After phoning Used Cars 123 at midday about a car I wanted to view they informed me it was still for sale and a viewing would be fine. So I set off driving for an hour to get there,on arrival I spoke to one of the salesman about the phone call and the car. I wished to see, "I'll just be a min he said",10 mins later he returns telling "a bit of bad luck on this one, someone else has just test driven it and the turbo has blown" I could elaborate on the whole dodgy story and sequence of events, but I really don't want to waste any more time on such a bunch of dodgy characters, but felt compelled to make everyone aware of how they operate, beware!

this person did not buy a car from usedcar123, and is in position therefore to teview us, never mind slander us.
Just bought a car from this garage and exported it to Ireland. It was what they said. Cheers
After initially being a little dubious about buying a car so far away and over the phone we took the plunge. The car wasn't quite ready in time due to it failing an MOT, but this was sorted within two days and we drove up to collect the car. The car was what we wanted at a reasonable price. Big thanks to all the sales guys who we met there who made us loads of tea. Gary and Robert
Initially my impression of Used Car 123 was positive, fairly friendly sales guys without the traditional sales patter from other dealerships. I went to look at a Volvo saloon car, which after a test drive I was brought into their offices and presented with the paperwork for the car. It was advertised on their website as a One Previous Owner car - however on reviewing the paperwork it said 3 previous owners!I queried this with the sales guy and he said to me 'this won't be a problem will it?'. I decided to go ahead anyway and put a deposit down of 250 pounds for the car. When I arrived home, my wife and I discussed the car and we decided that it wasn't right for us (running costs too high). I then tried to contact Used Car 123 several times that evening on their out of hours mobile number, and resorted to sending a text explaining I wished to change my mind an could I have a refund of my deposit. They acknowledged the text the following morning 4 minutes after start of trading and suggested they might be willing to transfer the deposit to another vehicle. I asked to see another car they were getting in stock and asked if it would be okay to view it at the weekend with my wife. To which they confirmed that was okay to do so. That weekend we went to view said car and we were suprise to see it had not been valated on the interior and was dirty, with paint mark on the front passenger seat and my wife noticed some of the rear plastic door trim had broken off and looked dangerously sharp. Fair to say we were not impressed! I also noticed the volvo that I had originally said I wanted a refund of my deposit on sitting in the 'Sold' bay of cars and asked the sales guy why that was the case to which he replied 'he didn't know' - odd given he was the one that originally took my deposit! Arriving back home I called Sales Manager at Used Car 123 and asked for a refund of my deposit and that I didn't want to purchase any of their other cars. He responded saying that i needed to email this request in, which i duely did. A few days later i received a response saying they had agreed to cancel the sales order for the Volvo but because I had left a deposit and changed my mind the deposit was forfeited. Bear in mind I had notified them of my decision to change my mind on the car well before they had time to prep it for collection, so their incurred losses were effectively zero. Despite pointing this out to them they seem content in retaining my deposit, which I am entirely unhappy about. I have since seen the car re - advertised on Autotrader as a One Previous Owner car, despite the fact it has three and despite the fact I pointed this out to them on email that I felt their original advertisement for the car was misleading for that reason. A blatant attempt to mislead! It may come as no suprise when I say 'I DO NOT RECOMMEND USED CARS 123'.

