Where to begin. For Some context we drove from Barry to Rhondda a good hour and half round trip, never been to Rhondda myself so im a little unfamiliar with the area, I wouldn't consider myself an expert on cars but I know issues to look for and I'm sure a lot of people take no interest in cars and I hope this review might help you look out for these in the future. I would avoid buying a car from here after test driving two cars and nearly a third. We went to view a white corsa which on the outside looked fine, it was only when you get inside the motor you notice the problems. The smell of damp and mould all over the seat belts, steering wheel, gear stick and seats. I mentioned this before test driving and the blonde lady said, "yeah, it'll get sorted" and gave an excuse that, "its because its winter", I've looked in a couple dozen garages and not come across anything like this. When they had pulled the car out we noticed a lot of blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. Jumped into the vehicle and noticed once driving the car would not go any faster than 35/40mph after entering 4th gear, the car would just lose all power (limp mode). Oil light was on so assuming the blue smoke and loss of power were linked, not quite sure why they would allow someone to test drive a car in such condition. We were about 15 minutes on this test drive. Second test drive (green corsa). Same as the first car mould everywhere. The engine light was on. Water, not condensation but literal water droplets falling off the windscreen all over the dash so I'm assuming the car has a leak somewhere, the car drove nice and we were really considering this car, given they fix the issues related to the engine management light, but our minds quickly changed after sitting in there for a good few minutes idle you would notice the engine trying to rev on its own (hunting) you will notice the rev needle bouncing, usually an issue with the fuel pump, vacuum leak, debris the list goes on. Nearly third test drive. We carried on looking around as we had drove quite a distance and wanted to make sure we were happy to carry on looking elsewhere, we looked in every single car and only a couple of the cars had no mould, this is when we noticed a black Hyundai ix35. Now this vehicle looked more promising and we were getting a little more excited, I did a quick insurance check before asking to test drive, the inside looked immaculate for the age of the car. Didn't see any visible mould only on the seat belts, it was leather interior so this may have been a factor. We went inside to ask to test drive that car thinking if everything is good with this one, we'll probably end up leaving today with a new car. Approached a guy called Dan who had a bit of an attitude had a little huff and replied "No". We asked why and he said, "you've test drove two very different cars to this one and now you want to test drive a third, we have to clean these cars after you've driven them" we replied, "they're not even clean they have mould all over them and the other two had issues, weve". He said, "this is the last vehicle you're looking at" as if to tell us we're not welcome to look at the cars anymore, it was a very awkward altercation. We stood outside to get out of that office, the gentleman was inside the hyundai trying his best for a good 5 minutes to get it going, it was just bouncing on the spot, we ended up giving the guy a little wave just to let him know don't worry we can see it's not going anywhere, he looked mortified. Needless to say we will not be purchasing a vehicle from them ever and I will tell this story to every single person I know looking for a car so they don't have to suffer the awkward embarrassment we went through, of looking at 3 faulty cars. Would give zero stars but its not possible.

Firstly after looking around at the cars we noticed almost every car was completely covered in mould (steering wheels, gear sticks, seat belts, seats). So would advise anyone going to see a car to take a cloth to wipe the car down before you view or drive it. Test drove the first car ( a white corsa) which the engine light was on, and wouldn’t accelerate over 30mph, so decided to test drive a different corsa which was also completely covered in mould, and engine was making a strange sound (hunting) and had a lot of smoke coming out of the exhaust. We decided to look at one more car while we were there because we had travelled quite far to get to this garage. To which dans response was very rude, and had a very bad attitude. It made me feel very intimidated the rest of the time that I was there. Saying he felt like we’d taken too long with the other cars, when we’d only been 15 minutes max per car. The third car then wouldn’t even start. Horrible experience from start to finish!!

