I bought a car from the Racecouse Garage which in all fairness has not been bad, yet! The problem I have with the garage is that their claims to do a 70 point check and perform a service are simply not true by virtue of the faults I discovered with it that should have been exposed by the most basic check by a garage. One particular fault they tried to repair with a bodge in-house repair that went pear-shaped on them and they admitted to it. They go to great extremes to avoid spending money and affecting a professional repair. My partner bought a car at the same time that turned out to be a long drawn out 'put it right at minimal cost' job. Firstly they refused to believe the fault was 'real'. Eventually, they accepted that it was indeed faulty and promised to have it repaired. It turned out to be expensive but it was done in 2 weeks by exchanging a unit. Shortly after that, another problem occurred which was going to be rather more expensive as the fix they applied (through being behind the curve on the technical aspects) caused problems with its advanced systems! Dealer garage quotations were clearly too expensive and the lack of progress chasing lead to the car lingering at the dealers for over one month. Another cheaper garage solution was taken up and eventually, the car was returned to my partner (said to be fixed) almost 3 months after the initial problems were brought to their attention. The garage seems to be unable or unwilling to let us know what work was done. The car has now gone in for a routine service by an authorised dealer, guess what, the same problem has been highlighted as a result of 'bad practises' according to the dealer and the repair costs will be £400! If only this garage lived up to their sales chat and they conducted honest repairs they would get my vote but they have some basic business best practices and ethics to learn and apply and forget the 'bodger business' attitude before I consider buying from them again. I will watch the reviews!
Having purchased our second car within months of each other..The first my parents picked up and found the boot full of water. Excuse oh we pressure washed it nothing to worry about.. anyway no fault of theirs but the car wasn’t suitable as dog cage wouldn’t fit so went back and exchanged it within approx 2 months paid another £700 and took an esatate car. The ignition key wouldn’t turn but told that’s ok I had problems earlier he fiddled with ignition and it turned. Off they went.. got home took key out of ignition the key came away from fob and flew down in front of screen into air vent.. luckily had a second.. rang them they said they would order a new key that was june this year. Have rang them several times that said they would ring back after dealing with customer still waiting for phone call and still waiting for key.. second key flew from fob but managed to retrieve from road side. Ignition still not right probably causing keys to get loose took car back as had really bad knocking noise was told oh we know about that it’s the pulleys rattling they did replace this.. . Though they sold the car with this fault and engine management fault which they rectified only because we threatened them with legal action .. will now exchange the car and have sourced a key from elsewhere I would say leave Racecourse Garage well alone.
We px our good car for a car with so many adulterated a week and Racecourse Garage do not care avoid never again.
Brought a car yesterday from Rcecourse Garage (16/8/18) no faults with the car, however it all got weird when I was collecting the car/doing the paper work. As I purchased the car with finance the finance broker advised me the car was not worth what it was up for by £20 not a big propblem as the sales guy at Race course said don't worry about it but then insisted I paid 30 in cash while I was doing the paper work. I wasn't going to pay this then the sales guy got 30 out his wallett put it on the table then insisted I gave it back to him wtf. I was promised on the test drive they would have another key cut, then told me when I asked about it to take it out of the 30 I had borrowed lol the car came with no manuals no history not even an mot certificate. In hindsight I should of walked away without the car. I would not recommended this garage the salesman only tells you what he thinks you want to hear. They could not get rid of me fast enough after the deal was complet.
We bought a VW Passat estate from Racecourse Garage. In good condition, one father and son owner, full service history. Before taking the car home , the garage put right any things that needed sorting to ensure the car was completely to my satisfaction. We encountered a problem with the air conditioning holding its charge and when I phoned the garage, they took the car in immediately and rectified the problem, replacing the compressor. This was all covered with their 3 month warranty. We are delighted with the vehicle and can not fault the service We received from Sales through to Aftercare. Thank you.
Needed a bigger car as just became a Dad . Visited a lot of garages in Bristol and just to be greeted by pushy salesman looking for a quick sale . Ended up finding a car I liked at this Garage in Chepstow so I emailed them . Not long later I get a phone call from Richard and after that I was on my way to view the car.Was greeted by him and he showed me the car and I must say it was in brilliant condition I checked over the vehicle and he let me go for a test drive and I must say it was spot on. I needed the vehicle ASAP as mine was not big enough . The car only had mot till October but Richard said I can take it away today and bring it back for it’s MOT during the week . And anything that needs to be done will get sorted . And they supplying me with a courtesy car.Got the mot booked in this Thursday . This was by far the best car buying experience I ever had and I will suggest everyone who’s buying a car to pay them a visit ! Thanks again Richard. Regards Chris
We recently purchased our beautiful Jaguar at this garage & were very pleased with the service we received. James was very friendly & helpful, as were other members of staff we encountered. We very much appreciated no pushy sales & being given the opportunity to look at the car on our own & also take it for test drive on our own. It could have been partly due to the fact that James was extremely busy but nevertheless we were pleased! The car was serviced & also MOT. done before we collected the car and overall the whole experience was excellent. We would not hesitate to recommend this garage.
We recently bought a car from Racecourse Garage. After driving it for a few days, we noticed some problems with the car and took it back to Racecourse garage. They ended up addressing all our concerns in quick time and very professionally. The car now appears to be perfect and we are delighted with the level of service, which puts other dealers to shame! A very genuine thank you to the team at Racecourse garage!
After seeing my dream car on the Autotrader (BMW X3) At a very reasonable price I was A bit dubious about visiting, We went in with caution. I was met by James whom was not a pushy salesman he gave us the keys and let us look at our own leisure. We the asked for a test drive as it was just the car we wanted. Happy with the car we then went into the showroom expecting a stressful negotiating time. We asked for the best price and were told that is our best price, a little disappointed but we'd checked prior to leaving the house and could only find one £100 Cheaper in a colour we didn't want it was due a service and mot in 3 months and were happy to do that for us. We decided to buy it. We then expected a long conversation about Insurance products and expensive polish as we did with Evans Halshaw on our previous car. it never came just took £200 deposit and told us to collect it 3 days later. We arrived to collect the car it had been cleaned and was waiting for us. We paid and drove off. Not what we was expecting at all from these reviews. all said and done i would use this garage next time for sure, Great Price. Great Service. Lovely car.
I highly recommend this garage. I drove from Kent to view the vehicle I wanted to purchase. They showed me all the paperwork and were very open and honest providing me with all the information I required. They were very friendly and professional even though I am a very picky and demanding customer. As this car was not at the standard I required I decided not to buy it and they had no problem returning my deposit back. As I like their professionalism and honesty I asked them to let me know when they get I car I am looking for and if they do I will be delighted to buy it from this garage. I have much trust in these people!
