The service was great to start with. Nice guy! Honest and upfront, or so I thought. No pressure sale. Fast forward 5 months and I've had to buy a new car. From day one I noticed a sulfur smell in the car when accelerating, the car also jolted when going at higher speeds, and I noticed the engine fan would come on more frequently than previous cars I've owned. This was my first petrol car and so I thought it was likely just differences between the engines and maybe if the car had sat parked for a while. How wrong I was. The car started burning oil. A trip to a friends garage for a check showed that the car is now kaput! Gasket on it's way out and I've been advised not to drive it. So yeah it's parked up with no help from the Signature Car Sales at all. I called up because he seemed like a reasonable guy when I got the car. Firstly he said I didn't get an extended warranty, when it was all here in front of me. Then I was told "Oh yeah, you came back 3 days later to buy it." No I didn't, the paperwork I have (that he filled out) is dated the same day I purchased the car, but he was adamant I came back... Anyway, I advised the engine was burning oil and the coolant overflowed when checked by the mechanic. "Oh, well it will do that when the engine is hot, he should know that." He did know that, and the engine was not hot when it was opened. When I advised I was told not to drive it, his answer was, well if it's burning oil, you should keep driving round and checking it to see the rate it's burning the oil at. Thankfully I have more sense... Anyway, his answer was go through warranty and was very clear he would not be helping in any way. I was palmed off with "Send us an email..." which has basically been filed in the bin I believe. Just to be clear, under the Consumer rights act, if a serious issue is identified with a car within 6 months of sale, it is assumed (unless proven otherwise) that the fault was present at the point of sale. Regardless of warranty, the seller has a responsibility! I did go through the recommended garage in the warranty to play ball, and as expected it was again verified the car is no good and I was advised not to drive it. The work to replace the gasket IS covered by the warranty, BUT it will cost me the same amount anyway for the investigative work to tell them how it happened before they'll replace it and you don't get that money back. So it's a no go, I'm not paying more than the cars worth to have it repaired. Anyway, goes without saying, anyone would expect a car to last more than 5 months. I will be taking it further
