Hi thanks for you review, please can you find the time to call us on 07827870467 to discuss as this is the first we hear of any problems, if you would be so kind to state what car your purchased and what date in an email to mototomcars@gmail.com then we will be more then happy to look at fixing for recovering any any costs that you have incurred. Many thanks
In June 2018 I brought a Toyota from them, test drove it all fine, on way home it started reving hard and my independent mechanic noted that the clutch on the automatic gearbox hadn't been collaborated. I took it back to them and was given smashed up untaxed cars to drive while they sorted it out which they said they didn't need to do. They sorted out the clutch but then driving a month later on a busy motorway the car kept going into idle mode. This time I refused to drive it told them my rights and that they needed to collect it, I wasn't going to have that car again (it was re sold) I then swapped it for a vw touran, the boot lock wouldn't happen but they didn't know nothing about that apparently, I even paid extra for it. The car was looked over and it needed the dual mass flywheel doing as it was on its way out, they said to get it look at under warranty but in the warranty booklet these ones are not covered so was pointless, instead I had to pay out over a grand for that and a bootlock. I never put a review up but think I will as loads are being duped. Oh mine also had a service stamp history and last one didn't even exist as I rang every company that had that name and no one had worked on the car so I also had to pay for a service. Everything I contacted them and told them my rights to which they always responding saying we are allowed to try and fix it well actually no we can refuse the car straight away, they also admitted to us that they buy the cars at auction and sell on without checking them over.

Told I would get a call after being v interested and paying cash on a scratched up Jag Xf, no call arrived I had asked if I could get it checked prior to purchase and went on website 2 days later and it's not there. Travelled again to the so called showroom and it had been sold. Poor customer service!
Ben from Mototom Cars in response to Jag xf
Hi mike Thank you for taking time out to wright us at mototom a review whilst in a global pandemic, I would like to clearly state we did not except your cash offer and therefor sold the car to a customer 2 days later that is very happy with his new purchase. I feel to leave a negative review in this current crisis about a car you did not even purchase is very unfair and I hope you haven’t tried hard to build your own business and this happen to you. Paid full price for a Peugeot 207cc expecting to get some kind of customer service, think again. They mis sold an extended warranty which I cancelled for a refund this was the first problem. They broke the bonnet release catch prior to us collecting the vehicle but only revealed this once all the paperwork was done and they had received the funds. The broken part was left in the door pocket covered in super glue where I guess an attempt had been made to bodge it in the hope that it wouldn't be noticed. They informed me they would order the part and to bring the vehicle back to get it fixed. I tried to help out by telling them to order the part and send it to me and I would fit it myself. Nearly a month later after several emails no sign of any part or any attempt to rectify this issue which apparently was being dealt with personally by the owner. As as other reviews have mentioned they hide behind their phones and email and lack professionalism.

