2 months after purchasing a Car from L S Appleyard it had a serious fault develop. I then took the car to a Audi dealer and they identified a number of issues on the car. L S Appleyard have refused to repair and I have been left without any form of transport. I am now in the process of getting my credit card company to help me try to resolve this issue.

Staff from L & S Appleyard in response to Buyers BEWARE poor after service
It is unfortunate that your Audi electronic steering rack has failed after two months/ 4,000 miles covered but as the court compliant independent report stated the rack is an instant failure it does not develop over a period of time so it is with regret that we cannot offer a full repair FOC. However we feel you are being unfair by not stating we have made three attempts to resolve this issue with goodwill offers. Considering Audi quoted you in excess of £2,000 to repair we felt you were being unreasonable in refusing a repair that would have cost you £204.

Unfortunately L S Appleyard subsequently renaged on the offer they made to repair the car and even tried to source parts from Ebay. I am currently getting the car fixed by an independent garage and using my credit card company to investigate this under the consumer rights act 2015.
Staff from L & S Appleyard in response to Buyers BEWARE poor after service
The offer that we made, as our email states 'was subject to parts still being available from the eBay supplier'. We did give you all the eBay details with the item number in an effort to display complete transparency. By the time you had decided to ACCEPT our offer the parts had been sold. The law states that we are perfectly within our rights to supply a second hand part as you bought a second hand car. if you expect a new part, in the eyes of the law, that would be deemed 'betterment' and a contribution would be necessary from you, which is what we offered and you REFUSED. We appreciate your frustration Mr Connell but please try to give all the facts.
Helpful and efficient staff at L & S Appleyard. Easy to deal with, but a lack of attention to detail with regards to pre delivery inspection. A few daft faults that really should have been sorted before collection. But overall a reasonable car.
Excellent experience, far better than another experience at another dealer recently. We travelled here from Lincoln. We were allowed to wander round the site and check out all the vehicles on offer, all questions were answered properly and in a detailed manner, Lee even called a colleague to find out the cam belt interval for me. Lee came on the test drive with us and made myself, my wife and my daughter feel at ease we all chatted about our shared love of dogs. The car itself it in very good condition and all paperwork was present and complete, the 6 month 5* AA warranty was explained in depth very well, sale wise all paperwork was completed there and then and we drove away the same day. Excellent service

What can I say about Pontefract’s answer to the Chuckle Brothers apart from DO NOT buy a car from these con artists! In the first 5 months of owning the vehicle it broke down twice, once with Glow Plug failures and the other a more catastrophic issue that the Turbo went. On top of these issues the spare key that they promised they would source for us when we were buying never materialised (replacement is nearly £300) and the service documentation they were supplied was questionable (we found this out when we phoned a couple of the garages that had apparently undertaken the service and they had had no knowledge of doing this). It took the threat of legal action for them to start to try rectify the issues and even then it was a good 4 months’ worth of incompetence and dallying on their behalf. Luckily I noticed the vehicle still had manufacturer’s warranty (Chuckle Brothers Ltd didn’t even realise this when they sold the car, that alone should speak volumes about their car knowledge) and was able to personally source the correct service documents to get it repaired charge free from the manufacturer. All in all in 5 months of owning the vehicle it was off the road for 4 months. If you value your money, time and effort do not use these jokers as you will be ripped off. They were reported to Trading Standards and now are on file. TO ME, TO YOU, TO BE RIPPED OFF.

Thank you for your review and comments which we were disappointed to read. We can recall quite clearly the frustration which we ALL endured whilst Harratt were trying to claim for the repair under Renaults 4 year from new warranty. Please remember we supplied you with a 60,000 miles Renault Megane that was free from fault at the point of sale and as you quite rightly said failed some five months later. In an effort to give a balanced perspective, without getting personal, the facts are, yes a glow plug failed which was repaired by Harratt under Renault UK’s warranty and they also fitted a new turbo pipe which is listed on their invoice. What’s concerning is why then days later the turbo fails and Renault UK refuse to carry out repairs under their warranty. The reason they gave was that you could not prove the grade of oil used by BT Fleet on the services that were carried out on your car at 17,991, 36,372 & 54,820 miles. We spent a great deal of time and effort chasing BT Fleet and were eventually successful in providing Harratt with the relevant information that allowed your car to be fully repaired FOC under the Renault UK warranty. These are the facts and we hold all relevant paperwork to support our claims. We feel your frustration should be at Renault UK and or Harratt Wakefield who took several weeks to honour the warranty.
L & S Appleyard service was very good. The Vauxhall I bought has been pretty much perfect too, its running well. There was a small issue with the battery but I just replaced it with a new on as it was an easy enough job to do myself, i'm sure if I asked the dealership though they would have done it for me. I recommend!

L&S Appleyard treated me very well, made me a brew and showed me round the car, they were very open and honest and mentioned all the bits of the car that did and didn't work so I knew exactly what I was buying.
