Just got back from a horrible experience with this most unpleasant operation. The car we bought was immediately faulty – BMW 3 series reg NK59GXC – probably best avoided. We almost ran out of time to seek a refund (30 days – if you have a problem immediately look at Citizens Advice online which gives very good guidance against horror companies like this) as the company gave us the runaround. As with other negative reviewers, the company don’t return calls or emails and so I did not trust them to return my money. I can vouch that the abuse the company dish out online is matched in person. I had two of them shouting at me – but only when I was on my own and after a couple of customers had left. I even considered calling the local police just as a way of getting them to back off – it would have been an overreaction as they were just trying to intimidate and were probably unlikely to be violent. Perhaps it would be wise not to be alone on such a visit. I refused to hand over the documents until I had received the refund into my account. I was informed this was done and asked again to hand over the docs. On checking, no funds had arrived – ‘apparently’ the transfer did not go through due to security checks by their bank. 15 minutes later, the money had arrived, and I left, relieved to be away from such hostility. Remember: Pete’s role is to give lots of technical info designed to make you think a problem is being tackled, but the real aim is to get you past the refund rights you have during the first 30 days. Adam’s role is to abuse anyone who has a complaint and he will use confidential information about you such as your credit rating (see negative review of Michael Benfield-Thorpe), fortunately did not use finance. Mandy, the receptionist, appears nice and presents a pleasant front of house, but maybe that is misleading because I cannot see how nice people would continue to work for a firm that is so openly and consistently abusive to customers with any form of complaint.

Adam from The Car Company in response to Untrustworthy and hostile: avoid
Hi Mark, I wish I had seen this sooner as I would most certainly have responded. You did, indeed, purchase an 11 year old BMW 3 Series from ourselves and it was truly a nightmare experience for us. Perhaps we should have seen the warnings signs when you elected to walk around our showroom barefoot, or when you advised Pete your wife has to handle 'the public' at your petting zoo because you 'can't stand them'. In any case, the car did develop a fault and it was returned to us for diagnostics. You attempted to call us around 3 pm on a busy Friday afternoon and everyone, myself included, was dealing with a customer. Your 5 back to back calls went un-answered, however a time stamped entry on our customer database shows a note on your entry, which was assigned to Pete to contact you when free. Sadly, he never got the opportunity as you then felt the need to call repeatedly from a withheld number until I answered the phone. After our chat, which was most unpleasant as your attitude stinks, you posted up reviews on just about every social media site going. We quickly realised you are not someone we want to deal with and offered a full refund. When you came in for your refund you acted like a petulant child, dangling the key and v5 in-front of me but wouldn't hand either of them over. Rightly so, I told to get out of the office and come back when you'd grown up a bit. I think your comment to Pete could more accurately be described as 'my wife deals with customers as I have zero people skills'. Of course, it soon dawned on you that to get a refund you would need to hand over the paperwork and the keys. The refund was processed and, after a slightly inconvenient call to the Barclays aaçnti-fraud team, funds were in your account before you left the building. I genuinely hope there aren't any issues with future purchases, as no garage deserves to deal with individuals as rude and obnoxious as you.
All I can say is if u have to deal with someone make sure it's somebody who will have the decense to phone u back to tell u if I deal can be done I was waiting for a call for 2 days not good enough and never got one

Seems legit!
Having previously bought from Leamington Car Company, I thought we would look here for a new car for my husband. We were greeted at the door by Nyall and had a discussion of what we were looking for. For an independent car company, there is a good range of cars and we were able to look, test drive and buy the car all in the same day! Nyall was fairly straight talking with not too much sales patter (something we hate!). On choosing my husband’s car, I then mentioned I would need to change mine soon due to having a young baby. I was shown cars within my price range and they worked really hard to get the best finance deal that suited my budget. They also let me test drive the car for over 3 hours which gave me a really good idea of it’s suitability. Both cars came with a warranty, recent MOT and were spick and span. AND we got an even better deal buying two cars. I was most impressed that they remembered me from years ago and they certainly do reward customer loyalty! I was impressed by their customer service also; I’m a person who always has a million questions and they answered all of these very satisfactorily for me. Pete was also very helpful on the more mechanical and logistical questions about the cars. Overall- very professional customer service but friendly and down to earth, very fair prices and a very smooth process. I was dreading buying a car to be honest but The Car Company Leamington made it very enjoyable!
Very good team at The Car Company, thanks Nyall for everything mate.

