Went to look at a car advertised on ebay by leicester Car Shop. I was told about slight smoking from exhaust on acceleration. due to the age and mileage of the car, i didnt have a problem. I purchased the car and started to drive home. within 10 miles, i was leaving billowing clouds of smoke behind me and then the car shuddered and lost all power (on motorway at 65mph) and went into limp mode. Spoke to them and agreed to exchange car. The second car was a bit shabby and wouldnt start due to flat battery. After finally starting i went for a test drive but was not happy. We finally agreed on a third car. After 5 days the car started to lose power. Went to a mechanic who told me that the engine had had it. the turbo was going to blow, suck all oil from the engine until it blew. It was not worth replacing the turbo as it would only delay the inevitable. It is a common fault with the 1.6 hdi citroen engine, even admitted by citroen themselves. Spoke to them only to be met with abuse and told i was a liar. There was a small balance outstanding on the car which they were demanding before they would even enter into discussions and threatened to call the police to report the car as stolen. When i told them i would not be settling up the balance because of the problems, they threatened to come down, take the car and leave me with nothing. Am now having to take them to court for the refund. In the meantime, I am unable to work as am self employed and need the car for my business. They are unscrupulous and uncaring, only interested in the money and dont care how dangerous the cars are. they dont deserve any stars and need to be shut down. I will be reporting them to the police and trading standards.

Thank you for leaving your review. We would like to address the following issues you have stated. Firstly the car you decided to purchase has not broken down and you are pre-empting a fault so the remaining balance doesn’t have to be cleared. The first car you came to see was described as smoking which it was so we were as honest as possible from the outset. We received nothing but abusive messages and calls from you stating the car you purchased was not driveable but has since been driven around by yourself. We don’t quite understand why this review has been left however if you need to discuss further please feel free to do so by calling us.

I had a very similar experience with this dealer PLEASE NOTE: Myself and others are launching a class complaint with Leicester trading standards against this dealer, we have been told the more people that raise concerns the greater the likely-hood of them being able to act. If you would like to add your name to the list please get in contact I wish I had checked the reviews online before I bought my car from this dealer, Because as anyone can see just by googling "LEICESTER CAR SHOP" OR AUTO they have the following alarm bells that should make you very concerned that they are even allowed to operate in the UK *NO WEBSITE *NO LISTING WITH GOOGLE *NO OFFICE CONTACT LANDLINE *NO CONTACT EMAIL *THEY ONLY ADVERTISE THROUGH THERE EBAY SHOWROOM - THE REVIEWS THERE ARE FAKE AS YOU CANT LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW EVEN IF YOU WANT TO There are a long list of negative reviews scattered around the internet once you look for them, but the 3 directors of this company (just google the name & companies house) go to great lengths to have no online/social media presence because they know what would happen if they did - NO MORE LEICESTER CAR SHOP! My bad experiences have been: *They sell dirty cars that in many cases are UN-ROADWORTHY AND DANGEROUS. *They will tell you they have been inspected but they have not *Even when they scam you into paying extra to buy an extended warranty from them they will give you no help if anything goes wrong and can become rude and abusive. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!! If you have been ripped off by these cowboys like so many have there may be good news: Someone has pointed out in another review that you should still be covered by the consumer rights act 2015 - even if the car is of a low value, regardless of what the dealer tries to tell you. You should contact citizens advice ASAP - even if they cant help you it may help build a case with trading standards to bring the dealer in line and protect the next person from these dishonest and immoral dealers. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/buying-or-repairing-a-car/problems-with-a-used-car/
Called up to enquire about a car advertised on eBay and they would not tell me when the mot was due or be bothered to answer any questions and then they hung up.
Staff from Leicester Car Shop Ltd in response to Poor customer service
The information regarding mots are all on our advertisements, we do not recall this phonecall and we take questions regarding our cars seriously
Unprofessional service. All car details stuffed into a bag....as there is basically a makeshift "office." All cars presented are poor quality, filthy (not even dirty) and over priced. No interest even to valet the car prior to advertising it. Rubbish was in the car I viewed. Finally the sales personnel are useless, uninterested and rude. Don't buy from Leicester Car Shop- you'll regret.
Bought a car, wasn't given a receipt when I asked for one he said they'd send one out, after a week of waiting I asked again and was told "it was in the post" Today I rang to ask for the final time before driving down to collect in person and was told very rudely "you're a joke mate just because I didn't give you an invoice" avoid at all costs not trustworthy

We bought a car from Leicester Car Shop 2 days ago. After we inspected the car and did a proper cleaning we found out that is raining inside through the glass.
Partner went to view a Volvo XC70 02 plate diesel automatic at Leicester Car Shop- boot stunk of diesel was told diesel had been spilled in the boot, hmmm makes me wonder , 3 seat belts were missing for a start and suspension iffy, was up for £1385 and rang partner after he left to say he could have it for £900 - definitely not thanks.
My wife and I went to buy a Ford focus from this company the guys were really helpful and answered our questions honestly they sold my wife and I a really good car I would recommend this company to anyone based on my experience with them.
