Just a nice all round dealership to deal with. No hassle from the salesman and all cars in great condition.
Really good service from this dealership. I bought a Vauxhall Zafira back in August. It was clean and in really good condition when I received it and up to now I have had no issues with it at all. The dealers were very helpful and friendly and I would happily recommend this dealership.

I have now had 2 cars from this dealer and each one has been fantastic. I have had many issues with garages in the past but this family run business looked after me on each occasion. I have had dealings with the after sales department also and have never had an issue. HIGHLY recommended .
Having now had the car for a while and due to issues soon after purchasing decided not to write review out of annoyance. Mcdougal & Breen do sell cars cheap and I am sure the majority of them are reasonable. Unfortunately I did not have the best experience. The car looked good and they seemed helpful when purchasing. Sadly this was not the case when I then had issue with the car. Within a few weeks I noticed the car was dripping oil. As the car was still under the manufacturer warranty I took it to the local garage. The sump was cracked around the sump plug, so the sump had to be replaced. I suspect this was present at time of purchase as this was so soon after. When using the car at night I noticed the one headlamp vibrated. On closer inspection the headlamp unit was cracked. I contacted the dealer and they agreed to look at it but quite unflexible. When I arrived at the garage I was greeted with a very rude and grumpy mechanic. When I explained what was wrong he was like its fine. Grudgingly he took car away and replaced the headlamp as it was damaged. This car has obviously had minor accident damage, as visible in the right light the boot has a small dent and the colouring is slightly off. The back bumper has come loose and on looking at this it was cracked too. The dealer never mentioned the very short time the previous owner had the car. I thought the car had only had one owner under motability but on receiving the documents it had 2 previous owners. I suspect they had a bump and then the dealer acquired the car and then did a fairly cheap fix of the car. Having complained about how I was dealt with to the dealer the response I got was well the mechanic was annoyed as my car I traded in had needed a lot of work which meant they had overpaid for the car. My car was left with them to inspect when I test drove the other car. According to them they needed to do water pump, turbo needed attention, gears needed attention. I had used the car daily and had driven over a couple hundred miles to the garage so have to say I doubt it needed all they said it did. I dont have any specialist knowledge and they had full opportunity to inspect. The price they offered was the same as the car buyers you see online so was not the highest but the cost of the newer car and the price offered seemed fair. Knowing the price they had on the car traded in they certainly did not lose out. So I would say if you get a cheap car and everything is fine then you have a good deal but when there are issues they dont deal with it well.
Staff from Mcdougal & Breen in response to Car owner
The only problem this customer had was that he travelled from Scotland to buy our car, when he called us asking us to pay for some items he wanted sorting we explained that we couldn't just give money away like that and that we would need to see the car ourselves. He was not happy with this. When the car arrived one of the headlamps was completely snapped and loose. It was very noticeable and clearly hadn't left our premises like that. We suggested that if the customer had no knowledge of what had happened then perhaps it had been bumped in a car park. He refused to agree that this was a possibility. We replaced the light at our expense even though clearly it was not our fault. We are rewarded with this review for doing the right thing.
I found my Citeron DS4 Online and eventually bought it from Mcdougal and Breen back in June. The dealers were very helpful and friendly and The car is in very good condition. There are a few small scuffs and scrapes but nothing too bad. Its very good value for money. I have had no issues with it at all and I would recommend the dealership.

Recently bought a 3 year old focus from these guys and I have to say we are over the moon with the car. We found the salesman to be very helpful and informative. Highly recommend this garage actually looking forward to our next purchase !!
Mcdougal and Breen did everything I asked of them, they offered me the usual extras but weren't pushy in any way, I'm enjoying the car, it was low mileage and the bodywork was perfect so it was a great buy in my opinion.

We had a little issue at first but as our warranty was with Mcdougal and Breen we took it back and the problem was fixed without any fuss. I was happy with the service overall.

Mcdougal and Breen were very professional, they dotted all the i's and crossed the T's, there was no hard sell or unpleasant exchanges they were spot on. The car is perfect and I've had no reason to take it back to them.

Not a bad car dealership, they were helpful all the way to the sale date. However when the time came to collect my car from Mcdougal & Breen in South Shields it was a different story. I was basically a case of there is your car, see you later. On closer inspection interior panels full of bodge trims that don't match and look like they have been painted with an aerosol can, badly I must add. Few trim pieces missing in the car and now after a day or two the car stinks of dogs / pets so clearly sprayed every other day to hide smell damage to most of interior panels. The silicone/ dash has wore off so my tip for anyone buying is to have a really good look at these cars closely. The car is 3 years old but cleary had a hard 3 years.
