M60OFJ do not buy this car Where to start! Service in the beginning was excellent. Until we drove off the forecourt. When we came back with issues, we were fobbed off time and time again by various staff. After having to take it off the road due to more issues we went back to Simpsons with a long and dangerous MOT fail list and the owner Bryan laughed and made a comment asking if we were expecting HIM to pay for our MOT bill. No interest in our safety, no interest in the fact that the car he paid to put an MOT on was clearly not factual. He made excuses that he didnt personally MOT them. We had to take the car to two independant garages to get seperate opinions for our finance company to agree to take on our case, and each report found that the Kia we purchased was not sold in a durable condition. The extent of the corrosion confirms this was an ongoing issue for multiple years leading him to the conclusion that the vehicle was not sold in a durable condition. Cable ties used to hold the subframe together, amongst other horrific things. I am appalled that I had been driving such an unsafe vehicle and disgusted that this car was ever put on a sales forecourt for me to purchase. I am further appalled that it is now apparently back up for sale with Simpson Motors when two separate garages condemned the car to the breakers yard. A quick look at the MOT history will steer anyone clear of this car. We were never reimbursed the costs incurred having to get this investigated and the numerous garage bills paid during our short ownership and have had nothing, not even a sorry, from the garage. We came to them on a recommendation and will now never trust them again

Bryan Simpson from Simpson Motors in response to Never again!
This is a response for anyone reading the above review , not Mr Duff The above is an extremely unfair and untrue tale of events with what also appears to now be some completely made up information which I want to bring particular attention to below - “Cable ties used to hold the subframe together” there was no mention of this by Mr Duff previously during the whole complaint process, or on either of the 2 mot failures he had done , that’s not even a realistic claim … if that were the case the car would have been lucky to have made it to the end of the road without falling apart , not fail an mot 1 year later still with no mention of this … To anyone reading, this claim alone should hopefully give you some insight as to how ridiculous this claim is in attempt to make things appear worse than they were and slander our name. Yes Mr Duff did experience issues with the car however you can see from our many other reviews this is clearly not how we operate. We are a family run business which have been operating for over 43 years in Dunfermline and have thousands of local customers who return to us time and time again , even Mr Duff says he was recommended to us by someone who had a good experience , however it’s actually his unrealistic expectations of a 13 year old car paired with the inability to take responsibility for his own property and the maintenance it requires that’s the issue here not our service. I also want to make it clear that Mr Duff was also given a full refund for the car over a year later , minus the amount the finance company deducted for the usage he had of the vehicle during that time which was less than £800. Mr Duff owned the car for over a year, The car was supplied the car with a 3 months warranty and a fresh 12 months mot carried out by an independent Mot station. It was made clear from the start that if faults occur after the 3 months it would be his responsibility to fix , he also declined the offer of extended warranty which we offer upto 2 years. When he presented it for an MOT a year after purchase it failed on multiple suspension components and rear sub frame / suspension arms corroded/ seriously weakened. He expected us to cover the cost for this even although this was never part of the agreement we had, to pay for mot repairs a year down the line. Mr Duff mentions Mot history however none of the mots prior or including the one we had carried out had any mention of corrosion to the subframe not even as much as an advisory relating to it , of the 10 previous mots carried out by multiple different garages none found anything relating to this worth mentioning, this would suggest it was not an ongoing issue that was like that at point of sale as he claims but Infact something that has happened during ownership. The first mot to mention this was the one Mr Duff had carried out a year after purchase , and also we would like to note the car now has a tow bar fitted to it which wasn’t there when it left us so it does bear the question what has been towed and in what conditions, is it perhaps a boat being towed in and out of water which has caused the rapid deterioration of the rear subframe … just a guess , however I will leave that up to the interpretation of the reader. The car was certainly not “condemned to a breakers yard” as Mr Duff puts it. Anyone who has any knowledge of cars will know there is almost no parts on a car that cannot be replaced in order to bring it back upto a roadworthy standard. Mr Duff just didn’t want to pay for it. The car is currently advertised as due in as we are now in the process of having all the work done on the car which does include a complete replacement of the rear subframe. We ofcourse welcome and would encourage any potential buyers to check the mot history of this and any car they are considering. We also welcome any pre purchase inspections of this or any car we have for sale. We will be more than happy to show anyone in detail the work that will have been carried out on this car once it is offered for sale. I thank you for taking the time and reading my response Kind Regards Bryan Simpson

Simpson Motors is a family run business by Raymond Simpson and his son Bryan Simpson. Raymond Simpson has been supplying quality used cars to Dunfermline and surrounding areas since 1980 when Simpson Motors was originally established at Mid-Beveridgewell in Dunfermline, He quickly outgrew that site and moved to our current premises in Rumblingwell Dunfermline which has 4 times the capacity of the old garage.
We have been in business for over 35 years now and have built up a large amount of return customers who actively recommend us to their friends and family. In more recent years we have found people travelling from all over the country to take advantage of our great deals & cars.
