheel bearing bordering on dangerous. • Any diagnostic lights had been cancelled using an OBDII or similar diagnostic kit prior to sale. • And the big issue, the main reason I wanted a refund. The ABS system was non functional rendering the car dangerous in the event of an accident. The rear ABS sensors were brand new indicating someone knew there was an issue & attempted a fix. However this hadn't rectified the problem so we had the ABS module tested (at a cost of £70) by a company that remanufactures car computers. This was found to be faulty and a replacement is around £1000 from Ford or £400 remanufactured. I suspect the dealer knew this car would be an uneconomical repair so cancelled the warning light & continued with the sale. Once the extent of the cars faults & what it would cost to fix were brought to my attention by my mechanic I decided to contact Kent Motoring World on 15/11/15. Upon phoning them they said we couldn't have a refund as we'd not contacted them immediately and had signed to say we knew the car was smoking, I said that this was not the reason I wanted a refund, it was because of the expensive ABS issue, and so this conversation went round in circles. We then sent an email saying we wanted a refund on the grounds of faulty ABS & we received a letter back again saying we’d accepted the car as defective with a smoky engine and they now wanted all correspondence to be via royal mail recorded, more cost and the inconvenience of trips to the post office, plus slowing down all proceedings. After a couple of weeks of back n forth where KMW didn't once acknowledge any of the faults besides the smoking engine, we received a letter rife with spelling errors, containing a truly insulting offer of a refund of £1046 (£2389 was paid for the car) the remaining balance of £1343 was to pay KMW for a long list of charges for THEIR inconveniences. e.g. £100 valeting fee, £100 advertising costs, £238 vehicle depreciation, £250 vehicle collection etc. I have a minimum wage job and a mortgage to pay so the decision to buy a car on my credit card was not taken lightly. The reason I decided to use a dealer for the 1st time & spend more than I usually would is because I wanted a car that would last a few years, be trustworthy, reliable & have some form of comeback in the event of any issues, when in reality I've ended up with a complete lemon with numerous faults which is going to cost the best part of £1500-1800 to repair. Also the car is taxed & insured & still being paid off monthly while it’s been sitting unusable & in bits at my mechanics since 1st Nov. All whilst still having to pay to keep my previous car on the road. KMW have pretty much brought me to my knees financially and have showed no willingness to resolve the situation instead choosing not to acknowledge any responsibility. There is no customer aftercare here, once they have your money you’re on your own and they clearly have no issues in palming off defective & dangerous vehicles. I cannot stress enough how much you need to avoid using this dealer, they clearly only have interest in making money from whatever scrap dogs they can and customer service doesn't factor at all.

I purchased a bmw 3 series from Kent Motoring World and started having problems within 50 miles of driving it home. it is now un-driveable, they did not want to know. The warranty company wouldn't cover all the repairs and I ended up getting my money back from the credit card company, who got the money from their bank. do not buy anything from Kent Motoring World.
