I have paid the £99 deposit in order to view the car. However, when viewing it I spot 4 damages which were not in the picture of their website. Also, the engine was extremely noisy which indicates a problem. I asked the person showing me the car if all damages would be repaired and he said not all of them because it would cost them to fix it and I would need to wait for it since garages are closed due to lockdown. Previously on the phone, they promised it would take a couple of days. Also, I asked about the loud noises coming from the engine and he said that was normal but I was sceptical and I decide to make a video and showed it to a couple of mechanics I know who said that noise is not normal and the car definitely has a problem. Therefore, I contact the dealer to justify those noises from the engine and damages, he didn't even attempt to do it. Obviously, I emailed them for my £99 refund since they did not justify the noises and the damages that would not be repaired. Moreover, it clearly states on their website that if the car doesn't reflect the pictures a full refund will be made but they didn't keep their word. At first, they send me an email saying refund is not an option since I agreed to buy a car, which is nonsense. I have never agreed to buy a car not in person not via email. After viewing the car, I asked many questions that have not been answered and the only communication I received was refund is not an option. I send a follow-up email, which was ignored until I call the office to find out what's going on. On the phone, I was told that somebody will contact me in a couple of days but it did not happen so I called them back and the rude person answering the call told me that he is dealing with a customer so he has no time to talk to me. (Am I not a customer?) they give the customer no choice other than buying their faulty car or lose their deposit. After another few days, they send me an email offering me half of the deposit or wait until they will have another suitable car which is disgraceful. My girlfriend and I travelled over 40 miles to view this car which cost us money and time. I informed the dealer that I need a car asap and was ready to pick the car even the same day if is as described. I do need the car during this difficult time as I work in the food retail industry and have to work every day to support the need for the essential items. I am very disappointed with Affordable cars of Kent for their lack of professionalism, transparency and for being dishonest. I viewed the car on the 18th of April and was ignored for 2 weeks. I will take this matter further if I don’t receive my full deposit.

I don’t normally leave reviews. However The service I received from these guys given the current covid 19 situation was truly amazing. Even though they are closed because of covid-19 They still managed to pick the phone up and take my call. IM A KEY WORKER. As soon as I explained I was a key worker they pulled strings for me to make sure I could get around to care for those that needed me. I MUST ADD I was asked upon viewing the vehicle to Sanitise my hands and then where the gloves provided. From there on everything was handled at 2 meter distance. If your looking for a car then these guys really are the ones to get it from ! Extremely honest and helpful ! Company’s like this really are a good find

I have bought three cars in the last month on behalf of my family, a Nissan Micra for my mother, another Micra for my partner and yet another Micra for my son. During that process, I have travelled long distances to look at a few cars and in every case I have put a deposit down with the dealer simply to keep the vehicle from being sold before I could get to view it. In two cases, where on closer inspection in person, the vehicle was not in quite as good a condition as hoped for, the dealers immediately reimbursed the deposit and I moved on. When I enquired about a 2010 Micra advertised with Affordable Cars of Kent, based in Rochester, I was a little surprised to be asked for a much larger deposit than other dealers had requested, £250 ( as opposed to £100 in every other case ). On arrival, having driven nearly 3 hours from Brighton, I was initially impressed with how clean the vehicle looked but on starting the engine, it was apparent that something wasn't right as grey smoke began emanating from the exhaust. I informed George the dealer who said it was probably just condensation as the car had been standing and to let it warm up. After about 20 mins, a substantial quantity of smoke was still coming from the exhaust and I expressed that I wasn't happy. George informed me that the car had just been MOT'd so it was perfectly fine. So I asked him for a copy of the emissions report ( which is part of the MOT requirement ) only to be informed in a manner that I would describe as dismissive, that there wasn't a report as ' it's computerised nowadays and no paperwork is issued '. I replied that I found that odd as every MOT certificate I'd received recently had the emissions report stapled to it. George said he'd take the vehicle to their mechanic ' to have it checked out ' and returned after about 10 mins to say the mechanic had confirmed it was just condensation ( but George didn't bring back any copy of the emissions report ). A lot of dark grey smoke was still coming from the exhaust but George and then his manager insisted it was ok and then tried to assure me that the vehicle was covered anyway by a free 3 month warranty so, if there were any problems, I could return it. I asked for a copy of the warranty which I scrutinised thoroughly only to find that incredibly, despite a comprehensive list, the warranty excluded cracked cylinder heads, cylinders or major engine damage, I was simply told that it was an off-the-shelf warranty and ' they're all like that '. On that basis, I stated that I would not be prepared to risk buying the vehicle and asked that they reimburse my deposit to my account and frustratingly I would have to look elsewhere. It was then that I was informed my deposit would not be returned. Their brief explanation was that in putting down a deposit, I had legally committed to purchasing the vehicle. I expressed my concern that it seemed very unreasonable to expect someone to purchase a vehicle unseen, especially where one could not possibly check the engine beforehand and in particular where it appeared that the engine not only seemed unsound but ominously, no emissions report paperwork could be produced to verify its claimed good condition. I returned home to check the exhaust on all the other Micras to discover that not a wisp of smoke appeared from any of them even on start up and that according to the DVSA, ' a written copy of the emissions report signed by the technician must be presented to the vehicle owner '. I have checked this with two local MOT testing stations who confirm this is indeed correct. As a result, I am highly dubious of the actions of Affordable Cars and unless I receive a full refund, l not only intend to take the matter further and inform Trading Standards but will phone the DVSA fraud hotline and ask them to investigate this suspicious activity. I will update this review and inform potential buyers of my progress in this matter on a regular basis, hopefully with a favourable outcome.

