Purchased a BMW from riverside cars for my son today. Impressed with the service we received could not have been better, Charlie the salesman was brilliant. Would not hesitate to purchase from this garage again,
This company tried to sell me a car that within 3 days urgently needed a new alternator, slave pulley and fan belt ..they said the car was fine so I took in to 2 independent garages who both said the same the car was in desperate need of repair and they denied this .. lies and lies come from this company be very careful if you decide to buy your car from here it would be money wasted!

Be wary. My experience was a serious breakdown within weeks. Contacted AA warranty. Followed advice to take to nearest AA approved garage as it was in limp mode. Riverside Car Sales flatly refused to accept any responsibility because we couldn't get the car 120 miles to them in limp mode. Upshot is a damaged turbo that had to be replaced and we were informed it had been like it since before we had the vehicle. The drive afterwards confirms this it's now a different car to what we bought. The other thing to watch out for is payment. They wouldn't allow us to pay by debit card and insisted on bank transfer only. We now have no option but to pursue our money through county court.
Charlie from Riverside Car Sales in response to Awful
Hi again Nicola, This is now the 7th review we've seen from you. We await the court paperwork but no claim has been made. Our position remains unchanged - we offered to fix the vehicle free of charge and you insisted it was done at a 3rd party garage and demanded we paid the bill. We are not obliged to pay for work done by someone else.
ive Had lots of cars over the years but this was the most stress free purchase I’ve ever had, the garage literally did everything. All I had to do was sign. Car was in immaculate condition. Fantastic service thank you to Eddie and Charlie who dealt with my sale. Would highly recommend Riverside Car Sales.

I searched for a while for a new Subaru WRX STi after having sold my 15 year old impreza model. I seen that Riverside Car Sales had one going and jumped at the opportunity to purchase it. The staff were brilliant at the time putting the sale through, but when I got home the car seemed to overheat for a few days and then suddenly stopped. So 4 weeks after buying the car it seemed to overheat again, so I emailed Riverside Car Sales and did not get a reply. I visited 2 Subaru garages close by to me and they suggested I contact the garage I bought it from to sort the issue out, which I did again. Still no reply. I had a local garage look at it for me and they told me it could be the Thermostat, so I got them to replace it. Overheating was still happening from a few miles from home, so my father decided to call them. They wanted £140 for a pick up truck to pick the car from my home to their garage for them to look at it. I agreed and the car was picked up (and the pickup driver damaged my bumper in the meantime) and was with them for 6 days. When they called me to let me now that the car was ready, they told me it was just the thermostat that needing replacing. This had already been done 2 weeks before and my bill came to just under £200, keeping in mind I had only had the car 7 weeks. So out of 8 weeks of having the car from purchase, 5 weeks it was off road sat on my drive. So, today I still have ongoing issues with the car. Still overheating, coolant overflowing through the expansion tank and Riverside just don't want to know now that they have had their sale. So this week, it's back in a local Subaru garage and they have told me that whoever sold me the car should have sorted the problem out before I bought it or should have sorted the problem out as soon as I reported it. So, this issue is now going to cost me between £600 - 800 for the work to be carried out.

