Came very close to buying a car from here. Checked reviews on here first an am so glad I did. Saved me wallet an me skin. Look at the reviews before mine an the comments underneath. The way the garage speaks to an treats their customers really is shocking. They even told me I would be a problem customer just because I found their behavior shocking. No professionalism at all at this place and customer videos are very worrying. If this is how they treat people online they obvs treat people much worse in real life.

I wish we had looked at the reviews prior to buying. In response to a request to consider a complaint about a car they told us that they had a bloody good solicitor and blamed bad driving for a clear corrosion issue.

No corridor issue the car passed a mot in June you purchased the car in July drove the car for 2 and half month without issues no previous problems with corrosion on axle damage to bumper and snapped axle is very suspicious caused by damage to vehicle as advised you to speak to the mot garage who mot the car sure there be happy too help again seen the review’s before unfortunately people are quick to judge when something goes wrong you bought a 2007 car it’s going to have corrison but nothing the mot inspector deemed to be even an advisory

Hi Nic T. Just wanted to let you know that Shotton Part Exchange Centre also kept telling me they had a solicitor, but that turned out to be a laughable lie, they didn't have one at all. Any tough talk from this dealership is just hot air. And I should know, they sold me a faulty car too, tried to pull a number of intimidation tricks on me, and I still beat them in court not so long ago. Report them to Citizens Advice Helpline, they'll forward your report to Trading Standards, and keep sending Shotton Part Exchange Centre your complaint letters and take them to court to get your money back if they don't meet their obligations to your consumer rights. Good luck.

Len you reply is not factual. I’ve left an honest review of our own experience. I came in with my son to talk about our issue and you raised your voice and swore not us. Pointing your stick like a cartoon character! I’d love to see any cctv you have. We simply walked away which you did not like. Also, the issue was NOT minor. The car fell apart and he is lucky there was no oncoming traffic. Someone could have been killed. Also not his own actions. He has witnesses who said he acted in a very polite and mature way at the scene - he was doing 30mph on a straight road. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/ScNNGq6Sz2HuSkqX/?mibextid=UalRPS Take a look at the minor issue with the car.

NEEL in response to Avoid avoid avoid

Dear Nic Tempest-Hall. If a car dealership sells a consumer a faulty vehicle which displays the fault within the first 30 days of purchase then the consumer is legally entitled to return the vehicle, with the car dealership being legally obligated to provide a full refund. If the vehicle displays that fault after the first 30 days of purchase, and certainly within the first 6 months, then the consumer is legally entitled to request a full repair of the fault (at the dealership's cost) or a replacement vehicle - should the car dealership fail to repair or replace the faulty vehicle, or it is considered to be unreasonable to provide the car dealership with this repair/replacement opportunity in the first place (for whatever reason), then the consumer is again legally entitled to a refund. These are your rights as set out in the Consumer Rights Act (CRA) 2015. I see that Mr Evans is pretending to 'offer' you some sort of a repair as a "goodwill gesture", but he is simply deceiving you when claiming this is some sort of goodwill gesture being 'offered' by his dealership - it is not a goodwill gesture at all, because repairing that faulty vehicle they sold you is a legal obligation of his dealership, as per the CRA 2015. By deceptively presenting your rights in law as a distinctive feature of their 'offer' Shotton Part Exchange Centre has actually broken the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 because doing so is an unlawful banned practice. If I was in your circumstances I personally would not allow Shotton Part Exchange Centre the opportunity to repair or replace the vehicle. If I was you I would skip repairs and replacement and just ask for a refund. The reason is twofold - firstly, you say the dealership became hostile and aggressive by shouting and swearing at you and your son after you reasonably approached the dealership about the issues. You simply cannot be expected to risk your own personal safety by entering into further physical contact with this dealership. Secondly, this dealership thrashes and mistreats the vehicles they both sell and use as spare parts, and you should not be expected to accept a repair or replacement from such stock, and from a dealership that treats its stock in such a negligent way to begin with. Evidence of this can be found here: https://rumble.com/v5gscsl-shotton-part-exchange-centre-thrashing-mistreating-and-joyriding-the-cars-t.html You should also know that some of the people commenting on your son's Facebook video are good friends and acquaintances of Len Evans of Shotton Part Exchange Centre and should not be trusted for that reason. And if you believe the vehicle was in a dangerous condition when it was sold to you and that someone could have been killed by that vehicle being on the roads then you should report it to your local police as selling unroadworthy dangerous cars is a criminal offence.