I bought a 2005 VW Touareg from Mototom on the 15/08/2020. After taking it for a test drive with my son and another gentleman from Mototom, who came along for the drive. After inspecting the car with my limited knowledge it seemed to be nice to drive and it seemed to have a reasonably clean body. It did however have 161000 miles on the clock and a few cosmetic things that needed attention, ie broken plastic wing mirror surround, missing interior trim, parking sensors not working, and vw badge missing, so I approached the salesman Chris who seemed very friendly and asked me what I would like to pay for it. So taking the problems I need to fix into account, I made him an offer £490 less than the asking price. He then had to go through the normal sales tactic of "I need to ask the boss if he will take that offer” . Within minutes the boss got back stating he would agree to £470, so of course I agreed. Chris then went into true sales technique - he got the paper work out and asked me to have a look at it while he carried on asking me questions how I would like to pay. He told me how long the mot was in days ie: 112 days left which seems like a long time when someone tells you that way but it is actually just over 3 months! Whilst I was working that out he told me that their company policy is that any car sold with over 150k milleage is sold with no warranty purely because of the mileage, to which I replied (because I know my rights) that's fine because I still have my consumer rights, right? to which he agreed and we proceeded to the payment. On the drive home on the motorway I noticed a ticking coming from the engine. It wasn't loud so I wasn't too worried, then over the next two days I noticed that when breaking there seemed a clunking coming from the front wheels, also a jumping when I put the car on full lock. Needless to say I felt this could be dangerous and consequently not fit for purpose, so I called the main number tel:07729307349 a week after I bought the car and spoke to Chris. Because it was Saturday and they were really busy, he asked if I would call back on Monday so we could discuss it then, I wasn't concerned and of course I agreed. I tried calling on Monday 24 August probably 6 times to no avail . It wasn't until this time that I started to think my calls may have been being avoided so I added 141 to the prefix to disguise my number and low and behold the phone was answered by Chris! I told him that I had been trying to contact him and how frustrated I was in not being able to contact anybody on the office number to which he replied 'they have been very busy' and he assured me they were not avoiding my call. Giving him the benefit of the doubt I went on to explain again the issues I had with the car. He told me that he would have to discuss it with the bosses of the company and get back later in the day, needless to say I did not receive a call. I tried calling again the following day again with no success. It wasn't until searching online that I found another number but this time it was the number of what I believe to be one of the bosses - his name is Ben. I explained the whole situation again and he, in his defence seemed genuinely surprised. He told me that he will make a call to Chris at the office immediately and ask him to get back to me. Once again nobody contacted me. It was at this time I came to suspect that this company was not as genuine as I first believed, so with that in mind and realising that this may well turn out to be a litigation issue I outlined everything I wanted to say and had already said in an email and sent it to the company. The following day I backed that up with a phone call, with my number once again disguised. I spoke to Chris once again and he acknowledged receipt of my email. He said that they would like to inspect my vehicle but their preferred mechanic was going away on holiday for a week and would not be back until the following week which would be the 7th of September. He also advised me that he was going on holiday and would not return until the 7th of September himself and that I should call the office number on the 3rd or 4th so as to book my car in with their professional garage for inspection and once inspected the garage would do any repairs at cost price to me as the car was not under warranty. So I agreed to go away and think about their offer and agreed to call back on Wednesday or Thursday the 3rd or 4th of September and book my car in for an inspection. After going away and seeking legal advice as to my consumer rights, I took it upon myself to take the vehicle to be inspected by an independent MOT inspector and garage. They intern did an inspection and report which I had to pay for and concluded that the front suspension arm bushes were dangerous, dangerously worn and needed replacing. There was a water leak coming from the thermostat housing and the manifold was leaking toxic gases. I went back to Ben via email and WhatsApp message so as to have a record and went back and forth with dialogue producing the report I had got as evidence. To which he finally replied that if I look on my contract it is stamped with a company stamp saying "vehicles over 150,000 miles sold as spares and repairs no warranty’. This was clearly added to the contract after it had been signed and whilst in the commotion of me entering my card details into the card reading device they provided. I then went on to explain to Ben that this was disingenuous at the least and in my opinion fraudulent at the most. I also went on to explain to him that under section 75 of the road traffic act 1988, a used car dealer is required to prove that there was reasonable cause to believe that the vehicle would not be used on the road and would not be used until it had been put into roadworthy condition. This would mean that the car dealership would have to show that the dealership took all reasonable action to ensure that I knew the car was unroadworthy and that the car should have been clearly advertised that way. Also the onus is on the car dealership to not let me take a test drive in the vehicle and make sure that it does not leave their premises other than on a trailer or being towed. I also provided a copy of the advertisement from auto trader and they were more than happy to send me a full transcript of the advertisement where it does not mention that the car is unroadworthy or being sold as spares or repair. So Ben signed off by saying he would have to pass this on to his legal team. That was two days ago I have not heard anything since. I REALISE THIS IS A LONG AND DETAILED REVIEW, I JUST DID NOT WANT ANYBODY ELSE TO FALL FOUL OF THIS UNSCRUPULOUS BEHAVIOUR. I DO HOPE MOTOTOM CAR DEALERS COME TO THEIR SENSES AND EITHER REPAIR MY CAR CORRECTLY, REFUND ME IN FULL OR GIVE ME COMPENSATION TO REPAIR THE CAR MYSELF. COME ON MOTOTOM, ITS NOT TOO LATE TO DO THE RIGHT THING! To the rest of you, I promise to keep you posted...

We assisted our daughter with the help of the staff at Mototom, it is a great runner with a few scuffs and bumps which is exactly what she needed for her first car, many months later it is still going great. We then bought a car for ourselves, once again great service from the guys, had a slight issue with a warning light, we were asked to take the car for a diagnostic test at a garage they recommended us to go to, problem was solved that day. Would I recommend going there for a used car ? Yes I would.....5*
Brought a small second car and was great value as got such a good experience for buying a cheap car. The guys arranged mot and service before I collected and car was cleaned and they even threw in an extended warranty. Thank you Mototom Cars.
Bought a car from mototom a couple of months ago so far so good.Very friendly staff.Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Even if the car breaks down in the first week which it did with me, do not expect any help. Motortom Cars are great at avoiding your calls.

This message is directed to our loyal customers this is a mistaken review, this person has tried to leave a similar review on the Autotrader review website claiming that we sold them a BMW 3 series with a 30 day warranty. All of our cars have minimum 3 months warranty unless the vehicle is over 150,000 miles. This however is beside the point because we did not have a BMW 3 series for sale the period this customer claims to have purchased the vehicle from us. We believe this customer has made a mistake with the company name. Also auto trader refused this persons first review as they can see our stock and knew that we did not have a vehicle description at that time.
