Steve had a fantastic range of cars and I am very pleased with the car I bought. It was valeted very well and the customer care was excellent. He took great care to work out any minor problems with the vehicle and he corrected these as part of the service. His follow up was also excellent, paying for further adjustments and serviceable parts at his own expense. He was very prompt with viewing times and I was especially impressed with the powder coated wheel trims to make them as good as new.

Steve and SW Automotive has a good reputation for finding good solid rare cars and in particular cars with DSG box. He has a good selection of VWS and knows his way around Golfs. The Golfs he finds are stunning as he looks for cars like he is looking for himself and does this as a hobby. I was looking for a very rare 2.0 TDI DPF GT DSG with flappy paddles! :) Steve has sorted me with the above fort £7000 delivered to my home address with , 12mts MOT, 3 mths warranty, full VW service history with 8 stamps! After 60,000 miles new alternator, timing/cam belt and water pump fitted by VW. Aso he has said if anything goes wrong go back to him and he will help me out with getting the car fixed. He has also been able to advise me of places close to my address to re-map the Golf to more BHP and better MPG! I would recommend Steve and SW Automotive and will probably ask him top source my next requirement :)

Steve was friendly and a genuinely helpful guy. He was quick to respond to queries via email. I bought a 2005 Nissan x trail from him. The back bumper was scratched and he got it re sprayed for me picking the car up. The car had been valetes , serviced and mot'd 3 tyres were the only advisories on the mot, but Steve said I should get a year out of them. The car drives well and I wouldn't hesitate to use S W Automotive again

Travelled from the south to Scotland to pick up a car, got home and found out there was a ridiculous amount of problems, including handbrake, 6 disc CD player, (which took 3 weeks to eventually get sorted, and still no joy on the handbrake) and now I have found out whilst trying to get rid of the car, SOMEONE has disconnected something which has disabled the engine warning light, therefore, if there was anything wrong, which there is (car is flat from 1st to 2nd) I could've died. So all in all, disgusting service, and I have been well and truly mugged off. Avoid at all costs, it really isn't worth it, better off buying a push bike.

Steve Walsh from SW Automotive in response to R Robinson

Hi, I am the owner of the company. This review in my opinion is totally unjustified and malicious. This customer did buy this car from us and did travel 500 miles. And for a reason. I worked endlessly to get her this car when no1 else could. Hours and hours of paperwork etc. And funny enough she absolutely loved it. The drove all the way down the road without fault. They did however notice the stereo wasn't working. This is our fault and I hold my hands up. The stereo came on and functioned properly however the volume did not work. They contacted us and it was no problem at all. I told them to get their local garage to diagnose it, tell us what they needed, fix it and we would cover all costs. They did this, and even though their garage was 3x the price of what it would have cost us to repair, 23 sent the new parts and paid the bill no problem. She was over the moon. Then a few weeks later she said the handbrake did not work that great. Being a 3 tonne BMW X5 I did inform her that the handbrake are never great, due to the weight of the vehicle, but again, I asked what she needed. The garage said she needed a new handbrake lever. I have sold over 40 x5's and. Ever needed to replace one of them. But because I knew how she was, I ordered a brand new lever from Bmw and have the receipt. Sent that down, and funny enough it's still not great. There was nothing wrong with the current handbrake lever, it's just the fact that 1 cable and 2 little rear calipers are not amazing at holding a 3 tonne 4x4. We never heard again for 6 months. This is where the story gets better. She text a week before this review saying she is upset as she loves her car but can't afford to run it. Fuel, insurance and tax and wants something cheaper. She asked if I would buy it back. Although not to do anything yet as she lived it that much she wanted to be sure. Then all of a sudden I get a text saying the car is terrible and she wants her money back or a contribution to her new car that she is buying. Basically she had went to a garage to buy a cheaper car and realised she was loosing money as only owned the car 11 months. And was looking for any excuse not to lose this money. When I explained there's nothing I could do and I was upset she had done this, she apologised and said she would remove this review! I am disgusted of this situation and feel it's terrible that people can treat others like this for their own financial gain. Especially given how much I did for her! But nowt stranger than folks I guess. I have all the texts and receipts to verify this should any potential customer need piece of mind. I am the most genuine seller and it shows in my cars and service. Please just ask if you need any information on any review. As I openly admit my faults. I am only human. But resolve EVERY one amicably. Regards Steve Walsh Owner/Director

We were slightly wary at first after reading some of the reviews and also due to the fact that it was appointment only. Thankfully we were pleasantly surprised. We found Steve (and Derek) to be very knowledgeable, friendly and easy to deal with. We had a good test drive that was totally unhurried. There were a number of issues with the vehicle we were interested in and these were all resolved prior to us picking up the vehicle - a Ford Ranger. It took a little time but hey - if you want things right then you should be prepared to wait a little. The vehicle was absolutely immaculate when we picked it up. There was an issue with a power window that he couldn't resolve there and then but Steve arranged for us to go to a local garage who are in the process of ordering a bit for it - at Steve's expense. We would be very happy to return to purchase another vehicle and have already recommended to some of our friends. A completely different experience to the usual high pressure salesmen who are not really interested in what you want. We will definitely be back!