Dear Shotton Part Exchange Centre. I've never claimed to be a company. And I'm not who you claim I am. And you didn't even respond to a single thing that I actually said - people aren't stupid you know, you plucking random links from the internet that have nothing to do with the conversation at hand whilst avoiding the important points being discussed is quite clearly a deceitful diversionary tactic you're trying to pull. Its obviously just the dead cat strategy. You think people are stupid enough to look the other way by blurting out irrelevant nonsense. Staying on topic, I feel you have invited me to inform the public about why you are now called Shotton Part Exchange Centre and not Evans Car and Commercial anymore like you used to be - you changed the company name to Shotton Part Exchange Centre to bury a scandal - after you were caught selling dangerous cars to the public and pleaded guilty for this crime at Peterlee Magistrates: https://www.facebook.com/durhamcouncil/posts/a-shotton-colliery-motor-trader-has-been-brought-before-the-courts-after-a-dange/285358078196075/ And you should think twice before filing false reports with the police as it could land you and your company in a lot of trouble. Have a good evening.

Dear Nic Tempest-Hall. I forgot to mention a few points in my comment to you yesterday. When Shotton Part Exchange Centre said to you "unfortunately you can’t prove it had problem neither can a prove if the car been hit of a curb to course that sort of damage" they are again in breach of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 by means of intentionally deceiving you about your legal rights again. Shotton Part Exchange Centre knows, because as they say themselves they have been "in business for many years", that If a consumer is complaining about a fault within the first six months of purchase it is presumed in law that this fault was there at the time of purchase. It is actually Shotton Part Exchange Centre's legal obligation to prove that this fault was not there at point of sale. Thankfully you have incredibly good evidence that there was a fault at the time of purchase, but the burden of proof is on Shotton Part Exchange Centre and not you as alluded to by this dealership. I wouldn't scrap the car, I'd give Shotton Part Exchange Centre two weeks to provide proof that the fault wasn't actually present at the time of purchase. If they fail to do so then escalate by demanding your money back. Also if a new inherent fault has developed as a result of the first fault, which has happened given the car "fell apart" and subsequently damaged other parts of the vehicle as it dangerously broke down, then, along with the other reasons given in my last comment to you, you would be within your rights to demand your money back. I notice that Shotton Part Exchange Centre has made a big fuss about the MOT being clean - this is an excuse they have used in other court cases they have lost. Should Shotton Part Exchange Centre try to deceive you into believing that the supposedly clean MOT is proof that the vehicle had no faults at the time of sale please remind them of this: The Drivers and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the government's legal custodians of MOT's, clearly states in its MOT Testing Guide that MOT Certification relates only to the condition of the testable components at the time of the test and should not be regarded as evidence of the vehicle's condition at any other time, or be regarded as evidence of the general mechanical condition of the vehicle. The MOT Certificate is simply not legally accepted proof that a vehicle was without fault at the time of sale. So if I was you I'd be asking Shotton Part Exchange Centre to stop going on about that MOT Certificate give you actual acceptable evidence that they sold that vehicle without fault. I notice they've also told you to take your complaint up with the the MOT Garage - it has absolutely nothing to do with the MOT Garage, Shotton Part Exchange Centre sold you the vehicle, they are solely responsible for any undisclosed fault the vehicle had at the time of sale and they know this, they are just intentionally misdirecting you. And should Shotton Part Exchange Centre try to pass off a pre-delivery inspection to you as "proof" please do let us know as we would likely then have further information to supply to you.

They sold me a car faulty car, which I rightfully tried to return. They refused to accept the faulty car back, and as soon as I pointed out my consumer rights they got aggressive - shouting, swearing, trying to intimidate etc. Long story short, it was awful having to deal with them and I ended up having to take them to court to get my money back. I'm not the only one either - look at the County Court Judgements register, and you'll see many people have had to take them to court over just the last year alone. Don't believe the positive reviews on Google, they are fake reviews left either by the owners of this place or their friends and family. Read the negative reviews, check the County Court Judgement register (Trust Online) and save yourselves the trouble of having to suffer dealing with this shocking excuse for a car dealership. There's a good reason they were kicked off of AutoTrader!

Mr E in response to Avoid This Awful Place

Hi Amanda. Sorry for the late response. I am sorry to hear your daughter has fallen victim to this 'dealership' too. I'm afraid I can't provide advice as it really does all depend on the specific details of your daughters case against them and how those specific points tie-in with UK law. If I was you (or your daughter) I'd speak with both Citizens Advice Bureau and Trading Standards, both whom can guide you in the right direction. If the car is the deathtrap you say it is I'd also contact the police as that would be a criminal matter. I hope your daughter manages to get her money back. Hi Sunny. It is an awfully long process but totally worth it in the end, even just to see them lose. If they've played the same game with you that they did with me, any talk of them having a solicitor isn't true, they don't have one, but they did hire a rather cheap and comically bad barrister on the day of trial who will contact you beforehand and laughably try and scare you off. Just ignore this barrister, don't even answer your phone, just go in and present the judge with the evidence and let them do their thing. Don't forget to ask the judge for costs and expenses in addition to the car's value. I wish you the best of luck but given my experience with Shotton Part Exchange Centre, and just how blatantly unscrupulous they are, I don't think you'll need it.

