I brought a car from White Cottage for my daughter, within a week it had to go too their garage, went back 3 times now in the end its with the police because it wasn't safe for her to drive.
The number of people that I have spoken to since have all said DONT BUY FROM THERE so now I've got to try and find my daughter another car which is going to put me out of pocket.
On the PLUS side hopefully the police will take this further

My neighbour bought a nice looking 2015 Mondeo estate about 3 months ago he's not familiar with UK mots and how to check a car over he's done around 1000 miles since he bought it, had about 5 months M.O.T left which expires in July 24
The MOT had an advisory on it for O.S.R tyre being worn close to legal limit in July 2023,
He's just noticed the osr wheel gets very hot. I've taken a look and I was horrified at what I found. The osr tyre was worn on the inside edge through to the cords, the NSR is showing extreme uneven wear to the inside edge. This is usually indicative of worn suspension bushes or very poor alignment.
The last 1000 miles wear does not account for wear from being close to limit to the point of being really dangerous and at risk of shredding at any speed which it now is, photos of tyre available !
The car has new discs all round and they look to be a quality disc , with no corrosion coating. Great you would think but the calipers are in a terrible state, very heavy corrosion to the brake pipes and connection and I drew breath when I saw that they hadn't changed the pads. I couldn't fathom why any mechanic would do such a thing until I realised the osr caliper is seized and can't be rewound or pushed back , the car will not go into electronic parking break service mode so it would be impossible to fit new pads. This car was sold to someone with little knowledge who immediately drove it on the motorway with his young family.
The dealer has been contacted today and we await to see if they have anything to offer in post sales service. This car, which was purchased from White cottage just 3 months ago is now on my drive, with space saver tyre on but can't be driven far because the osr smokes and gets extremely hot, it's going to need a good few hundred pounds just to get it drivable and will require an M.O.T in 2 months which I have little doubt will reveal many more horror stories.
As far White Cottage goes "Emptor Caveat" .... Buyer beware

Absolutely fantastic service. I am disabled with Lymphoedema Stomach mass, think of a Silver back Gorilla getting in a car with restricted movement, that’s me.
They are Fantastic knowledge, Professional, Understanding and Courteously dealt with my enquiry, and disability.

Initially concerned about some of the negative reviews but I found them all to be unfounded. I reserved the car and paid a £100 deposit. It was taken off sale immediately and put through an Mot. All issues were resolved so when we called to pick it up it was ready to go. Very friendly lads both on the phone and in person. Fuel light was on but what the other reviewers didn't mention is there are two petrol stations just across the road. Warranty upgraded to 6m National cover so if you can't realistically take it back then take this option. All in all a great place to buy a car from and worth the 200 mile trip to get there.

I love this garage ive been going years and wouldnt go anywhere else. The car i bought had some fuel in but to be fair i was buying the car and the fuel was a bonus lol

Never done review before,, got decent car from white cottage car centre and good people to speak to.. come from Salford an well worth it.. my son first car , he buzzin cheers,, done new 12 month mot aswel , fixed n sorted the bits, even tho it had 4 months left.. thanks

I have been happy with my car and have nothing bad to say about the couple of days when I was dealing with the White Cottage Car Centre apart from the fact that when we test drove the car it ran out of petrol despite my husband mentioning the fuel looking extremely low and being told ''no it'll be fine''!!! What has prompted this negative review is that when I rang to resolve a tax/log book problem which has ended up costing me money and was definitely their fault I got nothing but excuses and an unprofessional response and refusal to accept responsibility. Wont be going to White Cottage Car Centre.