Charlie from Riverside Car Sales in response to Problems within the first month
Hi Dylan, This complaint was dealt with primarily by ourselves and then by the finance company. Unfortunately in this case, they decided against you and dismissed your claim. This was, in part, due to the fact that you had extensively modified the vehicle. We can only be expected to warrant a vehicle and it's component where they are fitted by the manufacturer and the vehicle operates within it's manufactured limits.
We brought a mini roadster from Riverside Car Sales, it looked a lovely little car, and a reasonable price, the sales staff explained the more you haggle the price down then the repairs ie paint chips, wheel trims etc don’t get repaired, well I wanted the paint chips in the doors and bonnet repaired, wheel trims and small dent in the door repairing and we was happy to pay the asking price. When we collected the car it looked like the majority of the paint chips had been done, wheel trims repaired, the dent in the door was still there. It was a couple of days later that we realised that some of the buttons in the stereo don’t work, now you think this isn’t a big issue until you want to use the hands free or trying to tune the stereo in. We contacted riverside and they stated that it doesn’t come under the warranty, we looked at getting this resolved ourselves and it was going to cost us £1000 to resolve, riverside state that they can’t check all the buttons in a vehicle, well if you are selling a vehicle with hands free you should ensure these features are working. Also they never had the paint work repaired just polished them so they weren’t visible, car has since been washed and all the hidden chips and scratches are now visible, I would not recommend they are just out to get your money!!! Please do not buy a car from here ! They haven’t even answered our review or our complaints . Arthur daily wasn’t this bad.
Charlie from Riverside Car Sales in response to Please do not buy from riverside cars
Hi there, just to respond to this review, so everyone hears both sides. We explained numerous times to you before the sale and upon collection that the dents may not come out completely, but that we would get the professional dent removal company to try their best at no charge to you. As with the radio, we were happy to replace this with a second hand unit for you so that numbers 1 and 6 would work as intended. Unfortunately you insisted that you would only accept a brand new replacement from Mini at over £1000. We feel this to be unreasonable, given that the unit found at £80 would have resolved the issue you described.
Bought a car from Riverside Car Sales, on the day of test drive had a fault light. Fast forward 2 months and 4 visits to get problem fixed, fingers crossed this time it is fixed. Apparently the fault is due to us, after calling and speaking to the managing director, who is threatening, aggressive and try’s to intimidate you, he is fixing our problem out of the goodness of his heart, remember the problem that was there on the test drive!!! This car is still in warranty and they are basically doing me a favour, make of that what you will! . Proceed with caution if using this company.

Charlie from Riverside Car Sales in response to Good cars shame about service
Unfortunately, inflating tyre pressures to over 45 PSI will cause damage to tyre pressure monitoring valves - as it did in this case. We are always happy to help, but no warranty in the world will cover negligence.
Brilliant service especially from Charlie Reid when I brought my vehicle. Saw the vehicle on Auto trader and got a fast response via email. As the dealership was 1 hour away I asked for a video round the vehicle to see if it's something I would like to look into more and make the trip, this was sent the same day. From start to finish everything was great and would highly recommend Riverside Car Sales in the future.
Riverside Car Sales claim they left the locking wheel nut under passenger seat and when we came to need it just after 12 months from purchase, they claim it was left there ! (Most companies leave locking wheel nuts in glove box or boot with the spare) They agreed to check the PDI sheet (pre-delivery inspection sheet) but this would take a day or two as they were busy. Once they checked this they confirmed it was written on the PDI sheet which I accept but said I could not find my copy of this. I asked the salesman (Charlie) if this was a copy of the one completed when they serviced and checked my car when I purchased it to which he said YES which I accepted at the time, although they would not confirm this in writing and told me they can no longer help me and will not be replying to any more emails. I searched everywhere for this PDI sheet and to my amazement I have now found the PDI they issued to me when I collected the car. This document is printed however, the one they issued to me when I asked where the locking wheel nut was is hand written with no mileage on although he claimed this was the one completed when I purchased the car as it was a photo copy of the original one issued !!!!!!.
Charlie Reid from Riverside Car Sales in response to Dont trust them
Hi there, You were given a pre-delivery inspection sheet at handover detailing the location of the Locking Wheel Nut for your vehicle. You then phoned me almost 18 months later and demanded I paid for a new locking wheel nut set because it was never in the car. The handwritten paper you received from me a couple of months ago was in fact the original mechanic's pdi sheet (which we type up and give to you on handover because it looks more professional). To get this I dug out literally thousands of invoices and'd it matched exactly what was said on your copy of the sheet. After calling me a liar numerous times and getting aggressive on the telephone (once it came to light that I hadn't lied and you did, in fact recieve a full typed pdi sheet), I felt that our conversation had reached it's end. While we will always go out of our way to help our customers, we do not and could not be expected to receive a torrent of abuse, especially when the mistake is actually your own.
From the moment you step onto the forecourt you will be in for a surprise,as nobody rushes out the door trying to get you to buy a vehicle. We originally spoke to Clive and went to look at a Kia Sportage but ended up looking at a couple of other cars, there was no pressure, we didn’t feel rushed by Clive who made us feel welcome and introduced us to Max (lovely old Staffy). We ended up purchasing a Hyundai and although there were a couple of very small minor issues, these were dealt with within a week of me taking ownership of the car. All round great service and would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends.
Charlie from Riverside Car Sales in response to Excellent used car dealership
Thank you so much for leaving a 5* review, it means a lot to all the team at Riverside. I will personally pass this feedback on to Clive and make sure Max gets a biscuit! Kind regards,