You could certainly say that S.W.Automotive conduct their business in a quite unique way. BUT, it`s refreshingly unique in as much as they do exactly as they promise. In the 2nd hand car market that promise sets Steve at S.W.Automotive apart ! I bought a fairly rare car from Steve and on first inspection I was slightly disappointed and when I pointed out the areas that I felt let the car down Steve immediately agreed to put them all right and he did. Not only that he went beyond the agreed items with the result when I picked the car up on 2 days ahead of the original plan it was absolutely immaculate and a credit to Steve and his team. Steve also delivered top end value on my trade in and negotiations with him were open and honest while he had a real desire and genuine interest in my requirements. I can now fully understand why people travel a distance to buy a car from S.W.Automotive and equally so why people go back time and time again as they look to change cars. Integrity in the cat trade ? Will it ever catch on ? Well, it`s there in droves at S.W.Automotive. I would have no hesitation in recommending a visit and a chat with Steve before you buy a used car anywhere else. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Do not go anywhere near this garage.i bought 2 cars one a golf tdi it had 3 tyres with 1mm tread, faulty rear window wiper, air bag fault, no cd player as advertised suppose to come with rigorous inspection what a joke also suspension issues this car just had mot before purchased. The description in adverts no true.secondly bought a audi this also had to have to rear tyres replaced, faulty alarm, no radio working also faulty suspension as well this car also had a years mot and suppose to have a rigorous inspection. Place a joke the owner of company knew we had children and a 12 week old grandchild who would be in the both cars. I have no got rid of audi the golf in booked in to my mechanic to get all the necessary work done at my cost.the owner steve got to cars traded in against both above cars i only got 2600 for a 03 volkswagen golf v6 and a vauxhall vectra.he has the golf on at 4500 and vectra at 1200 for a w plate. He also has the description wrong on vectra in his adverts no electric mirrors and mileage wrong with no full service history. I asked for both my cars returned and money back his word i am ridiculous be sending reports to vosa once the golf is repaired and asked garage i traded audi in for a report to also send to vosa. The owner comes over very nice until you mention problems.this is the worse garage i have ever dealt with in 27 years.WARNING DONT GO NEAR I HAVE LOST A LOT OF MONEY AND LEARNT A HARD LESSON HE WAS PREPARED TO PUT MY CHILDREN AND GRANDDAUGHTERS LIFE AT RISK WITH THEY SO CALLED EXCELLENT CARS WHAT A JOKE.

Colin in response to colin

Further to my previous comments regarding the purchase of audi and golf tdi.i can now confirm the audi i tradeded in required all new front suspension ,the car required a engine flush the alarm was not a blown fused as mr walsh said and had a full service and was re sold with a years mot with no advisories unlike sw automotives at a proper car sales garage no far from sw automotives.i have now purchased a golf v6 from a garage that put a years mot no advisories,a service ,full profesional valet,6 momths road tax, full tank of fuel and a written 3 months warranty and car was cheaper than sw automotives v6 golf i traded in and 58000 less miles with full service history .sw have my former car on at £4500 what a joke!!!!! he only gave me £2400 and theirs the silver vectra on at £1200 me only getting£200 the prices a complete joke.if you want a second hand car with great customer service go to Br cars sales in glenrothes just before council depot at bankhead the service is best i have had in 27 years.STAY AWAY FROM SW AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE I RECIEVED WAS SHOCKING AND CARS NOT AS DESCRIBED IN ADVERT. DONT GO NEAR PROMISES THIS AND THAT ALL LIES.

Hi Colin g can I please use this review in my suit against sw automotive as I’m now experiencing the issues you had with this particular garage? But on this occasion the breaks failed with my kids in the car and after being taught how to use window. Wipers that don’t work and being told I hit something under my car for the exhaust clamp that was rusted and steered off was my fault don’t hold any faith in these. I’ve got all relevant agencies involved and reported garage for falsifying mot certificates. After reading about warning wires being disconnected I think I will have a further inspection done... Please please please guys and girls think carefully before using this garage as everything is the customers fault and he doesn’t reply to message giving me the impression he just wants to waste time till ur warranty runs out.....

Hi I cannot reccommend high enough this whole experience of buying a car from Steve. He is a total breath of fresh air. We couldn't have asked for better service. Honest and reliable seller. Helpful not pushy. We drove 4 hrs to get to this garage with kids and 4 hrs back then the same again a week later to collect the car. IT WAS WORTH IT. GENUINE, HONEST & FAIR. Many thanks once again Maureen

The car I purchased had numerous faults - costing me £7k to purchase and £2.5 to repair over the next 6months. Was non negotiable on price and warranty wasn't worth the paper it was written on. Not impressed - car was presented well but it clearly had not been serviced or maintained while on forecourt. Also had my part exchanged car for sale at almost twice the trade in price (understand a profit has to be made, but double?) Typical user car dealer - only in it for a sale, no interest in quality service or after sales.

Steve Walsh from SW Automotive in response to Steven

Hi Steven, I am sorry you feel this way. It is very unusual. I don't recall you even contacting me regarding any faults with a car? As anyone who contacts me is taken care of no problem. I would be very interested to know what car you bought, what went wrong, and why you never contacted me to ask for help or advice? I feel it's incredibly unfair to give me a bad review when you never even gave me a chance to rectify any problems. No1 has a crystal ball and things with used cars go wrong. It's not what goes wrong but how I deal with them that counts. And I take car of everyone. I must have put an independent warranty on it for you. If you had problems with them, you should have called me and I would have taken care of it. I understand you are frustrated but please get in touch and let me know what went wrong. As I've never been informed of anything. Also with your trade in, I always give the customer what they ask for their trade ins, and no1 leaves my garage upset with their trade in price. If you have asked for too little and I've sold it for double, then I can only apologise, but I will have given you what you asked for your car. Also don't be fooled by what cars are advertised for and what they are sold for. It may have been advertised for double but the next buyer trading in May have been given more for their car. It's all about prices to change. Please get in touch and let me know what went wrong. I'd like to put it right. Steve Owner/Director
