Car Dealer Reviews is an
official partner of Auto Trader
Bought a car from him advertised as a 2006 in Autotrader it turned up and it was a 2005. Delivered with a fault light on dashboard - delivery driver didn’t know what it was but “nothing serious” . That night I discovered the warning light indicated a failed air compressor. That was 3 weeks ago and the owner of Leigh trade cars has ignored my phone calls and emails. The car is gonna cost around £1000 to fix . WHAT A NIGHTMARE, do not go anywhere near this man..
Volkswagen Golf grey was told all working fine driving down the A12 home started getting problems won’t change gear properly and stalling and high revs cause it won’t change gear just been quoted a lot of money to put right he sold a dodgy motor this man is a crook do not buy off him I be seeking professional advice

I purchased a Peugeot 3008 from Leigh Trade Cars at Leigh on Sea from their claimed manager, on 12 Sep 21. The advertisement was on the Auto Traders website and the car was certified by them in terms of road worthiness. I paid 1995£ on the same day and drove the car back to London. I asked him for a receipt but apart from signing the V5C form, he didn't give me a receipt for the payment. He assured me that he would send it to me on email. While I kept requesting him for the receipt he ignored my calls and messages. Though he had assured me that the car had been serviced 3000 miles ago, I took the car to the local service station and had it serviced. The service station informed me that the car needed major repairs . The turbo charger needed to be replaced, the air inlet pipe was damaged and the entire cost of repairs would cost about 800-1000£. I tried to contact him agan and he did not respond despite repeated calls and messages. I also lodged a complaint on the Auto Traders website and even they did not respond. Currently , my car is giving me a lot of trouble as the pick up is extremely slow and the company is behaving irresponsibly. I am aware that there is a 3 month liability for major repairs for the car and the agency should pay for these repairs. But there is no response either from Auto Traders or from Leigh Trade Cars. Incidentally, the star rating for this Company is still quite high on Auto Traders.... I have already spent in excess of 250£ on the car and need to get the turbocharger changed as well which would cost not less than 800£.... Hope that someone takes action against such fraudsters

I have just gone to sell my car that I bought in 2019 and have been using with my 3 children in, it appears it is a write off and Autotrader tell me he must have used fake plates to advertise this car with them as the real ones would have shown it was an insurance write off, I can now not really sell this car for what I expect and will lose about £2000, AVOID THIS CRIMINAL, police have now been informed and Autotrader are investigating him. WHAT A NIGHTMARE, do not go anywhere near this man.

Do not buy a car off this person unless you enjoy throwing money away. In June 2020 we bought a Renault Megane Estate car having seen it advertised on Autotrader. had used a cloned registration to place his advert on Autotrader so the history report was all good! When we came to sell the car recently, a perspective buyer did an HPI check and our car was recorded as written off in March 2020, three months before we bought it off . Don't be fooled by his charm, he'll take your money knowing full well he's selling you a dodgy car. You have been warned and please be aware, anything you see on Autotrader needs to be checked and double checked as their system currently allows dealers to enter any vehicle registration to advertise on their site. If you are foolish enough to buy a car off and it goes wrong, don't expect any of your calls or emails to be answered, becomes the invisible man. It's a pity in the 21st Century the UK Consumer Protection Laws still allow rogue traders to rip people off and unless you're prepared to spend a small fortune in arbitration, he gets away with it.

On the 20th June at 15:33 I purchased a black MINI One . I went with my parents and explained that it would be my first car. He emphatically assured us that the engine was in perfect working order and stated that the only negatives of the car were the scratches on the bodywork. At 15:57, barely 10 minutes after leaving his site, the engine management light came on. Suddenly the car could not accelerate and we were left driving 20mph on a motorway. We had to take it straight to a mechanic who diagnosed a faulty VANOS exhaust and faulty timing chain. He stated that the car should never have been sold in that state. The dealer is now refusing to answer my calls. To this date, I have called approximately 102 times and have had every call declined. He accidentally picked up once and hung up straight away. I am now having to pursue legal action as he will not even let me return the vehicle for a refund. This has been a terrible first car experience and I would not wish it upon anyone. This seller sells unroadworthy vehicles and then goes rogue - please beware.

You might as well just set fire to your money then flush the ashes down the toilet. It would be far less painful than buying a car from here. Probably best to avoid at all costs.

Hi Sam, I've just had an almost identical experience and am now unable to get in touch with them. What did you do in the end? I'm planning on filing a claim with the small claims court.

I bought a car from this at the start of Dec 20 which started very well, he took the car to get it checked for me at a garage of my request, he didn't have to do this but he did. I bought the car as advertised on Autotrader with 2 car keys, but he only had 1 key with the promise of having the second and main key by the end of the week as it was at his mates place. 5 weeks, lots of calls and excuses all I got from him was "leave it with me". I felt after 5 weeks it would never happen. I wish I had read the reviews from: cardealerreviews , it seems that this has happened before, with lots of comments saying "I will call you back buddy" but it never happens. I did tell him I could get the key cut for £150 but was told in no uncertain terms that he won't be paying it yet he couldn't find the 2nd key that his mate had. Read reviews from all sites on the net before handing over any well earned monies and make sure you get what was advertised as that's all I wanted. I didn't think it was that hard to get what you had paid for !!!

This dealer is a fraud and should be avoided at all costs. Sold me a vehicle that was not only a write off, but also blew up within a month, and now strangely I'm unable to contact him. Despite assuring me that paperwork would be forthcoming, none has arrived. Buyer beware of Leigh Trade Cars!

Hi Yvonne hope you are well we have no record of you buying a car from our dealership I think you may have our dealership confused with someone else regards leigh trade cars
Yvonne Owen in response to Avoid at all costs
I can now provide proof for anyone interested that I did indeed purchase a vehicle from Leigh Trade Cars. Even though they are denying it. I have lodged a complaint with Trading Standards, and Autotrader. I'm sure no one else wants to ruin their brand with dodgy dealers.