First and foremost this is still an on going case and no decision has been made. The customer has sent a letter in requesting a reply by the 22/04/16 today being the 12/04/16. That being said as stated the customer has changed his mind after placing an order. A deposit has been taken to secure a purchase to protect us the dealer from cancellation and to secure this car for the customer to stop the dealer selling the car from under him.
My husband and I found the perfect exact spec of a car we had been looking for at Used Car 123 (Doncaster) via the AA Car search and were excited when we had arranged a test drive for a few days later (a Saturday). The dealer had at least a couple of days notice of our appointment but, when an engine warning light illuminated throughout our test drive, the salesman informed us that the car had only just come in and hadn't yet been prepared. Whilst the car appeared clean and in good condition, it lacked power. Why they had advertised the car at this stage and agreed a test drive, before checking for and resolving any issues, I do not know. When questioning the warning light and stating we didn't want to commit to the purchase before understanding the cause and seeing the matter resolved, the salesman responded with 'that's not how we work' and 'it won't be anything major, and not to worry'. Interesting diagnostic considering, during that same appointment, he told us (and fair enough) he only sells the cars and that his knowledge is not that of a mechanic. After expressing more doubt about the purchase, the salesman arranged for the car to be taken to their mechanic while we waited. After about an hour, he returned to say that he hadn't been aware of a coil that had been ordered and come in which would rectify the problem and that the mechanic had fixed it while we waited. My husband test drove the car again and felt the car drove much better (having come out of what the salesman explained as a 'limp mode' which protects the engine while the warning light is on) but the warning light had not disappeared. Rightly or wrongly, we can not be certain, we were told that the light would be re-set when being serviced, which would be done before we collected the following weekend. We left a deposit and by the time we arrived home the car's had been removed from their website. The day before our scheduled collection, my husband received a call from Used Car 123 stating that the car was not ready for collection so we rearranged for the following weekend. We called the day before to check if the car would be ready, and were told that it wouldn't be due to them awaiting a different part they had ordered following a further engine warning light that occurred during the service. No explanation regarding the fault was given and no apology offered. We were told that the car would be ready a couple of days later but due to work and family commitments and living some fifty miles away we were unable to arrange collection until the weekend. My husband had to call on numerous occasions before getting any assurance that the car would be ready. The day before collection, my husband called again. The salesman explained that the mechanics were working on the car and would work late to fix it. He stood by his word by calling us out of hours that evening, confirming that the car was ready for collection the following morning. Having set off early the following morning my husband received a call from another staff member of Used Car 123, who informed him that the car was not ready. Credit where it is due, he was very apologetic and offered a full refund of our deposit or that we continue to wait for the repair but for an unknown period of time. We opted for the deposit (which we have since gratefully received with no problems) and turned back home. However, we are very surprised to see that, on the very next business day, the car in question has reappeared for sale on their website. Either the car is still not fit for resale or, if it is, Used Car 123 has failed to contact us with the good news and offer first refusal. Either way, this is a very disappointing end. Whilst the staff we dealt with were polite and friendly, our experience has been stressful, leaving us back at square one, without a car and searching for a new one. In future, I would hope that staff of Used Car 123 are encouraged to pro actively deal with their customers and not wait to be called repeatedly by them for information. Throughout the whole process, we couldn't understand why they weren't bending over backwards to please us, as their customers, and to retain their sale.

Thanks for taking the time to review. We are sorry to see you do not feel you have had the best service from us. After finding a subsequent fault on the vehicle which we were unable to resolve in good time we felt that offering your deposit back was the best course of action. All cars that are in stock with no deposit attached go live onto our website. This is currently something we are working on with our web developers.
I also purchased a used car from the Doncaster branch in February 2016 a ford focus ST for £7100 and have had nothing but problems since day one, a major water leak into the boot for starters. Front suspension bushes also on their way out even though car was MOT'ed 1 day before I picked it up. I have had repairs done to the vehicle which were agreed to be £150 for a cambelt change. Once the job was complete I go to settle the bill only to be advised that there was infact no charge as the Doncaster branch had authorised the work to be carried out in full. When I questioned this to make sure it was 100% correct, I was informed there was no need as it had been stamped by the branch. So I gladly go on my way only 6 days later receive a phone call asking for the payment as one of their employees had made a mistake. Any reputable dealership would have realised it is their own error and not even attempt to charge the customer. But as expected this place will try anything. Still the leak had not been sorted and they are now refusing to take the car back as it supposedly not a major mechanical fault However they do not seem to grasp the new consumer rights law that the vehicle has to be of satisfactory quality/fit for purpose and as described. Clearly having a small pond in the boot of your vehicle is not of satisfactory quality. Unless your a staff member at usedcar123. I have just delt with a individual the operations director Mr Hailes it's only taken almost a month to get a response from someone at the top. And yes you've guessed it he is as unhelpful as the majority of the staff there and now is supposedly "considering" court action against me. Exactly what for I have yet to find out. However I will look forward to my full refund and cannot wait to hand the car back just down to the principle of the matter. If they had of been helpful and not attempted to fight fixing the fault I may of accepted a repair but if they are so reluctant to fix a water leak can you imagine your headgasket goes or cambelt snaps?? avoid this place at all costs. its out of the way for a reason not public transport for miles and I honestly believe they have paid some reviewers on other sites Oh and according to a member of staff they regularly have cars coming back with problems and don't like paying to repair them! Speaks volumes really doesn't it Oh and if usedcar decide to even respond to this review I do have email proof of everything I have stated.

