This was the first time that I have bought a car from an independent car dealer. Neil was highly professional and surpassed my expectation regards the service he provided. The Audi S5 I purchased was and still is in excellent condition and the value of the trade in on my Scirrocco was very fair. I would have no hesitation in purchasing my next vehicle from Neil and this purchase has opened my eyes to steer clear of mainstream dealers.
I recently purchased a Jaguar XK from Neil at Select Motors and found Neil's knowledge and experience of a range of prestige and sports cars very helpful in supporting making my final decision to purchase an XK. A very relaxed no pressure sales environment and an excellent vehicle sourced - exactly as described. I would recommend Neil and Select Motors and would have no hesitation in making Select my first port of call when it comes to my next purchase...if I ever get bored of the XK.
Over the past 10 years I have brought 3 cars from Neil and will be going back to him in a couple of months to buy my son his first car too . I have found Neil to be very honest and up front when buying cars from him and any concerns I have found with the vehicle have been quickly resolved to my satisfaction . I have no problems recommending Neil to people I know as recommendation is the best endorsement when it comes to buying a car trustworthy

I hate buying cars. My experiences in the past have left me wondering if there are any decent honest dealers out there. I have now found what I really needed in the team at Select Motor Trading. I was totally put at ease through the sale process and felt reassured. The dealer Neil knew the cars he had to offer.and answered my questions indepth. He made himself available answering my calls promptly. I would recommend strongly looking at what this dealer has to offer. I haven't had any problems with my car and will be going back to see Neil at Select Motor Trading Warrington when I'm next looking for a car.

Having read the other review I am genuinely shocked at the customer's feedback. I would therefore like to share my very different and positive experience of dealing with Select Motor Trading. I recently bought a car from Neil and felt it was important to spread the word about the great service I received. I had excellent communication right from the beginning through to the sale. Neil is a really personable and approachable guy, and so willing to help, which wasn't what I expected from a dealer. He was always just at the end of the phone if I had any queries. This was only my second time of buying a car on my own so I was quite apprehensive but Neil really put me at ease and knew his stuff. I would not hesitate to recommend Select Motor Trading to any friends or family.
Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend buying a car from Select Motor Trading Warrington. I purchased a Jaguar from SMT a couple of months ago, and even though I asked specifically if the vehicle had any known issues or had any notable bodywork repairs, I was told it didn't. I agreed to leave a holding deposit and collect the car on the weekend (as I live 100 miles away). Unfortunately it was a cold icy morning and because of that the bodywork wasn't clearly visible to me until I got home, but I (stupidly) took the owner's word on things. The car had had some very badly repaired body panel repair at the rear which I am having to have re-sprayed. I appreciate that I would have seen this in clear conditions - and that isn't the owner's fault, but I asked specifically about the condition on the phone and was told it was as-new. Worse still, was the very bad vibration throughout the car which turned out to be 2 of the wheels being badly buckled and needing replacing at a cost of £600. This would have been 100% obvious to anybody who had driven the car over 30mph, but my test drive was dictated to a short 1 mile trip and speeds of around 20-30mph. I therefore didn't know about the issue until I had purchased the car and had got to the motorway. It's my opinion that the owner would have known this, and again chose not to inform me when I asked about any issues. It also wasn't mentioned to me until I got there that one key was missing. These cost around £250 to replace. I emailed the business owner/salesman, Neil, about the bodywork and issue with the wheels to give him a chance to reply and accept responsibility for this, but disappointingly I received no reply. Be cautious. ******************UPDATE TO REVIEW, SEPTEMBER 2015********It's interesting to note, that 9 of the 10 reviews 'ever' made about this dealer, were done so in August 2015 and all 5-star reviews ? In all the time prior to August 2015, there was just 1 review made (which was a poor one). *************************************REVIEW UPDATE AS OF 02.01.16**********************************Please could you add a further update: “Of even more concern is that Select Motor Trading had applied for finance on the vehicle just before I purchased it from them (Dec 2014), but did not clear it from the HPI register. I wasn’t aware of this until I came to sell the vehicle in Aug 2015 when luckily a trader contacted me to ask why I was selling a car with finance outstanding (I knew nothing about it). As you can imagine this caused huge problems for me when I tried to sell it as HPI reports were showing outstanding finance dating back 9 months. Please note this review is a Verified review, meaning that documented proof has been provided by me to owner of the website.”

Mr Barnes With reference to your issues you have with Select Motor Trading. We would like to clear up a couple of points. Firstly before any car is purchased at our business the customer has more than enough information and time to make a decision on whether or not they want to proceed with the sale. Every motor dealer will have a set out test drive route which can always be extended if required. Finally, the outstanding finance that you are accusing of being present on the vehicle is inaccurate. The car was purchased with a unit stocking loan, which was cleared off immediately upon the sale. The finance company did not update there system, which is beyond our control. If Mr Barnes has any on going issues with this matter, or any other then we welcome him to contact our business. Kind regards SMT

I contacted you a long time ago about the issues with the buckled/cracked wheels and scrappy bodywork but you weren't interested. So why even suggest I contact you about the Finance imprint that was still showing outstanding for months after I purchased the car ? Only 2 reviews on here are marked as Verified - funny that isn't it!?
