My 19 year old son was looking for his first car with his summer wages. Wondervalue advertised a car on autotrader. We drive 2.5 hours to get there (Paul refused to hold it while we drove) and discovered he works from a van on the site of a road in London, under a railway arch. We did end up buying the car and it has proven to be OK (the issues we have found have been relatively easy to sort) but I think this is our good luck rather than the honesty of the salesman! Paul wouldn't have cared if it had been a total lemon. His tricks to look out for: - Saying "someone was just here and offered cash but I turned them down" as soon as you arrive (i guess this is just a classic sales tactic!) - Increasing the price on autotrader before you arrive to make it £100 more than the advert you've seen, which makes negotiating hard as you're starting from £100 higher than you should have been (I'd suggest taking a screenshot advert before you go). - Giving you the service paperwork while you're standing at the car, but then continuing to talk at you incessantly so you can't actually take it in. He then whips it away from you. - Mentioning a few 'things' that he can't guarantee are ok (in our case the radio and aircon) and then writing on the sales paperwork "radio not working, air con not working, buyer aware". This is despite both of these things being listed in the advert as working (they were not). - Hiding the above writing on the sales paperwork from you when sign the agreement to buy (in our case he had his fingers over it, whilst highlighting the section about it with 'date and time of sale' making a big deal of the fact that he'd written the time of sale in case it had any speeding tickets prior to that exact time) so that you have no come back - Not giving all of the service history paperwork to you after purchase that he'd previously shown you whilst viewing (I didn't realise this until we got home and all of the previous service invoices were missing) - Not giving an opportunity to listen to the engine running whilst out of the car, only when sitting inside it for a test drive. If you can buy a car elsewhere then I would! This guy is dodgy. I feel that we got off lightly.

I sold our family mini to Paul at WonderValue a couple of years ago He Quoted a price for the car and when I dropped it off He paid no arguing the price . I picked his brain on the car I was buying from another garage & Paul answered all my questions very helpful Now when I need to know anything about a car I just text Paul & he gets back to me quickly .. My neighbour was selling his Jaguar 4x4 Paul said he would buy it but get a better price on AutoTrader. .Wondervalue are very straightforward seem to know repairs & prices.

I bought a Peugeot 207 from this dealer (Paul) and that was the worst experience I've ever had. When I called, he told me he would only be available during night hours, around 8ish - one would wonder why! I went there at night as per his availability with confidence after seeing a clean MOT history and his catchy specs in the advert. He never mentioned any of the cars defects till I wired him the money. As soon as he confirmed the transfer, he started adding a bunch of faults to the invoice. That moment I felt something wasn’t right and I asked him what are all these you’re now writing. He said he had told me about it but that wasn’t true. Under his pressure and late hours, I was made to sign for all the things he had stated (4 signatures on 1 invoice). Long story short, I took the car for diagnosis and was NOT surprised to learn the car had multiple serious defects, including a blown head cover gasket, a knackered clutch and worn-out brakes. I talked to him, but he was just as unhelpful as I had expected. I had to pay over £900 to get the car fixed. His tone suddenly changed as soon as I transferred the money and signed for the deal. I should have followed my instincts. I’d NEVER recommend this dealer, not even to my worst enemy!

Got good Service and advice from Wondervalue. Helpful , polite would use again .

What to say other than avoid this trader. Comes across as if he is doing you a favour. The advert increased by £105 while I was on there. This should have been the red flag I needed. No premises. Parked on the road next to an MOT garage. Kept saying that he has to tell me of any major issues. Well following a visit to my local trusted garage there was a major issue. The clutch was knackered!! Needed replacing. Now he keeps telling me I got a good deal so that should be okay. There was also an issue with the alternator and battery. These were not terrible, but both we only running 70% efficiency. All in all what I thought was a good purchase. Was not! I really wish I had not bought from this trader.
