I visited several car showrooms in Kidlington in early April '25 to get physical sight of cars on my shortlist of mild hybrid 'possibles' for my next car. A VW Polo was high up my list, so I walked into this showroom. No one took any notice of me at all, so I waited in a queue at the reception desk, occupied by two female staff. When it was my turn, the woman explained that I could not be shown any cars as I had not booked an appointment, and would have to wait at least 30 mins to talk to someone. It seemed to me astonishing that the reception staff had not enough training/confidence/empathy to see that it was important to at least point me in the direction of their mild hybrids, so that I could walk round them myself. Thus they could have 'kept' me until a salesperson was free. I was so unimpressed that I went straight over to Ford Hartwell opposite, which was welcoming, efficient and well-informed. I booked a mild hybrid from them on the spot, and as a result, VW lost my business. When I collected the car today (9/4/25), I deliberately called into the VW showroom to feed back to them about my experience. I wanted to use the 'Pretty Woman' line: 'Remember me? Big mistake! Big, big mistake!', but once again, no one took any notice of me at all. I hung around hoping to speak to someone but it was as if no one saw me! Oh the irony.

Car had a fault that immobilised it (broken ignition wire within steering column). Dealership made me feel like they were doing me a considerable favour to identify the fault and repair it in any reasonable time. On collection I was told that I should try to avoid adjusting the steering wheel. Today I made the mistake of ignoring this bizarre advice and the car became immobilised again. The roadside repair technician was hugely more helpful than the dealership and showed me the bodge that had been previously undertaken. Dealership service department has to be booked months in advance but not worth the wait.

I recently bought a new Golf from Marshall. Darren Valsler(Sales Executive) dealt with me. I part exchanged my late wife's Polo.(She passed away at the begining of July).The whole process was handled in a professional and painstakingly careful manner,including a follow up.Darren is an absolute diamond geezer. Booked an appointment to test drive the ID3. The salesman turned up 15 mins late. He had been ‘summoned’ to an internal meeting. Clearly customer isn’t important so I left

Bought a £69k car and when picking it up it was filthy inside. The team couldn’t have cared less. They had my money that’s all they cared about. Avoid….spend your hard earned money with someone who deserves it.

We were met by someone called Declan. He is a very energetic and enthusiastic sales person who oozes enthusiasm and demonstrates good knowledge. What he doesn't know he finds out. He is very polite and charming and we are sorry that he didn't get our business in the end.

My last service was great at Marshall Volkswagen Oxford Kidlington. The whole service team works in a good cooperation thank to Matt their manager. I have been using them for 6 years and it's always a pleasure to come back. I would like to thank Lindsay for her professionalism and kind approach to dealing with my car issues.