Bought the car off them 6 months ago, within the first 3 weeks the car had packed in. Took it back to them and the car was in the garage for another 7-10 days while they resolved the issues. Turns out they didn’t resolve the issue, 2 months later the car packed in again. I took it to a local garage to get a second opinion and found out the car is not road worthy. Had been in a previous accident and all the body work and headlights are also loose. I was told by the guy who works in the office (I think his name is Dan) That the fact my car had packed in twice in the space of 5 months “that it’s just life” When it’s not life. You pay for a service, and you expect a good reliable car. Even after they claimed to have fixed it the 2nd time. I just wanted to get rid of it, so took it to we buy any car and the guy straight away noticed the car was making a very loud noise when the engine was on. So I assume they hadn’t exactly resolved the issue again. I paid £3700 for the car and ended up selling it for £1000 6 months later. Please avoid this garage at all cost

I was diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis and another serios illness last summer 2021 just after I had qualified as a Horticulturist and started to set up my own business, Reluctantly I had to sell my Van and tools because I could no longer work Due to the brain damage that was left after a serious flare-up. I decided it would be better to buy a family car to make the most of things with my partner and her daughter between flare-ups while I still can. I saw a Honda FRV with 6 seats which seemed a bit over priced but perfect for us to have some fun with so I went for it. I explained my situation with my health condition to the dealer, the reason for having to sell my van and the bad luck I'd just had. He told me that the car had just had a full service and was ready to take away that day. I couldn't drive it myself that day due to insurance reasons. As soon I drove it myself I could feel the clutch was really spongey and the biting point was right on the limit. I took it to my mechanic that I use and he told me that the clutch had completely gone. I bought it on the 23rd of September and rang them within the 28 days to tell them that it had a problem with the clutch. They told me to bring it back up to them and they would take a look at it for me which I was really pleased about. They called me back a few days later and said their mechanic had taken a look and it was fine and that I could come and collect it. On collection the salesman said that they had taken a look and it was fine and there was still a good few thousand miles on the clutch, I left there feeling really disappointed and parked it up. I then also started noticing an oil patch appearing on my drive but My Illness then got worse and I was stuck with a broken down car and no money. Once my M.S Flare-up had worn off I called my mechanic and had it booked in to change the clutch, Which he said it was worn down to the Rivets and probably one of the worst he had ever seen. While he was changing the clutch I asked him to have a look at the leak,, he noticed that the drivers side power steering hose had completely corroded and leaking fluid, Also the Rear back break cylinder was stuck and the breaks were binding. So far it has cost me over £1000 to have these issues rectified and there are still some issues to be resolved before the MOT next month. Admittedly Some of this cost was to have a full service done on the vehicle as we didn't feel safe driving around in it after being told that it had just had a service and was ready to take away that day. I would seriously think twice or definitely take an independent mechanic with you when inspecting the vehicle. My personal advice would be to just Avoid!!!,

Went to Wales from Kent after speaking to Dan and looking at reviews feeling positive! The pictures didn’t do them justice, my son and I bought a van each and were really impressed and happy with the service! Dan even picked us up from the train station! Great service and would highly recommend buying from here!

Bought a Peugeot 207 the 15th of march. On collecting I noticed the heaters were gone so arranged to take the car back a week later to get them sorted. During the week I had the car the power steering was going funny. So when I took the car back they fixed the heaters and said the "fixed" the power steering it wasn't until I was on the motorway that the power steering went again. So then they fixed it for a second time. Then a month later the starting motor went. They did send a new one out for me to get a garage to fit at my expense. And then my clutch went all within 3 months. The car has been off the road more than its been on. Worst thing I ever done was buy a car for there.

Rachel in response to Avoid

Same happened to us spend more on fixing the problems each week they told us they had changed things they hadn’t and when we finally give up taking it back to them to sort and took it to a garage the mechanic there pointed out that it was falling apart with rust and the rust had been painted over!! The guy there as an attitude not helpful at all once they have had your money they don’t care

I'm so happy with the customer service, it was a smooth process and handled as well as possible given the current circumstances. The communication was great. There was a few issues with the Suzuki Jimney and the dealer refused to sell it to me until it was completely 100% roadworthy. They carried the work out and contacted me to see if I still wanted to buy it - of course I did. Great little car, very happy. Thanks Rhondda Motor Company.

Have just purchased a Ford Focus from Rhondda Motor Company. From the initial contact through to after sales, Rhondda have been consistently professional and thorough. With not been able to view or test drive the car before buying, due to restrictions, I was very dependant on honesty and transparency of the dealer and how they described the car. The team handled the process with friendly assistance and patience. I'm very pleased with the Focus, I'm glad I trusted this business - I will use again for future vehicle needs.
