I bought a Renault Clio from Peter Vardy Hillington & I have never been so disappointed. Firstly I picked the car up and it had not been cleaned at all despite being told they have given it a full valet. It was dirty inside and there were old receipts from the previous owner from 2018. There were also documents from the previous owner confirming their full name, home address, contact number & email address which is a breach of GDPR. I emailed the branch manager advising of these documents however it was overlooked and there was no acknowledgement. As soon as I drove the car home I noticed a couple of issues with the car so I emailed my sales advisor to make them aware of this. I was advised to bring the car in so they could have a look then to be told I need to book an appointment for it to be seen by the technicians as they agreed there was a fault. Brought the car in December and the next available appointment was mid January, no curtesy car was provided as they had non available until the end of Feb? When the car was with the technician I got a call from the after sales team who advised there were no issues with the car and I can collect it... I advised there is a couple of issues and they were adamant they done all the checks required so advised I need them to look at this again or I will need to seek legal advice as I have been sold a faulty car, surprisingly 2 hours later they had managed to identify the issues and I was advised there was a loose part underneath the car which the technician had said it was all fine the first time they called me. They have now booked me in with Renault themselves to rectify the issue I’m having with my media system. All these issues should have been sorted before giving the car back to me. Peter Vardy do not seem to take any responsibility at all for anything so I would avoid at any cost!!! 100% will be taking this further as the staff I have dealt with so far are just rude & don’t seem to care.

Bought a car from them (car store glasgow) 7 years ago and after a month or two i find out that the car was after serious CRASH, went to them and they didnt offer any solution what so ever. Avoid if u can. If you really want to buy the car from them then do not believe in any checks they have. Make sure the car is whole 100% yourself. Beware

Had to call out RAC for flat battery after a few weeks of purchasing car. Was booked in to get checked over but due to COVID had to cancel and a few days later it happened again. As this was Xmas eve I couldn't get through but logged a text chat where I was told someone from customer services would call me back. Called out Dad yesterday and had to buy a new battery at a cost of £215. Car starts as sharp as anything now whereas before it was sluggish. Called Peter hardy today to tell them and to ask for refund as it was within the 3 month warranty period to be good not covered for bettery. Absolute joke especially as it had happened previously after only a few weeks of having car. Clearly not checking battery before selling cars. Avoid at all costs as knowing but from them again and neither will anyone in my family. Aftercare and customer service is everything when buying a car and to get sold one with a dodgy battery is not on!

On the actual day of buying the car you are met at the door by salesmen, very polite and very helpfully at all pushy, the salesman I seen was Chris Mitchell, who immediately knee exactly what car I was talking about that I had seen on line, he got the keys and was extremely knowledgeable about the car and the make of car. Sorted out a deal fast with his sales manager also very nice and pleasant to talk to. I felt important to them as a customer from.start to finish and a definite 5 star service.

KEEP CLEAR Phone calls and emails ignored very poor after sales service. Car registered in wrong name
Where do I begin? I collected my new car on 11th of July, I had set up a finance agreement through a third party and thought everything was in place. David Fyffe, the salesman from the Dundee branch called me the night before to “get some details for the handover” which I later discovered was an E-sign for a finance agreement which he had set up and had completely ignored the fact I had already arranged this by myself (sneaky and fraudulent right?) Collected the car, discovered what had happened, I called their branch almost every day for over a week and got absolutely no where. I eventually contacted customer services through email who had a manager contact me, It took a month to rectify this issue and only after I made several complaints to the finance company about the unscrupulous tactics of the salesman that the situation was resolved. If I hadn’t contacted the finance company I would still be calling and emailing peter vardy today! The Car is currently in the hillington branch to have the wheels refurbed as stevie wonder painted them and the salesman curbed one at the handover, Its also having 2 small dents and some scuffs repaired. They’ve had the car for 2 weeks, I’ve been contacted twice now to collect the car, the first time was last friday 11/09, wheels were badly refurbished and nothing else was repaired, the second time was yesterday 18/09, the dents were fixed, the scuffs weren’t and again the guy who paints the wheels let his guide dog do the job, plus a nice big chip on the drivers door! Both times I went to collect the car I was told on the phone it had been thoroughly inspected and was perfect. Theres a lot more to what had happened over the past few months with this company but these are just the main points, avoid at all costs, save yourself the hassle and spend your money elsewhere.

During lockdown I purchased a car from the Hillington store. The service I received before getting the car was great. Everything went smoothly except the tax hadn’t been added on monthly as requested and couldn’t be reversed - no big deal. When the car got delivered it was not fully clean inside but I was told to get a valet and send them the receipt and I’d be reimbursed. As well as this, the glove box contained items from the previous owner including her contraceptive card containing all her personal details and breaching her privacy. Furthermore, the passenger wing mirror was broken and this could only be seen from the inside (I didn’t go in the car for a few hours after they left as recommended due to covid). I cleared the glove box myself and got the car valeted, however it took almost a month and many emails and phone calls to be reimbursed. In addition, I sent a text to Louise asking what happens with the £99 online reservation fee, and was told it comes out of the first payment. This did not happen, however it did appear separately in my bank. This just reinstated my lack of confidence in the knowledge of the staff. I also realised I hadn’t received a V5 with the car or in the post, so I messaged Louise and was told it was sorted and would be with me within 10 days. After 10 days I had no V5 and the DVLA website showed this hadn’t even been issued. I then had to complain to get this sorted as she didn’t answer any phone calls or call me back when I called the store and was told she would. I finally received the V5 over two months after receiving the car. To top it all off, I was told the broken wing mirror could only be fixed when the stores were allowed to reopen, so I was given an appointment (only after I chased them up) and drove a 36 mile round trip today to be told they’d ordered the wrong part and it couldn’t be fixed (I had even sent George a picture as I wanted to reduce the likelihood of something going wrong). This did get fixed a week later and they collected and returned my car to my workplace which was handy, however this has meant I’ve spent even more on petrol as it was obviously used to take my car to and from the Hillington store. The whole process has been absolutely exhausting as I’ve had to continuously chase the company up about everything. I’ve been very reasonable, especially due to the lockdown situation, and have around 2 weeks for a reply every time before chasing them up. I’ve received far better customer service when I’ve been spending a fraction of the amount. Basically, the customer service is good before you get your car - once they have your money it goes downhill. Every complaint has been met with minimal apology and every member of staff has taken very little responsibility for any problems. I will never buy a car from Peter Vardy again and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.
