Welcome to potentially the worst dealership I’ve ever come across. My family and I purchased a used Audi A6 (K13HRJ) back on the 21st of January 2025 from M5 motors and had issues ever since. After four days of having the vehicle the check engine light came up; we took the car to a mechanic and got a diagnostic done (which M5 motors was supposed to pay for) and was informed that the issue could be nothing but could also be priced in the thousands. The DPF filter was the issue so I got back in touch with the dealership, explained the problem and was advised to essentially drive on the motorway to try and ‘clear’ the filter. We drove said vehicle from the dealership in Birmingham to Manchester the day we purchased it, and then an additional over 100 miles on the motorway after talking with the dealership; and the next day the same issue showed up on the dashboard. At this point we were fed up as we wanted a functional car, so I called the dealership and informed them I was going to return the car. The response I was greeted with was “Oooh I’ll have to ask the boss”. No babe, the practices that you’ve got going on are highly illegal and someone needs to look into them. The dealership then proceeded to refuse to give us our money back because we didn’t have the logbook. We dropped off the car and two sets of keys on the 3rd of February (had the car for less than 2 weeks) and was “promised” that a partial payment would be made in an ‘hour’ as we needed another vehicle asap. We had to call the dealership every 30 minutes to ask when is the payment going to be made as we were waiting on another vehicle; the dealership then blocked my number. Even though you owed us money, the wise choice was to block the customer rather than returning the money. After several hours a partial payment was finally made; we then sent the dealership a letter stating they had 14 days to pay the remaining balance. To make matters worse, the man who works there was waffling on about making some ‘deductions’ from the purchase price, because we allegedly put miles on the vehicle and added another owner; the same man who claimed he had ‘solicitors’ on standby; well if you did pookie, they would be able to tell you that what you’re doing is wrong sweetheart. I had also contacted the DVLA to explain the situation to them regarding the logbook; the dvla said to send the logbook back to them when we receive, it and everything will be dealt with by them. That the driver will be removed from the logbook and it will be retuned to the dealership. On the 14th of February the dealership gets in contact with us AGAIN to talk absolutely Bologna. Just because they’re a ‘dealership’ and claim to ‘know’ what they’re doing, unfortunately they’re a bunch of clueless slugs. The man claimed to have called the DVLA and stated that I was supposed to just return the logbook back to him. Let’s put our thinking caps on next time, if you properly explained the situation to the DVLA they would’ve told you the exact thing they told me. That the logbook will be retuned to the dealership by the DVLA and that keeping someone’s money hostage because you don’t have the logbook is highly illegal. On the 14th of February, we had to send yet another letter threatening to proceed with court action. Finally, war came to an end on the 21st of February when they returned the remaining balance. Clownery if you ask me. Anyway, to wrap it up don’t purchase a vehicle here unless you enjoy making your life difficult & like it when people keep your money hostage; as dealerships like this prey on the vulnerable whom are less knowledgeable about cars and the law.
M5 Motors from M5 Motors Limited in response to Avoid, not worth your time and money.
Dear Patryk, Kamila, and Agnieszka We appreciate all customer feedback, but we must address the inaccuracies and misleading statements in your review. First and foremost, while we understand that buying a used car can sometimes come with unexpected issues, we acted within our legal obligations and went beyond that by ultimately providing you with a full refund—despite the fact that you drove the car for two weeks and added 500 miles to it free of charge. Regarding your comments about our refund process, as any reputable dealership would confirm, returning a vehicle is a structured process that involves proper documentation, including the logbook (V5C). You were made aware of this, and any delays were due to the necessary legal procedures—not because we were "keeping your money hostage." We also noticed that three separate negative reviews were left from different accounts regarding the same vehicle. This does not reflect an honest or fair review process but instead appears to be an attempt to damage our reputation unfairly. Lastly, we would like to point out the unprofessional and unnecessary language used in your review. Phrases like "clueless slugs," "clownery," and "pookie" have no place in a constructive review and only serve to diminish the credibility of your claims. While we regret that this experience did not meet your expectations, we believe we handled the situation fairly and in accordance with the law. We stand by our commitment to customer service and transparency. We wish you all the best in the future. M5 Motors Team

I had a issue with them as well and I managed to get my money back. I called Citizens Advice and they guied me what to do(send a letter etc). Finger crossed that you sirt it too.
I hope that if you're reading this you didn't do our mistake and didn't buy car from this dealer :). They sold a car that after a day started to smell really bad with wet dog. Absolutely uncomfortable it was! We did a deep clean and paid for this-did not help. And found out dogs hair and SAND under the batery cover and seats....A LOT OF it. Unbelievable! After 6 days car broke down. We were 150 miles away from home. And even tho they gave us 3 months of warranty we were strugelling really bad with this company to get sorted the recovery. In the end we decided to return the car. Long story but finally managed to get my money back. Also we found out that company gave fake information about the car (one former keeper where there were 2 former keepers) on their webside so I advise you to pay and do the car check. Stay away. Be smart and look for more reviews online. Before you decide to buy car. Whatever dealer it would be.

Don’t buy from this garage. I wouldn’t want anyone to be absolutely rinsed like I have. I bought BMW 318d in July, 12 days later the front suspension collapsed with my baby, partner and dog in the car. I was stuck there for 2 days as the Autoguard Warranty and Recovery that came with the car are not worth the paper it’s written on. I paid myself for it to be recovered. I had to fight tooth and nail to be reimbursed for the money I paid for the repair on the car. 3 months later. An array of faults have flashed up on the dashboard. I taken to the closest “Autoguard approved” garage and I’ve had a bill for £1900 and the warranty covers none of it. I’ve covered less than 1000 miles in this time and have a death trap that now will be sold for buttons. £6500 out of pocket. Thanks M5 Motors 👍

Purchased a car from here. Less then 24hours later and I’ve had nothing but problems. The car is now undriveable and is also unsafe. I had explained to him we needed a reliable car as it was going to be our family car and what he has sold us is the complete opposite. In four weeks we have to pick our new born up from hospital or even less and we now have no car to move house or to even go to work. He has refused to fix it and is now refusing to give us a refund. He has said I have to pay for everyday I’ve used it witch isn’t even 1day and I have to pay to get it recovered to his garage witch will be 100pounds. I am left now with a car I paid top money for with thousands of pounds worth to fix that doesn’t drive and insurance I’m paying and tax. This man is unhonest not trustworthy and selling unsafe and unsatisfactory Cars. Stay well away

Bought a car from here, within 24 hours I had various problems which led to the car being undriveable. Not prepared to fix the issue or pay full refund which I am entitled to within 30 days. The cars damage of issues is well over £2,000 and they had just cleared all the lights out when buying it after a full garage report from when I got home. Trading standards it is :)
Got the car home, after filling with Petrol, instant leak. Glad car didn’t set fire. Now I have no car, it’s in the garage for a week. Is it really ok to sell a car with a Petrol leak that puts people lives at risk ?
I purchased a used car 2 weeks ago and was unable to take it for a test drive because of covid restrictions. On driving home I noticed a knocking and rattling noise from underneath, they looked at it 3 times and said they are unable to find the fault. I'm am entitled to a full refund but they refuse to give me a full refund. They said I will get a partial refund, deducting £25 per day that I had the car. That's about £450. I have spoken to trading standard who will be escalating the matter
