Just want to say a big thank you to the very nice people at this garage. I have lost interest in modem cars of late and always missed my old Mercedes 190 i had back in 1989 as my company car when I was promoted to area manager when I sold carpet for a living. I did not think I could find a good one after many fruitless trips with my grandson trying to do so, patience prevailed and after a long trip from Wales my quest to rekindle my youth we got the jackpot! These cars are remarkable, they really are... The owner and his staff made me feel special from the point i arrived and despite my indecisive nature choosing which car from the many lovely ones they had, they had the patience of a saint. Within 3 weeks my new old car was on my drive, and he rest is history. I just can't keep our of it and drive it at every opportunity, so, so happty, the low miles will soon be a thing of the past. i really recommend his garage. Best.. Nicho from wales.. Just got my 1st one from specialist cars in Yorkshire, a very nice Range Rover p38, looked at several cars private and at other dealers and the cars here just wipe the floor with others on offer, it’s a must go place if your looking for a very good example with back up from people who know what they are talking about. Top marks!

We bought an Mercedes SLK230 from Specialist Cars York. Car was never right from the word go. Car was spluttering and cutting out so phoned Kristian he blamed the battery and expected me to replace at my cost. I had my local garage test battery battery fine so rang Kristian back who said to bring over to them and he would have his technician look at it but never returned our calls to arrange. MOT came a few months later and failed as it was rotten so cut our losses and traded in before MOT ran out at a more reputable garage. Car had also been tarted up and had a blow over to cover rust

For many, many years now the Mercedes cars we sell are mostly age range 1984 - 1994, predominantly W123`s, W201 190`s and W124`s from the 1980`s and 1990`s, and then some earlier pre 1976 cars.
All these cars were made before 1994.
The SLK even if it were to be in its earliest form (the R170 series), were produced from April 1996 – 2004, after 1994 (to new for us.. not what we sell),
1:- If a 230slk, the car would not be a car we would sell, been too new.
2:- If another form of Mercedes Sports from this era, ie an R129SL (which we do sell), if would be a freshly imported Ex Japan car so would not be corroded or “Rotten” as this post suggests.
Any prospective customer is welcome to examine the Mercedes cars at their leisure we sell to demonstrate this.

I rang specialist cars in the hope they could direct me to someone that had parts for my wd123 mercedes, so bearing in mind I didn't actually buy anything, the gentleman was so helpful and went out of his way to help me!!

Just bought a Japanese import from Specialist Cars York. Process explained to me in great detail. Car better than I could have ever imagined. Delighted with it. Cant recommend enough. I had been to a lot of other garages and cars I was offered were no where near the standard of this vehicle. Thank you.

Had very poor service on 3 occasions at Specialist Cars York, 2 relating to work on my car and 1 when looking to buy a vehicle. Some of their 5 star Google reviews are fictitious too.

As many will know who regularly visit our dealership and have done over the last 25+ years (yes we have been here over quarter of a century now.. time fly's!, and the early 1990`s and all that came with it seems like yesterday) or find out when they do if they are new to our company, we have some very nice workshops, and super facilities all at hand, however although regularly asked DON’T offer a repair service to customer`s for their own cars, and car`s they have bought elsewhere, we are a sales business, we carry out work to these car`s in question, so this reviewer will not have brought his car to us a 1st time to have repairs carried out, nor a second time. Even if we offered such a repair service, why would he keep coming and then consider buying from a garage he was not happy with?.
As many people who are in the repair side of the classic car industry will no doubt agree, in many cases (not all), but in many a repair involves re doing previous work another tradesman or good intention private hobbyist has done poorly, in most cases depending on the level or correction required as a garage owner you then have to deliver bad/terrible news to the owner, normally a nice enthusiast who will have generally been unaware so not a great area of the job and a not one we wish to do, hence as above we DON’T offer a repair service to customer`s for their own cars, and car`s they have bought elsewhere,

Would not touch anything that is related to Specialist Cars York. The owner is unprofessional and definitely not a trustworthy dealer, be careful. Plenty of good dealers in the area but one to avoid. Take mechanics with you!
