Bought a car March 31st, all looked good until I took it to my regular garage for a check over. Was sold with a faulty MOT. In the 25 days from when I bought the car I only had it for 13 days in my possession as it was back in the car centre with a faulty gear box, which cut out while driving around a large round about in busy traffic. Asked for a refund and still waiting just to keep being told it will be tomorrow. Now it’s gone next Tuesday when the boss is back in. (They also said he had other bills to pay including mine so not looking hopeful, perhaps stop buying cars at auction and pay up instead) Even the courtesy car had an oil fault light on which I was told was just a sensor problem which had been on for over 12 months and I could drive it to Scotland with no problems - took it back to the car centre instead.

WARNING! Do not purchase any vehicle from Phil! Bought a Van from him he overcharged me by 20% and then the van broke down. Computer is broken and engine is full of soot! Saved up all my money nursing through COVID-19 only to buy a faulty broken van that cost me even more money to fix. He is a complete crook who takes advantage of vulnerable people. If possible I would leave this man 0 stars. Do not trust him.
Went to see a car 10 days ago but had to give the a £300 refundable deposit before we could go and look at it. Still have not returned our £300. I.have called them 3 times and they keep saying to give it 1 more day to transfer over. Will contact police if money not in my account by tomorrow am

Visited them today traveled 100miles to buy the car that I had put a deposit on and was supposed to be able to drive away today. On arrival I inspected the vehicle and it hadn’t been cleaned inside at all. Outside was covered in silicon obviously trying to hide scratches. The photos I had seen of the car were not a representation of the car at all. All wheels were damaged which was not clear in the photos and the rear window wasn’t working. This from a garage that had said the car was fully prepared. Asked the sales man and owner about issues he told me not to buy the car then. I deal with car dealerships on a daily basis never in 20 years have I experienced such poor service. Also each salesman claims the other is in charge and blames the other one.

I had a car inspected by a mechanic and was told that not only was the car in need of repairs but also that the service history was clearly forged as the oil etc had not been changed in a long time. Be wary of buying from Thornbury Car Centre.
Buying a car through Thornbury Car Centre was a nightmare, when buying the car they kept re-arranging pick up due to different reasons and when collecting there were problems with the car which they had to fix before we could drive away. Since owning the car it has been one problem after another with almost as much spent on the car as the sale price. After some investigation and having an independent garage take a look at the car, they have advised that they think the car should not have even passed the MOT when it was sold. Every time we call get told its not there problem as they sold us the warranty cover however the warranty cover refuse to pay out on any problem. Having dealt with them i would never recommend this company to anyone - stay clear and save yourself the money and stress.
Left Thornbury Car Centre with a dangerous and un-roadworthy car, trusted the pop;e and paperwork which they incorrectly completed i.e. ticked all the boxes! Refused to fix the actual problem. One week later I am seeking legal advice.

I agree with you that the cars are not checked before selling,my car is full of fault's,one of which has not been resolved as yet due to being fobbed off with the excuse that the auto electrician is not available. Wouldn't buy from here again.

I also bought a vehicle here and was not told it had a major engine fault on returning to the garage I was told by the boss [ I will have to see the boss about it ?. ] I then made several phone calls to be told again he has to see the boss, then he has to see the mechanic, then its the mechanics day off, then the mechanic has phoned in sick, I told him I was going to seek legal advise about this at which point the phone was put down on me. I put the car into another garage to get it fixed and it was found to also have a dangerously worn wheel bearing, the car has cost over £400 to get it to a safe roadworthy condition, so like you there is legal action being taken.. To anyone thinking of buying a vehicle here all I can say is BUYER BEWARE...

Hi there, currently taking them to court over a faulty car that broke down on day 1. Wondering how your case went as can use as a case study for my own case. and provides better evidence for my court case. Much appreciated. Alex.

Hi there, I know it’s an old post. Just would like to ask how did you get on with them on court? We have the same issue with them.
Miss Rebecca Jane Williams in response to Sold me a dangerous and unroadworthy car
Hi, my name is Rebecca Williams, I bought a car from them in June 2023, I have gone to Citizens Advice Consume Helpline and reported them for selling me a dangerous and un-roadworthy. They have done the same thing to me as they have done to you. I was wondering how your case went against them. I would love to hear from you and see how you got on because I had not realised that they have done this to a lot of other people and I want to stop them from doing it too anyone else. Thank you for the time to read this e-mail Rebecca Williams
