Buying a new car should be a great experience. My recent purchase of a new Mercedes Benz from Mercedes Benz Southwest, in Exeter, certainly fulfilled my expectations. From the initial approach to the receipt of the vehicle, I was well looked after. I was given the information I needed to make my decision and received lots of help in making the purchase. There was an element of theatre when I collected the car, which was in its own room and covered; the cover to be dramatically whisked away to reveal the new car. Great stuff. Thanks particularly to Stephen who oversaw the sale.

It started so well. The salesperson was excellent and I collected my new c300e. 3 days into ownership, the car totally bricked and left me abandoned. It took six hours to be recovered (including holding on the phone for 2 hours). The car then went into a local dealership, could not be diagnosed and I was faced with an unreliable £60K motorcar and no clarity on how or when it could be fixed. I therefore had no choice than to return it for a refund. This was three weeks ago at the date of this review and still my money has not been refunded. The dealer has gone awol, does not call back or respond to emails in a timely fashion. Mercedes are back to prioritising cost cutting in quality of the product and the services (demonstrated by breakdown) as we saw in the early 2000's. I am back to Audi and Id seriously recommend people avoid Mercedes and this dealership, and I say this having owned an array of Mercedes cars over the years. Awful.

I bought as S class from them last year. The car was delivered with broken clock, blinds etc. AC didn't work. No quality check whatsoever. I reported an issue of noise and vibration under the accelerator when i received the car in march 2022. The car went almost 15 times to workshop to fix issues. As of today the issue remains and the car is in workshop for the last three weeks. Their manager is very rude and not helpful at all. They sold a faulty car and they are not taking responsibility. I have suffered alot of stress due to this. Do not buy from them. Go anywhere else but not them otherwise you will suffer for months like me.

I have bought an A Class in Jan 22 and it was advertised with the mileage of 12+ on the clock and on the invoice 11250 miles and after 6 months of my purchase I checked the MOT online dated 7 Dec 21, the mileage is 21712 miles and then I spoke to Merc UK and asked for copy of my service by mail that I received in minutes and it shows the mileage on 10 Jan 22 of 21394. I have reported this to Merc Uk but since then only received a service doc with mileage clocked back to 12000 + but no other communication from Merc Uk and MOT still shows the 21712 miles as of dec 21. When I initially spoke to the seller on the ph, soon as he realised I know the mileage discrepancy between clock and Mot and service, he hung up on me and despite me called back twice never called back. It's around 10k mikes above the advertised so I am taking this matter to Financial Ombudsman as well as the Trading Standards Plymouth and also take this matter to a TV show such as Rip Off etc. I am demanding a full refund from the dealer and a compensation as I have lost the trust and have caused huge stress that why would they clock back a car just to get rid of it with more profits and never bother to come back to me with written answers. I have notified my finance company too so awaiting investigations by the agencies. Really pissed off that why would a brand like Merc would have a dealerships such as South West that just giving a brilliant brand a bad name. Please be careful and buy from a reputable dealer that you can trust about mileage. It can't be a mistake to put 10k plus miles on the MOT where they check the clock and then a month later service team again add another 1000 miles on top of MOT miles as they check the clock too but once car is sold the clock is at just above 12k miles 🤷♂️

Went above and beyond for me and made it a very easy and seamless exchange
I owned 2 MB cars over the past 5 years. During this time both cars were damaged during servicing. First occasion was dealt with well, and the damage quickly and well repaired. Second occasion was a 3 month long battle, I even had full photographic evidence that the car was damaged during the time they had it. It was finally fixed. The third occasion, I did not have photographic evidence of that part, so they did not repair it and refused to accept responsibility. First car developed accelerator peddle fault, where peddle stuck on full throttle. Car was a manual gearbox, but used a peddle assembly with auto kick down. Had assembly replaced, but fault reoccured, so exchanged car as dangerous. On selling car was also charged extra for included items when cancelling the service plan, disputed the charges and asked for detailed breakdown of pricing. Took over a month, and only received very basic information. Opted to pay rather than further dispute as the charges were around £200 and not worth the hassle of continuing further. The drivers who collect cars for servicing have been excellent and sympathetic, but all other people have been very poor. Rude staff, phone calls not returned (took 3 weeks and 5 phone calls before they got back to me), delays while waiting for MOT, every visit and phone call was frustrating. They were only ever helpful when initially buying the cars. I liked the car, but hated having to use and deal with the dealership. I have owned VW and Audi cars which have been serviced at the main dealership, which overall were fine, had one or two minor issues, which were dealt with professionally, and with an apology!! I have very recently sold the car, and actually cheered when I was shot of it and the associated dealership.

Critical safety fault.... no problem sir! Without a shadow of a doubt the worst car dealership I have had the misfortune of dealing with. My 18 month old car went in for the 4th time for warranty faults on the safety systems. They then released the vehicle, only for me to question what had been done, to find out not a lot! Had the vehicle over 2 weeks and the complaint is still not resolved to my satisfaction. Lied to every single time I’ve asked questions of them. Unprofessional con artist, worse than a back street dealer, please don’t put the safety of you or your family in the hands of Mercedes Exeter.

I arranged to take my car in to Mercedes Exeter for them to look at two faults that they checked for 4 months ago , So I was expecting four things to happen one , a call during the day updating , or asking me for further information on the brake problem , NO CALL Second, The boot mechanism , needs a bolt tightening , which was found to be the issue last time , so lock tight used ,,, They did no work on this at all Thirdly , the brake issue resolved ,,,,,Could not find a problem , need it re-booked Fourth , Car cleaned ready for my collection ,,,,,,Nothing done. So a full day wasted taking it into the garage , And today no communication
This is one of the worst dealerships that I have ever dealt with. I would not recommend using Mercedes-Benz of Exeter. Mercedes-Benz of Exeter have bullied me and played their big corporate card instead of being realistic about the whole saga and realising that actually I had been very fair and genuine. My experience of leasing a vehicle with them has been an absolute nightmare. The quality of the vehicle was very poor. The service has been extremely bad. It seems the senior management team are now trying to find a way to refuse my rejection request. Mercedes-Benz of Exeter have have have had my vehicle twice now and still the issues have not been resolved. Both courtesy cars provided were damages and had issues. On one occasion I had to call RAC to assist as the window dropped through the door card in the rain. I am venting right now with this review however will post more later once I have had time to complete a diary of events for which I will use when approaching the Motoring Ombudsman service and Watchdog if needed.