Last year i bought a Volvo V50 with Affordable Cars of Kent and I hit a dud, i'm over it, i'm not annoyed at them for selling me a dud, I imagine they are unaware of hidden faults in the cars they are selling... i hope. I'm mainly annoyed about the absolutely useless effort made in after sales support, the rip off warranty they sold which covered not a single problem i had with this car in my brief ownership period of 10months/12000miles, and the fact they lied about having done a full service and mechanical inspection upon purchasing. The Volvo had a list of problems which presented themselves within weeks of purchase. The car required new control arms in the first week. After noticing heavy black smoke upon execration i had to replace a split air intake pipe too. A "throttle sensing" problem causing the car to go into limp mode also appeared around the same time which prompted my garage to take a deeper look. Unfortunately the car was hiding engine codes... they were hidden by what i was told by my garage to be some custom software and tune on the ECU. Unfortunately this software went faulty causing the car to go into limp mode. Upon returning the software to stock wiping the tune i was left with an EGR voltage code problem, i could at now at least drive the car, i would have been lost until this point without the courtesy car my garage supplied (Carpenters Volvo). I then had to have the EGR replaced, upon installing the new EGR it became apparent that there was a blanking plate where the EGR should have been, that explains the codes, how it passed emissions on its MOT upon sale i don't know. All the while i was still getting black smoke upon execration, albeit less after replacing that air intake pipe, and the car was still going into limp mode after long journeys, this ended up relating to a DPF problem which kept popping up intermittently which was not remedied by a DPF clean. In the end, this combined with an intermittent steering column lock fault i had been getting every few weeks since purchasing the car (stopping me from starting the car) forced me to find a way out of it as fixing these faults combined came to more than the cars value at this point. During this process i had asked if the dealership could take the car back at trade value, i owned the car for less than 3 months at this point so i was entitled to much more but no offer to purchase the car back was made. I never got a workable solution from the dealership at any stage and contact was delayed and unhelpful at best. I would have liked at a minimum to have the value of the warranty refunded as it was totally useless. If the dealership wants to rectify this now than they can still get in touch. If you are reading this and do end up buying a car from Affordable Cars of Kent i hope you never need to have a major problem with it, and avoid the warranty, it's useless. Whats the point in paying the dealer premium when you get nothing for it.

Staff from Affordable Cars Of Kent in response to Nice staff, terrible business
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review Tom (on yet another site) I’m sorry to hear you have experienced a couple of issues with your vehicle. We feel it is always important to reply to reviews as there is always two sides to every story. I have managed to look at your vehicle purchase and I see you bought a nine year old Volvo, covered just over 130,000 miles. We don’t do any servicing in house. This is all carried out by local garages, but I can assure you that the vehicle was serviced and had a PDI. (I can forward on the relevant paperwork if you have mislaid it) Unfortunately, even servicing and a vehicle inspection can’t prevent unforeseen problems. I can see there have been a couple of emails between yourself and one of my colleagues but I can’t see a reply to our email dated 25th July 2018 in which we set out a couple of ways to try and help you with the issue. I’m afraid that all warranties that you purchase, will only cover certain parts if they have mechanically failed, not if they have just worn. I have spoken to the warranty company and there was a claim issued for a bald tyre, an air intake hose and a couple of vacuum pipes. They also said that the garage put a claim in for an EGR valve but the garage wasn’t sure if it was even faulty! hoses, tyres & pipes are all excluded as per your policy schedule as they are not mechanical working parts. When buying an older car with high mileage, consideration should be taken into costings of wear and tear and consumable items as these will obviously wear quicker the older the car. I’m a little confused though as you have said you were unable to use the car but had still managed to cover 12,000 miles in 10 months! It would of been best all round if you’d replied to our email back in July then this could of been sorted out a lot earlier for you. We work very hard here on our customer service as you can see by our many brilliant reviews on Facebook, Autotrader and Google. Kind Regards, Affordable Cars Of Kent Customer Service Team
Friendly welcoming service. Car clean and reasonably priced. Ready when requested. Paperwork all sorted quickly and efficiently. Car driving great so very happy. Thanks.
