Bought a Ford Knowing the air condition was not functioning properly. Whilst I was having it checked a week after buying I asked the garage to check over the vehicle for the purpose of minor repairs they found the car was not fit for purpose to be sold the repair bill was far in excess of the price we bought the car for? At £1750? Under Trading standards 30 day rule I asked for money back which was initially refused. After a long argument the seller agreed to refund all but £250 as he stated it was rental for the 10days we has driven the car he would not budge I accepted the refund only because I could not as a OAP stand the stress of going to court? He attempted to plead ignorance and distort the trading standards act so buyers beware of this company they believe they are above the law?

Alan from Oakwell Cars Ltd in response to Not fit for purpose
I'm sorry you feel hard done by but please be factual with your review. At the point of sale you where offered a full 12 month mot to be put on but instead you wanted it discounted and you wanted to take it there and then knowing fully what the previous advisories where and the air con not working even signing the invoice stating the vehicle was sold as it was with no warranty and also it is 16 year old vehicle.
I will write my review based on the car I bought from Oakwell cars at Mansfield not on the people who sold it to me. This way any future 'car buyers' can decide for themselves if it is safe to buy a vehicle or if the risk is too great. Below is the history of my car in its first month :- Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.6 vtx (2007). 1. Rear wiper not working (booked in to get repaired). 2. Rear washer not working (booked in to get repaired). 3. Side light light out, first night. (Replaced bulb). 4. Number plate light bulb not working. Found to be out, black and corroded (not worked for quite a while on MOT ?). 5. Glove compartment light out (bulb not working and wasn't even connected at back). 6. Engine warning light came on but went off after an hour?. 7. About an inch of water in rear passenger storage leaving wires under water. Dangerous as my small son sits in that area. Found door membrane damaged along with door speaker. I repaired and fitted new speakers. 8. Wondered why rear wiper wasn't clearing window. No rubber what so ever on blade. Replaced. 9. Rear window high brake light not working (no connections visible so will be taking it into garage for checks. Warranty for car down as 28 days so !!!. 10. Having had over 17 cars in the last 38 years I would have expected the car to have been collected serviced, cleaned etc etc but it felt like the company had just received the car and sent it out ( to me ) unchecked. 11. Please read information as well. I didn't notice till much later that the car in fact did not have rear sensors as described. Overall, its been problem after problem with this car so my advice is "there are thousands of car sales out there.....use them".