Thanks for your comments. You may recall, you demanded after taking the car that we do we the cam belt, despite the fact this was never agreed prior to sale. We, as a gesture of goodwill agreed to replace the cambelt at cost- £150. This is very cheap for a cambelt replacing as i am sure you will agree. We investigated a water leak into the boot while we had the car. The remedy for this is a boot seal, which we ordered for you. Once the cambelt was fitted, for what ever reason, it was not paid for. We called for payment and you refused. We were surprised when you asked for the boot seal, quite a cheek we thought! Here the rub,be reasonable, pay for the work you agreed to, and we will send the boot seal. Seems reasonable to us.
Unknown in response to Darren Kingston
After the cambelt change had taken place I was prepared to pay when I asked what I owe I was informed by the member of staff I owed nothing. I said I was told I'd need to pay. The lady on the desk double checked and said it has been authorised by Doncaster and you do not owe any payment. I was given my car keys and assured the boot leak would be sorted and to await the arrival of the boot seal. 5 days later i received a phone call stating ' we have made a mistake and we are calling to take payment'. This is what I call cheek! So I am now being blamed for your own incompetence. Your service, attitude and customer care is appalling! I have checked my rights with citizens advice and you have breached my rights more than once. This is illegal. Poor company and every single member of staff shares their stinking cocky attitude.
It was a no thrills car buying experience but in terms of customer care and quality of cars they are excellent. The staff were a pleasure to deal with, made every step simple and made sure I was happy with my purchase. I'd recommend them without hesitation.

Thanks for your review
If you are fortunate to buy a car from this dealer that has no issues then well done .On the other hand if you are not than do not expect a positive outcome. This dealer has a typical back street approach to solving problems or not as the case might be. Do not be fooled by the smiley staff who are all to keen to take your money like so many in this industry.I have had to resort to legal action because they handed me back an unsafe car after a so called repair which took weeks to sort and they do not provide a loan car beware.I would rate this company a zero .You would be well advised to have any of their vehicles inspected before you leave a deposit. *************************************************************************REVIEW UPDATED 12.10.15. I am writing in response to USEDCAR123 and there reply to my complaints. Firstly let me make it clear that they have only offered me back my part exchange in order to give me a refund because they have not sold it, probably due to people not wanting to deal with them, and they are only willing to do this if I pay them £300+ for so called preparation costs. They have failed to tell people reading this review that repairs to my car were done using reconditioned parts and not new so that they could claim back the surcharge of £300 even though they claimed of my extended warranty, which I paid for. They have also failed to mention the fact they expected me to once again return my faulty car even though it is leaking fuel and oil over a hot engine due to botched repairs to which the managing director replied "these things happen". I wonder what he would have said if it had been brake failure? When I first purchased the car part of the deal was to transfer the private plate of my part exchange and onto the new car, simply you would think, but no I have now been waiting over four months and it still has not been done. Usedcar123 keep telling me that they have sent all the paperwork off but twice DVLA have stated that they do not have a record of them applying for any transfer regarding my reg. I know who I believe. Usedcar123 will I am sure reply to this review with yet another well thought out excuse but if my remarks prevent just one other person from falling into the trap and parting with hard earned money then I will consider my it a job well done. ************************************REVIEW UPDATE 16.10.15*********I am writing to amend a previous comment. It would appear that new parts were used as part of the original repair but the supplier still charged a £300 surcharge which is not the normal procedure for new parts this led me to believe these parts were reconditioned. **************************************************************************LATEST UPDATE TO THE REVIEW 16.11.15************************* just an update regarding the issues I have had with Car 123 I have been to pick up my Audi that was used as a px against the VW Touareg I purchased from them (reg no LM55 NWS ) and let me tell you I have never been so pleased to have my old car back. How they failed to sell a great convertible in summer is beyond me,but as its turned out I am happy that it was not sold Do not think you will get a full refund when you demand your money back because you will not They will tell you that preparation fees will be deducted and if you purchased the extra warranty forget it.In my case it was worth losing the money just to get rid of the Touareg and end any more dealings with this poor outfit.I must also point out that they only agreed to giving me back a refund after threatening not to unless I amended my previous comments. All this information was handed over to Trading Standards who were not impressed. Its interesting to note the car is for sale 2k more than I had bought it for? Even after I had to take back the un roadworthy car (which they had to acknowledge in writing would not be my fault should it catch fire or blow up )they would not take the time to look at the amount of oil that was pouring out onto the floor. Why? Because it was raining They were too interested in getting me away I guess so that I would not say anything to the poor soles who were looking around at the cars for sale. What a sense of relief it was to be leaving that place for the last time. Happy days.

Thank you for your review. May we point out, there were problems with the car, which we have had back and spent over £2000 to repair (we don’t make the cars). We have offered to refund the car and put the customer back to the position he started. If that’s bad service then what else can we do? Usedcar123 Aftersales Team.
Neil was absolutely fantastic from start to finish, the staff at Used Car 123 kept in touch and called regularly to keep me up to date. The car itself is exactly what I was looking for, it was thoroughly valeted and looked superb. I highly recommend them to anybody.
