I'm so sorry I didn't read the reviews before purchasing a car from The Car King. I just brought a Renault Clio from these dealerships, everything went well the first days. Not even after 5/7 days, my exhaust pipe fell because of the rust 😐 I call the dealer and he start to accuse me that was my fault and I did something to the exhaust. Anyway, he agreed that I either go to his service 2h away from me or go to service locally to fix it. I went to a garage the mechanic put a new exhaust pipe. Everything was good till here, after a week one morning my car didn’t start so my husband had to give me power because my battery died, I went to the garage he did a battery test and surprisingly the battery was completely died and wasn’t working properly anymore. Not only that but there are several issues with my car, most of which were the reason why the car failed Mot last year. If you want to buy a good second-hand car just go somewhere else avoid The Car King.

If you are going to do a review then please be honest , we paid for the exhaust repair at the garage you chose which i believe was your friend , what you do not mention is that you tried to have other wear and tear parts renewed unnecessarily so we requested you bring the car back so we could confirm the same but you decided not to bring it, Batteries are not covered under warranty just so you know but we was never contacted that as we would have considered that request in the first month with yet again proof of requirement . Your review is just not truthful and is unfair as the whole story is not told , we have covered everything we are responsible for .
Contacted about a test drive on a car - I suggested that I had a route planned for my test drive, purely because I didn't know the area and didn't want to go over the allotted 15 minutes for the test drive. I was then met with heavy judgement from the person who I spoke to on the phone who then tried saying that I was just doing the test drive for pleasure purposes and not actually intending to buy the car. Despite explaining why I didn't go through with the previous purchase when I went to visit (was diesel, preferred petrol and also lost wallet so had to replace everything in there), he still kept judging me and now saying that he was weary of why I wanted the test drive and why I would plan the route (even though I had explained multiple times to him why I planned my route - to which he responded saying that people who are actually serious buyers don't plan their test drive routes and only take the car down the road and back, which is false.) He then said that "he would have to think about it", hung up and is now refusing to answer any of my calls. Abysmal customer service

You had previously been and test drove a £35000 range rover even though I had questioned your suitability and affordability for that car as you was only 20 year old but you assured us it was fine but as I suspected I never heard from you again after your test drive , main dealers did not even let you go on test drives you informed me before calling us . Three month on you call again on a £25000 5 litre supercharged Range rover , obviously even less suitable then the previous test drive , I was very apprehensive about letting you drive another car of ours as I believed you just wanted to joy ride fast expensive cars , then you asked how long you can go for your test drive which was a question that I have never been asked before in 20 years so I decided a test drive was not a option any longer , i informed you of this but you did keep calling after so I did not take your calls from that point . I am sorry this situation arose but it was your previous actions and current questions that created that situation

I informed you that I’d lost my wallet shortly after the test drive (o even rang you and asked you whether I’d dropped it at your garage). My affordability would’ve become clear had I decided to go ahead with the car. You also never said that you weren’t going ahead with the test drive - you simply said “I’ll have a think about it” then never answered any of my calls after. This is highly unprofessional. For your information, since you had doubts about my “affordability and suitability for the car”, I’ve gone ahead and bought a similar car at another dealership that is actually professional and cares about their customers. This is all I’m going to say about it now, in the future I’m advising my friends to steer clear of your business if they’re considering buying a used car, as I think many others on here will agree with
Bought a car on the Friday, did 20 miles over the weekend it began overheating and developed cam chain slap, reported the problem to this dealer, who basically said he was too busy and would ring back. Needless to say days later after calling him, he again stated he was busy and would call back, he hasn’t to date. The vehicle was recovered to a reliable local garage, a water pump and cam belt and £900 bill later and the car is fixed. I was told the vehicle had been serviced and MOT’d, he appears to be a nice chap, but I will not recommend the Car King for a reliable vehicle.

My father purchased a car in good faith, due to unforeseen circumstances it was delivered and not touched before being driven by ourselves after a couple of weeks. It has a squeal coming from the wheels and very poor handbrake. The squeal is guidance that it needs new brake discs, present when first driven and we genuinely don’t know how it got through the MOT a few weeks earlier. On querying this with John he put the phone down on us.

Went to look at x5 not pushed left you to make own mind test car good p/x hiley recommend thanks
Just been and looked at and bought car from The Car King today 25/8/19 which is sunday August bank holiday travelled from near mablethorpe to have a look at it first off all nice guy to deal with let me have look around car and left me to it, then let me go out for test drive alone was with my wife and our 1 year old he even said we can put her chair in back and all go, something no other dealer ever offered us in Lincoln or Grimsby. He was very truthfull about everything, the car had 5 month mot left and so he is putting a year on it for us and we decided to take the 18month extended warranty. And we also got a one year free AA breakdown cover also as it got next to no fuel in it just20 miles worth left he is going to put £10 fuel in before collection again something no one else ever does
Couldn't say anything negative about how the purchase was dealt with, but within less than 2 months major issue with the car started. Fuel line was replaced after finding a old pine cone in the fuel tank, the clutch cable snapped, the rear window wiper stopped working & I was told the gear box was in a bad state & will need replacing soon enough! This is despite the car being passed its MOT just before purchase. Would not recommend or The Car King use again. Selling a dangerous car after getting an green MOT for it, possibly knowingly that's it's in a bad state is dishonest & unacceptable. Unfortunately, I never thought of asking for a 3-6 month guarantee so could do nothing in terms of taking it back to challenge. Lesson learnt