I went to these guys for a BMW 3 Series Touring. I had my loan in place through a big on-line broker but asked if they could beat it BUT specifically requested NO HARD SEARCHES. One soft search later & they had me set-up with Blue Motor Finance, who I had not heard of before. The loan is a bit like a credit card, so if I make payments over & above my Direct Debit, the future payments are all reduced. I think this is a great idea and don't know why more car finance companies don't offer this. Very happy with the service & would not hesitate to recommend,

Three guys in a office that housed more than one company. The guy that showed me the cars I was interested in was wearing a top with one of the other company names on (not Car Company), so I suspect they operate multiple businesses from this premises. Perhaps it was prejudiced of me, but The Car Company name itself didn't bother me, but "ShowKarz" did, and that is the name of one of the companies on the door, and was the name of the logo on the sales man's jumper. Sorry. If you trying to sell a Range Rover then a Z in your company name, unless it should be there is only going to be off putting. First impressions. These guys don't seem to care about first impressions. I went to look at two different cars. Both Range Rovers. Despite three guys in the office, I wasn't allowed to view the car without a salesman. I had to wait for the only one of the three who was on the phone to finish doing some finance deal over the phone. The others were not willing to show me the cars. I had driven a round trip of over 100 miles to see these cars. First impressions were getting worse. The salesman I had knew nothing of either of the car's history. One of them he said he could only start it for a short while and not run it long. I wasn't able to test drive either. On the second car it took him a long time to find the keys and he said the battery was flat. The second car hadn't been prepped and again he knew nothing of the car. The first had allegedly been prepped, but little more than a wash and a hoover. It had a very obvious repair to the bonnet, that even in the dim light of their unlit unit was clear to see. There wasn't really the space to get a good look around. I couldn't even open either boot properly and the second car the rear door refused to open. Clearly these cars needed a good look over. I didn't feel that the guy knew his cars, or he didn't want to say anything that might set an expectation or standard that the car should live up to. I didn't get a good feeling from them. I've been to a few dealers in the last days, and these came across as the worst by a long way. The unit they have doesn't inspire confidence, nor does their office space, nor their pitch or presentation of their vehicles. I asked about warranty - standard mandatory three months. I asked if that could be extended. I was told yes, but no more detail was forthcoming. Had the warranty been explained and I was reassured that it was water tight and appropriate for a Range Rover I might have taken one of the cars and dealt with any issues arising via warranty, but I didn't feel he knew enough to explain the warranty and more importantly they did not inspire trust or confidence in how they would handle things. Having read on here, then I can see that some people have had some extremely frustrating experiences, that kind that one would never want to expose themselves to where they are given the run around, phone calls unanswered, fobbed off, and to be honest, first impressions were that they were a bit like that. In this day and age when there are so many honest traders who have built a reputation on honesty and integrity I do walk away from any garage that doesn't give me the right feeling, and these didn't. I have spent hours going over some cars in the past, but within minutes I was walking away from these guys and actually not really knowing why other than my instincts were telling me to walk away. However, reading on here I am really glad that I did walk away.

*Three guys in a office that housed more than one company.* Motor Car Centre Ltd has been trading 20 years BUT does trade as THE CAR COMPANY (car sales) & ShoKarz (finance). *The guy that showed me the cars I was interested in was wearing a top with one of the other company names on (not Car Company), so I suspect they operate multiple businesses from this premises. Perhaps it was prejudiced of me, but The Car Company name itself didn't bother me, but "ShowKarz" did, and that is the name of one of the companies on the door, and was the name of the logo on the sales man's jumper.* I think this says a lot more about you than it does about it us. ** Sorry. If you trying to sell a Range Rover then a Z in your company name, unless it should be there is only going to be off putting. First impressions. These guys don't seem to care about first impressions.** An odd thing to say as we've just invested heavily in a brand new showroom. Quite a way from our original portacabin & outdoor pitch. ** I went to look at two different cars. Both Range Rovers. ** Yes, you came in to test drive two cars back to back. Without an appointment. You expected us drop everything (even hovering over a salesman whilst he was mid phone call) and accommodate your demands. I could go on and on but there's no need :) Thankfully, both cars went to a good home not long after you popped in.
