They manipulated me to commit to a diagnostics and repair that they had no intention of doing. They kept my car for a week and did everything they could to take my money and deliver nothing.
My wife and I called to view second hand cars at the Silverlink. The staff were not particularly helpful as there weren't any cars to fit our criteria. The new pre-registered cars along with the used examples were ill prepared and dirty. We spent our money elsewhere.
Bought a car it broke down within 18 days I only had possession of it 9 days as they were "repairing" it. Rejected the car under the Consumer rights act on 22/08/2024. Still not heard anything from then regarding my refund of nearly 12K. They refuse to refund or even engage or follow their own complaints procedure. CAB and Trading standards not interested. It's going to cost me £700 to go to court and the waiting list 1.5 to 2 years!!! #Ripoff Britain
Zero stars…….. Bought a used car from the Southwick, Sunderland branch and have had no end of trouble since. Was told the car had been serviced and would be cleaned before pick up. When we collected the car, it had obviously only been given a cursory jet wash but the light was fading so didn’t really check. Our son is a mechanic and checked over the car the following day. He found two things that would fail an MOT, the engine coolant was empty and there was nothing in the screen wash, so it had obviously not been serviced. The car hadn’t been properly cleaned and there was even blood splatters on the inside ceiling of the car. We took the car back to the dealer where we were told, ‘no problem we’ll book it in to have the work done’. We did that but they couldn’t do it for a couple of weeks. When we turned up to have the work done, the dealership had changed hands and was no longer Richard Hardie but Arnold Clarke and was told they had nothing to do with us anymore as a customer and would need to contact either the Ashington or Silverlink branch of Richard Hardie, both either over a 50 or 25 mile round trip. Not one phone call to tell us there was a change over happening and all this within 2 weeks of purchasing. Contacting either of these branches was nigh on impossible due to the phone lines being down and then constantly ringing out. When we did get through they said it would be 4 weeks which we had to agree to. They took the details of what needed doing as agreed per the Southwick branch and said it would be an all day job so offered us a courtesy car. We did this only to get a phone call at midday on the day it was booked in for, to say it was ready to be collected because they didn’t have the parts (even after booking the car in for these specific jobs) and would be another 4 weeks before they could book us in again, due to the demand for a courtesy car. Considering it was a 25 mile round trip this was needed. When eventually we did get around to having the work done, they damaged the wheel bolt and said it would be the next day for the car being ready. However, my husband was in hospital the next day so needed the car that night. They agreed the car was safe to drive and when we asked if the (small) part could be sent to the house for us to fix ourselves, they agreed. One week later, no part, no phone call. Telephoned them again and got no answer numerous times from the service dept. Next day the same but eventually answered to be told they had no way of posting the part out and it would need collecting!! Really, no postal system? The car yet again didn’t get the deep clean it needed for which we have had to arrange at a cost of £60. We are astounded by the sheer audacity of a dealer selling a car and giving the customer service after care that Richard Hardie has. Every member of staff have been unhelpful, with an attitude to match their poor service and we will NEVER buy from or recommend this dealer again. BUYER BEWARE.

My wife and I have been long time customers of Richard Hardie, Silverlink. In early December 2023 we decided to go from two cars to one. I returned our two PCP cars, settled the finance and then bought one car from the dealership. I was told it was too late to stop the one upcoming payment due two days later, which I was fine about and was told that I would get the money back quickly. The payment came out on the 8th December but I didn't get the money back. Then on January 4th a payment came out for the other car and then on January 8th another payment was taken, all in all I paid £977.00 even though I had settled the finance. I tried to get my money back by visiting the dealership and was told their head office were running behind. I then phoned the finance company and was told the settlement money hadn't been sent! I did eventually get my money back, which wasn't the point. It did put a small financial strain which we didn't deserve. I emailed Richard Hardie two weeks ago with my complaint. Sadly I'm still waiting for a reply. It seems obvious now that once they had my money they were no longer interested. Over the years we've bought several cars from them, it won't be a surprise that they've lost our custom. This is such a shame as a simple apology after our complaint would have sufficed.

My mothers brand new MG3 battery died after 14 months of ownership, only to be told this was not covered as part of the warranty and I quote " even if it was they could not get the car in for a week and a half". Absolute disgrace.
I purchased a Fiat 500 lounge June 2019, as a new driver I was a lamb to the slaughter for Richard Hardie Fiat Silverlink! The car I chose, I was told would be valeted before I picked it up and with a full tank of fuel. This was not the case, the salesman did give in and filled the tank, but I drove off with a grubby car. This turned out to be the smallest of issues. The car itself broke down at the entrance to the Tyne Tunnel, the clutch broke. The garage did pick me up and retrieved the car. Fixed the issues and fingers crossed that’s been fine since. Next hump in the road, road tax. I received no reminders but did get a bug red sticker on my window as the Fiat salesman had not transferred my details to the DVLA! You would think that would be enough issues for one car sale, nooo. I was offered a free service to compensate for the original breakdown, they did not honour this. Next issue, time to replace tyres, of course I chose a different mechanic to do this work, but low and behold there was no locking nut in the car. The one person available to speak to, Kyla, said they’ll do nothing after 2 years but I could buy one! Please avoid like the plague, poor customer service from the get go. Top money for substandard product and service.

Sold a car with full service history and 2 keys, which we kept chasing and never received, salesman blocked us so we were unable to contact him..... 4 years down the line we hand the car back in, only to be then told we are being charged £800 for the service book missing and the book not being stamped.... We have invoices of services, which they won't accept, we call Richard Hardy for there help as they did not provide the things we are being charged for and of course they are giving us a book which will knock off £25 of the 800 bill and were supposed to be grateful. Spoke to an arse of a manager at Silverlink and seemingly because they have now sold the Durham branch its not there issue. My daughter was actually going out with one of the salesman at Silverlink and he was there at the sale when she didn't receive these when she picked up the car..... But they don't want to involve him!!!!he could verify that she did not receive them but he has chose not to.... this should explain the morals of the staff
