Last year I was informed that my car was being recalled, I booked an appointment and Vinidis Volkwagen Bedford came to take my car. Everything was fine with my car, however no one at Volkswagen informed me what ‘recall’ meant. After 14 months my ABS lights came on the dashboard. I immediately called AA they plugged my car into the computer and information came up stating that I need to ‘update the software’. AA stated that I need to contact Volkswagen because the issue in my car is related to a recall and only VW can deal with the problem. So I called VW the next day, the gentleman who took the details was unbelievablely rude and he told me I need to bring my car to VW immediately. I called the VW national helpline to deal with the issue, unfortunately no one was dealing with me seriously and they did not explain the issue. I later went to VW Bedford and they plugged my car into the computer and stated that I need ABS control unit which costs £723 plus VAT and £250 for labour, so nearly £1000 which I’m expected to pay, when I am not the one who’s at fault in this situation. The part should have been changed when my car got recalled initially however that was not the case. Just so everyone is aware, please do not bring your car to recall they will ONLY update the software but will NOT change the parts. Whereas, my car should have been covered by warranty which lasts 2 years as every garage states (ask Mercedes and they cover any issue regarding recall’s for free). I will definitely be bringing the up to the Trading Standards as this is definitely not something that I should pay for. VW the national centre helpline are not treating me seriously they in fact are constantly messing me about sending me from point A to point B with no answers. They themselves don’t know what is going on. A company as big as VW don’t want to take responsibility for their recalls and try to take payments off of unaware people. I will definitely go to the media with this if I have to just to show how VW deal with recalls and how they treat their customers. To everyone aware please do not do your recall as this is only a software update and your ABS control unit should be changed instantly.

Bedford Volkswagen are so slow at getting anything done ,lots of dolly girls who haven't a clue about cars,I won't be going there again.