I would not award this garage any stars though had to award one on google Reviews to get the post on the review. Extremely disappointed with the owners of this garage. Firstly when I telephoned to mention the faults with the car, a Kia Picanto, that was bought with my grandson's hard earned money, they accused the garage that I had taken it to because the exhaust was blowing very badly, of telling lies. They further went on to say 'they're having your eyes out' when I explained what it was going to cost to rectify all the problems with the car. They made no attempt to respond to two registered letters I sent them outlining the problems, on the guidance of Trading Standards. They have completely ignored any request for compensation/refund/part cost of repairs or to at least accept some responsibility and bring the car to a roadworthy standard. We were aware of a minor leak in the exhaust OFF brake pipe corroded Nearside drive shaft joint deterioration What we weren't told about was R brake pads and discs 90% worn NSF strut top mount excess play OSF wheel bearing failed and noisy Exhaust has holes along it's length blowing front and rear NSF outer CV boot split, leaking grease OSR sill holes corroding, jack points severely corroded Both front ABS rings on joints corroded to excess We did point out that the car had only been driven by a previous owner for 945 miles from passing its test in September 2023, until February 2024 when my grandson purchased it. That amount of wear couldn't have possibly occurred in that short time. I would question whoever carried out the MOT. Suffice to say and I'm sure it's of no concern to Shotton Car Exchange, that we would never purchase from them again. Extremely rude and uncooperative.

My partners mother purchased a car in September 22. Initial impressions were fair for the age of the car. Drove home and realised the central locking was faulty and the car had to be returned. In fairness this was resolved in a few days, but I’ll continue. 6 weeks later whilst my partners mother was driving a 2-year-old to nursery - a wishbone and drive shaft snapped whilst travelling at 50+ mph - leaving her stranded on a dual carriageway. A miracle no one crashed into the stationary car! The Car was recovered by the police and dropped at the nearest ‘approved’ garage. Recovery / repair / labour £400. The mechanic commented on the dangerous condition of the removed parts. I visited 3 additional garages for feedback on the snapped wishbone. All of whom said the condition was an absolute disgrace! One station kindly put the car on their ramps and inspected the second wishbone. Large rust holes and ‘severe’ corrosion across the length of the part and joints. I Emailed / WhatsApp the photo’s to Shotton Garage. No response when messages had been read. No answer to x2 initial calls. Had the second wishbone replaced for peace of mind. Extra £100. The garage also confirmed various oil leaks which required immediate attention. Eventually got through to Shotton Part Exchange Centre and tried to discuss a reasonable resolution. I was told the car was inspected prior to sale and any rust holes or corrosion occurred in the time we had the car (6 weeks & 650 miles). I was threatened over the phone and the owners told me – "they don’t care about web reviews or there reputation". I was then told I could return the car for a refund; however, i would be £500 down in recovery and repair costs. No doubt - Shotton would re-sell the car for the same price; now advertised with new wishbones and drive shaft! I asked for help towards the cost of the repairs - and this was promptly and aggressively refused. The owner confirmed a thorough inspection is carried out on all cars prior to sale. Take pride in keeping their customers happy? How were the obvious defects not picked up? Central locking also missed on their pre-sale checks? Now I appreciate it’s an old, used car but this is not just bad luck. This is gross negligence. No morals exist on this forecourt. Please avoid!

You have owned the car for nearly 3 month mot was until March 2023 no advisorys on corrison on wishbones which verify there where fit for mot 6 month prior the car was 16 year old car which was fine a point of sale wishbone ball joint can go at any time we replaced the door lock promptly which we where hounded and non stop phone calls same again point sale was working we offered to buy the car back even tho we don’t have to after 30 days people like yourself think u gonna buy a £1299 car and have no problems in the time of ownership unfortunately that’s not gonna happen if your have any further questions ring us instead of trying to ruin a person business

GB in response to Please Avoid...... At all costs !

I called the business and was threatened, verbally abused and received terrible customer service. Why would i call back and have the same experience? Yes you fixed the locking and why are we not within our rights 'to hound' ? Leaving a car open on the street is not ideal. The central locking was obviously not checked prior to sale and is a fundamental part of securing a vehicle. I am not trying to ruin the business. I am merely commenting on my experience which is exactly what this site is for. I agreed these things can happen on a 16 year old car. It passed an MOT in March 2022 but ... but you were the person who sold the car in September 2022. The damage occurred after having the car 6 weeks. You confirmed you thoroughly checked the car prior to sale so the onus is on you, not the MOT garage. You sold to a woman who confirmed the car was to transfer a toddler to nursery. The state of the wishbones. Hanging on by a thread. Holes everywhere. Disgrace and you have put their lives at risk. Numerous reviews have said the same. I have also reviewed on google with x4 pictures / auto trader / Yell. Please have a look at the photos and tell me the parts have only deteriorated in the last 6 weeks & 650 miles!?! You offered to but the car back after we spent £500+ on 'recovery', parts and labour..... which would have been prevented if the car was inspected and the parts replaced prior to sale.
