I visited Saxtons Chelmsford and was greeted by the reception girls who were helpful and advised me to take a look around the show room. They advised me one of the team would come and find me to discuss my requests. James approached me who was very professional, friendly and listened to what my request was in finding a new car. We went through what was in stock (in particular Jaguar E Pace) and showed me where to look. James and a further team member Brett came to find me, James introduced Brett and advised me that he would be looking after me. Brett was lovely, so relaxed, calm, very helpful nothing was too much trouble. I found a car and took it for a test drive, I was nervous but Brett made me feel at ease straight away. I loved the car and decided I wanted to purchase it. I had questions and wanted to make a deal…. Brett was extremely accommodating! The sale went smoothly, all that I wanted was carried through at a high level of importance, professionally and friendly. We shook hands. I returned 4 days later to take ownership of my new car, Brett was just pulling in at the front, perfect timing! Brett introduced me to Jenna who went through the paper work tax etc and was very friendly and lovely. My whole experience was extremely positive and smooth thanks to the wonderful team! I was really impressed by Saxton 4x4 on my initial showroom visit. The staff are friendly and welcoming. You have free access to view any car you’d like within the showroom (which is enormous), just give them the reg and they’ll provide the keys. We didn’t find it an overly personable experience. You go in there knowing what you’re looking for, find it, buy it. Prices are apparently non negotiable, which is fair enough considering their AutoTrader price ratings are generally ‘Good’ or ‘Great’ prices. So you know you’re getting a good deal. We found the car we liked, discussed finances on the phone and agreed the following day (a Sunday) that collection would be at 09:30 the following Saturday, just under a week away. Fine by me as it suits my work schedule. Collection day was the let down for me. I arrived and the car hadn’t been prepared and it seemed they were not expecting me that day. I was asked if I received a link to sign some documentation prior to arriving. I hadn’t, so they sent this to me whilst I waited in the showroom. Upon review, there were a few errors in the documentation. The ‘Under Protect’ that was sold to me on the Sunday prior hadn’t been selected on the vehicle purchase form, amongst a few other errors. When I questioned the sales person, I was advised the ‘Under Protect’ was completed earlier in the week, but things weren’t adding up. I questioned them further on some other items and I was later advised they messed up - the Under Protect hadn’t been applied, the paperwork was incorrect, and the car hadn’t be prepared ready for handover. Whilst I waited for the car to be prepared, they corrected the documentation and sent to me for signatures. A further 30-40 minutes, the car is ready for handover. We go outside and are presented with a really clean car. Downsides of the rushed handover… As this car is my first hybrid, I’m unsure if it’s standard practice but the battery was completely flat (assuming they could have charged this if they were prepared for handover), so I had ‘battery low, vehicle may not start’ messages appearing on the dash. At the petrol station on the way home (maybe 10 miles away), I noticed a nail through the right rear tyre. I took a time stamped photo and sent this to Saxton 4x4 and asked if they’d address it. The response was ‘no, we thoroughly examine our vehicles prior to handover and this could have been picked up at any point’. I guess this is fair enough considering it is a wear and tear item, however, I wasn’t fully convinced the car had been ‘thoroughly examined’ prior, due to the rushed nature of the handover. The nail looked corroded, the white corrosion you get when nails have been sitting in a dry but humid environment. If I was a betting man, I’d say the nail was in the tyre prior to handover of the vehicle. This also leads me to the servicing element. The vehicle was due an inspection within the next 6 months, so Saxton 4x4 appear to have serviced the vehicle. I’m waiting for the virtual logbook to be updated so I can tell. But again, due to the rushed nature of this handover, was the correct due diligence taken during the service? I will never know. That said, would I use Saxton 4x4 again? Yes Would I do anything differently? Yes, I’d call a few days before handover to ensure everything is prepared for the day. Recommendations for Saxton 4x4? Yes, look ahead at your diary and ensure cars are prepared for collection!

Great communication and attention to detail, especially from Jahan. I was not able to inspect the car myself so in addition to sending me the standard video they make of all their stock, Jahan made an additional video for me addressing my particular concerns about things to check with the vehicel that I was interested in. They no longer regularly deliver vehicles, but made an exception for me. Very pleased with the car and would recommend Saxton and Jahan to anyone who is looking for a great car and professional customer service.

Really stress free buying experience. Jonty was great with dealing with all my questions, we spent one weekend looking at a variety of cars, with zero pressure. We then came back the following weekend to test drive a Range Rover Velar. We decided to purchase it, trading in our old car. All the paperwork was handled very efficiently by Jenna. Really happy with the car, would definitely use Saxtons again
