Took my abarth there for a full service and couldn't fault the work. Car had a gearbox issue due to active accident repair breaking it, Richard Hardie ordered new one from Italy and replaced clutch and dual mass flywheel as well. Better job than Arnold Clark abarth in Scotland and quicker and efficient. Service department staff brilliant.

Richard Hardie is the "best" place you could ever go if you fancy trying out different parts for your car. I bought a brand new MG and it has already had 3 clutches in a year (2 within the space of 6 weeks)! WOW! Are you concerned about what speed you are going? Then Richard Hardie has the car for you, the speedometer randomly goes black when you're driving, so you don't know what speed you're going. Out of sight, out of mind right? And if you are worried about needing a courtesy car, while yours is in the garage? Well don't! They rarely have any available meaning you can sit and wait for hours on end instead. What better way to spend your weekend or weekday? But if you are one of the lucky ones to drive one of their few courtesy cars, make sure you pack light, as it will likely be a Fiat 500 (I have had the pleasure of driving 3 of them instead of my SUV). Don’t worry if you get a bit wet while you’re out and about, the car tends to come with some lovely dirty towels left in the boot, just for your convenience… and if you fancy spending your hard earned cash on fuel for the courtesy cars and public transport when your car is not working instead of a holiday? This place is perfect for you! If being patronised, ignored, lied to and your safety concerns brushed off are on your to do list, again don't worry. The staff at Richard Hardie, especially the after sales manager have you covered! Make sure you act fast before even more issues arise... the rear wiper motor failure, faulty battery and warning lights every time the car is on, are just a few of the wonders that I have had the pleasure of experiencing which were all confirmed with an independent investigator. *I’m not normally one to leave bad reviews, or to call out organisations. But the experience I have had with Richard Hardie over the past 18 months have been disgraceful. Sending me out with a dangerous car over and over again telling me it “drives like a dream” and the car is “100%” before breaking down on motorways multiple times.

Daughter bought fiat abarth sunderland branch, total death trap, within week it needed 2 front wishbones, couple weeks after that the cars front tyres were showing wires on inside cos the tracking was miles out, the handle broke on it, leaky valve boost, shes only had the car 4 months and the exhaust is blowing and the new tyre that was fitted won't seal because the guy they used to refurb the wheels did shocking job and damaged the alloy.......we didn't even recieve the mot for it, we only know its got one cos we checked the app, aftersales are not interested.

Richard Hardie Sunderland sells lemons. They screw you over and then treat you with contempt. I say this based on real experience. It took me two distressing years of arbitration and court action to get my money back on a Jeep that suffered catastrophic engine failure within weeks of purchase. Be warned. Your stereotypical ‘dodgy dealer’ isn’t limited to just second hand sellers these days. It seems even a supposedly reputable franchise like Richard Hardie would fleece innocent customers at any given chance. As mentioned in other negative reviews, it appears that salesman, Karl Ashley, and general manager, Ryan Luke, have acted unscrupulously on several occasions. My case ended up going as far as UK Trading Standards and Jeep global head office. That should tell you enough about whether to do any business with these cowboys.

I'm sorry to say I would not use Richard Hardie again. I was not impressed with the service, it is as if they wanted you just in and out so pretty poor. I will go elsewhere next time!
